What a terrible first episode. I hate when the author wants to talk about real life and can't barely conceive any scene or speech with a little bit of realism in it. And guess what? The episode isn't over yet goddamnnn

This is an anime that shows how a bottom rung guy in real life able to navigate the real life world and not be content being top in his own gaming world. Not ideal to get advice from such anime but it does have some truth in it.

Great start! The execution is pretty dull, but the subject matter is something I can pretty much relate. I wish I could've met someone like Aoi way back in high school.

Not too often that I don't like either of the characters in the first episode.

Tomozaki has a poor outlook on life, so it's good that he has someone challenging him to change that (if only we could all have that). But Hinami just comes across as a jerk and someone who has this 'Holier than thou' attitude (loads and loads of confidence for some reason..). Maybe she relates to him (I hear we will see more of her background later) but still I didn't like the showing. Hopefully both will grow over the series.

The show's plot is not exactly new but it will be interesting. I wonder though, if she is wanting him to get a girlfriend, has she had a boyfriend?

Anyway, I will keep watching to see where this goes. I will be shocked if they don't end up together though..

I had very low expectations for this show but damn i loved the first ep. I relate so much to the protagonist , and his outlook on life, i will continue this , LMAO every loser deserves a girl like aoi to get an apprenticeship on how to be socially in life and vice versa.

I get that they had to do it to get the plot started and moving, but it's kinda stupid how the first interaction between nanashi and NONAME went.

Those things about how Tomozaki feels about the game of life and how Aoi is a top-tier character, it's stupid how he would say them out loud. If he's really meant to be like a Hachiman from Oregairu he's supposed to be confident in his opinion to himself and internalizes it for nobody else to know about. Realistically he would've just muttered it under his breath after they split from the offline meeting, but no he just has to try and tell her off about it. Again, I get that that's how the ball gets rolling but kinda seemed forced. Those feelings are like his internal monologue, and for someone who is supposed to consider themselves bottom-tier character they wouldn't have the confidence to try and tell off a top-tier character. If he had really accepted his situation he wouldn't be trying to vent at Aoi.

And also for Aoi, if she's supposed to be big into gaming she should probably also be aware of what being at the top tier of a videogame is like. The basic understanding that at that level of gaming, you gotta expect that there are gonna be lowlives or no-lifes that all they do is play the game hours on end since that's all they do to perfect their skills and reach the top.

It also makes no sense that Aoi would care to try and revolutionize Tomozaki's life. Realistically on that front she would've just been disappointed (which again she shouldn't have been surprised) about how the top player in the game is a no life and just continued on. Her whole talk about how the person she looked up to was trash at the game of life is kinda dumb. She's aiming to beat him 'cause she feels like she found someone who works harder than her and is pushing herself to match that. Yeah, IN THE CONTEXT OF TACKFAM. That doesn't mean they need to be working harder than you in the game of life.

Oh my fucking god. This episode was pure fucking garbage. I get what they're trying to say, but this whole thing comes off as some giant arrogant lecture to incels. I've met many many people in life who never put forth any effort and just endlessly complain. I've also met people who tried really hard and died without ever really achieving anything (at least nothing other people would recognize).

We start off with the whole white pill bullshit. Workout, wear decent clothes, stand up straight, smile. All decent advice people should endeavor to follow for themselves and their own health and wellbeing. Where it always falls short is that such arguments don't automatically invalidate black pill arguments. Upsetting the hierarchy only works if most other people aren't doing it, otherwise the hierarchy just restructures itself with that in mind. Makeup and plastic surgery are perfect examples. Ask any woman and she'll say she feels immense pressure to wear makeup and to surgically fix her insecurities. Why? Because so many other women do so that if she doesn't, she'll feel left behind. The way women judge each other's appearances has restructured with those things in mind. Many people are left behind. About 10% of women and 30% of men (after enforced monogamy) die before ever having kids. The men will likely never have sex or relationships unless they pay for it, and the women will likely never get married. It's an unfortunate fact of life, but there are people at the bottom of the pyramid. Far less than lazy people like to claim, but they are there. How can you sit there and say life is fair and reasonable when kids die of cancer or get sold into slavery?

They didn't mention anything about actual health problems. This girl lives in a nice home (likely with two parents). She has good genes, goes to a good school, and is naturally talented in many fields. Therefore her effort is more easily and thoroughly rewarded. How can she sit there and say she knows how hard life can be because of her experiences in elementary school? There are many different types of difficult experiences too. The answers for each person will be different, and each person will have a different timeline in their lives.

How exactly does Aoi have time to excel at EVERYTHING? We've all met people who were skilled at many things, but they were rarely the BEST at everything (even as a big fish in a little pond). Normally I forgive this in shows, but it's actually relevant to the theme here. In each area her peers are also going to be training like mad to be the best, and without extreme innate talent one if them will inevitably devote more time into a pursuit than her. The top professionals of anything are both innately talented and incredibly hardworking at their respective crafts, where single percentage margins determine who wins or loses. To be a top student, athlete, AND gamer is pretty freaking crazy. Especially considering the gaming competition put 100% of their free time into it. It's not surprising that it would be his entire life.

What is with this, "Who are you? Her sister?" nonsense? "I'm a C+ without makeup, right?" As a teenager? Please. Your skin is glowing and youthful and doesn't even need it. Wearing too much makeup and doing crazy skincare routines are among the leading reasons young women damage and prematurely age their skin in the first place (excluding tanning, smoking, diet, drugs, etc. which do more mid to long-term damage). For the vast majority of guys less makeup is going to be more, and most of them will prefer to see you around the house in your natural state.

The moment the MC cuts his hair, girls are going to swarm him anyway. He's definitely not ugly.

I hate all 3 sides of this bullshit. Most of the black pill people quit before ever trying, most of the people who say, "Any guy can get a girl. I used to be dusty too," conveniently make sweeping generalizations that both ignore their own latent potential and assume others also have it, and the preachy feminists never even consider the male perspective to begin with. "Why doesn't every guy have a girlfriend? Because men are lazy!" That's always going to be an incredibly dumb argument to me. It takes two to tango. One group asks to join you at the end of your long journey, and one tries to pick you up during it. Both tactics have pros and cons, but more women would be in relationships if they approached them the way men do.

This episode was executed horrifically. Aoi is a massive bitch. The MC is a privileged crybaby.

At least the imouto is super cute.

P.S.
@AFourLeafClover good points.
