| @Beno Matching involves manually checking over 3000 users' lists and making sure that people have recommendations to give to their recipient by comparing interests, scores and likes/dislikes of everyone who signed up. 5% does not sound like a lot, but in reality it is still a lot of work. |

Would be easy to just randomize the pairings, but then you'll get a bunch of users who have nothing to recommend other users, which defeats the purpose of the contest. Some time last year, I tested it out, if the roles were reversed - if I had to recommend my Santa something, and if my recipient had to recommend something to me - and unsurprisingly, there were plenty of animes to choose from. |

@Comander-07 It's should actually take longer because they need to verify the gifts, communicate back and forth with those that need fix their gift for any reason, and then make up gifts for the people whose Santa didn't end up making a gift at all. It's a ton of work so I wouldn't be surprised nor hold it against anyone if it went into the new year again.

| @helloiamkot You should have received a notification about a mention in the Anime Edition thread. We mentioned you asking to update your list because we would be unable to match you with anyone. You can see your post here: https://myanimelist.net/forum/?goto=post&topicid=2241490&id=73530644 If you update your list now, then you might be able to make a backup gift for someone whose Santa doesn't make their gift. But with your current list, it would be difficult to find you a match. Alternatively, you can watch more anime without the Kids demographic and sign-up again next year. Check out this list if you need some recommendations! |
