| I put Decretum during Rika's abandon scene and it fit so well I genuinely feel like it increased quality by ten folds, that Kajiura's ost for you. Wonder Egg has a weird sense of writing proper resolutions to their character arcs, the set up makes sense, the build up is logical, the climax is perfectly handled, but the resolution really comes from nowhere most if not all the time. We don't really get why Ai suddenly stopped her NEET ways and went back to school and she brushes it off with "I realized beating myself up at home wouldn't solve anything", kinda abrupt. It's fine and understandable from a face value but the actual realisation was off screen and it doesn't justify her whole character doing a total 180° of her personality. Same thing with Rika here, she went from "I hate my mom" to "I hate myself I want to die" to "actually I'm fine with my life and accepts my mom for what she is" with barely any transitions whatsoever. I get the turtle made her go back to her senses but her conclusion to act more motherly unlike her mother did is inconsistent, she didn't resolved any of her problems she just decided to cope with it lmao that's not a very compelling character evolution. I'm going to quote Jose Mourinho on this one but If I speak about Rika's mom I'm in big trouble, big trouble, probably lifelong ban from this website, I prefer not to speak. |
