The guards were basically swimming in the radiation once they were looking for the king. edit: They actually omitted a couple parts of gyro in the anime and i'm hoping they flesh it out in the later episodes. You could go the chapters 203-204 and see why he's such a badass if you want. |

I mean Youpi dove straight into the thing. pfffttt i'm an idiot. Ultimately, their "animal" instincts were only really about survival, but what made them so dangerous and destructive was their human side. When a nuke explodes, the radiation doesn't disappear right away. Same thing with the Rose. |

| Errr guys are you sure it's radiation? What if King and Royal Guards are connected in the way that if one dies, the other weaken.. ? So, since Youpi died, a part of King died as well.. Ok maybe it's just as you suggested but i am just thinking of other reasons.. |

Gyro also had a small (2 panels) monologue about what he was going to do. I don't think Madhouse is ever going to animate it. I'm surprised that Madhouse chose Palm to be the one who talks about the cruelty of humans. Another awesome episode, but Palm and Ikalgo's convo had weird pacing. I think they were trying to make it really intense, so that viewers knew the impact of what they were foreshadowing... but it kinda failed (some pauses were just too long, imo). |

What could be a better way to end this arc than to avoid the usual shounen 'final battle' by ending the lives of the ants in such a underwhelming and depressing way? It's signature togashi. |

Yeah one of the reason this is one of my favorite shounen arcs is that it ends in a really unconventional way, Togashi's writing is really suited for seinen in my opinion :] Also you'll see the importance of how Mereum dies is central to the character developement of Mereum. |
