Bakemonogatari isn't really horrible; I can enjoy it a bit (cool OPs, cool looking characters, occasional funnies) but it's very pretentious. Using ridiculous color schemes, slideshows appearing out of nowhere, and having long dialogue is extremely annoying. Also, its story and character development isn't the greatest thing ever, and I feel that the fanservice and oddball presentation tries to cover that fault.

Another good episode. I am really impressed by the constant level of this show. There has yet to be an episode that is boring.

That said I have some mixed feelings with this one. The last part felt really intense and it was very original and awesome but I seriously had the feeling they were skimping more on animation than usual. I felt like there was a need for a bit of animation here and there and not just still images. Even for SHAFT there is a limit.
I also thought it was a bit rushed in the end. What about the 2nd snake which still sticked to her? She was magically gone at the end?

That said all in all I liked that episode and I still feel that this is this season's best show. The end dialogue between Kanbaru and Koiomi was especially great with him finally understanding that you can overdo helping others.

2 episode arc was a bit surprising but that can only mean better things to come. The new OP reminded me a bit of the snail arc OP and clearly indicated that Nadesko is in love with Koiomi. But it can't beat the first OP. I still don't get the relationship between Kanbaru and Koiomi, though. I mean she is homosexual, so she can't have romantic feelings for him?

Interesting ep. But the cut scenes are starting to piss me off.

Meh.. anyone else here hating the anime Opening music as well?

As a viewer you get forced to watch horrible opening theme (you guys probably love it).
Like for example the death note opening theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7IL1dcrSXw
Almost fucking dropped the show becuz of it. Just becuz of the opening.

I prefer the creators (in general) would throw less "J-pop" crap at the viewers.
And 'cast' suitable opening themes that adds up some atmosphere in the show.

Like for example this opening/ending that added some hysterical atmosphere to the show "Welcome to Nhk".

But the current J-pop crap openings in Bakemonogatari.. probably sells better.. Bleh!

Disliking the new Opening.

Being experimental is fine but they clearly overdid things in this episode
and somehow, I have a feeling, the show is going down a little.

Besides if one hates the new OP there isn't a need to make a big deal about it. Since the arc is over we're never going to see that one again anyways. If you did can always come back to this episode to watch it again later.

Well I thought the snake situation was well enough resolved. The charm took care of the first snake and Araragi yanked off the second. Since it failed to attach to him it gave up and ran back to the guy that Nadeko rejected. Too bad for him since I'm assuming it killed him or something like that.

I'm not sure that Araragi understood that you can overdo it. Just that he realized his limits. He can't do everything or save everyone. But in the end he can't give up on trying to save others. It's a conflict that will cause him problems.

Pretty much the sum of the episode. They did a good job at pointing out the problem he causes for himself.

A good episode *in concept*. The overuse of stills in the second half was irritating and overdone. I love this show, but if the rest is going to degrade into a still-fest like this episode, things will not look good.
Honestly, I wish they exerted more effort into this, than the new SZS.

I did love the OP though, it's too cute.

The fucking splash screens are ridiculous. They make up over half the action sequence! They might as well just give us a sideshow of what happened. Hell I'd prefer it over this piece of shit. Shows are supposed to entertain the viewer, not frustrate them to the point of throwing the monitor out the window. Worst episode so far.

Well, this episode wasn't bad, but it still seems pretty weak even in comparison to last weeks. This whole arc felt rushed and I think it's the weakest arc out of all of them so far. A lot of it was probably that I just couldn't really give a shit about Nadeko, while the main characters in the other arcs were far more interesting. Hopefully Tsubasa Cat will turn things around, but it seems unlikely they need 5 episodes for it, so I wonder if there will be a Koyomi Vamp arc at the end after all.

Well kinda annoying with the missing scenes.

Now I understand why Araragi still has some vampire blood left is because he won't abandon Shinobu, which make me curious for the reason why and what happened to him that made him an oddity.

"cut due to circumstances"

That's an euphemism to take to heart.

Really bad episode for obvious reasons. The OP was moetastic, so something good did come out of it, at least.

Limited animation at its best (huh or is it worst?). This arc was as short as it was boring, nothing much happened, and what happened had already been said and done in the previous arcs. Also no Senjougahara - THE main point of interest of the series -, which means less interesting 9th and 10th episodes. Oh and as previously said, animation AND direction were below average (for the first and last time I hope, since they were the two other strong points of the show).

Oh and once again, I totally agree with some comments on the fact that Bakemonogatari is overrated. It's barely in my top 5 of the season.

Oh so that's what those "cut due to circumstances" were. It's an original way to put it at least, and it didn't really bother me. You people are spoiled anyway, cry more.

Despite those scenes, I liked this episode and arc, not the best one but not too boring either. It probably also made all the loli-sis-con people happy. ^^

The novels and even the anime shows use dialogue to progress the story. Since there's usually a lot of talking in each episodes, SHAFT use random screens to make it less boring. It's being creative. I have mixed feelings about this episode, something that I didn't have until now, while watching Bakemonogatari.

One thing for sure - this is the worst arc until now and I won't argue about it, but I will state why. The main reason, it was just boring. The previous ones weren't, because the new girls introduced where interesting personas that were fun to watch while they interacted with Araragi. Nadeko... well, I think of her as a sad loli crying about her past and clearly in love with the main guy.

It's not that bad though, what saves it is the gory/horror-ish atmosphere and that Kanbaru gets some screentime too. Ah, and the new OP we got this time, which is pretty cool.

I'm also lowering the rating this time because we don't get no Senjougahara and that pizzes me off!

Anyone knows what those 3 episodes will actually be about?

Producer Shaft has previously been the subject of derision after it was revealed that the company is in dire and constant danger of failing to meet its production deadlines, presumably due to a lack of staff – in fact the company advertises on its website the fact that it is “urgently” recruiting animators.

Fans are hoping the missing scenes and incomplete animation will be restored/finished in the DVD version, but even so this hardly augurs well for future Shaft productions…

Thanks for pointing that out. I was under the impression that they where censors since they left out some vocal lines too (ie. Voice / Line cut due to circumstances) and all the stills happened when Araragi was fighting the snake.

It's pretty sad that they're releasing work when it's not even finished though. I really hope they finish it for the DVD releases.

The second part was pretty crappy. Especially the place where they just showed a still image of Araragi while he was sobbing and apologizing. On the whole the episode, it was alright, but I was kind disspointed to see the loads of the fighting scenes were, well, simply not animated. I mean I like their style and all that, but they overused it here to cover up production problems as it seems.

Yet again we can see how Araragi's hobbies with oddity, well now i can see that vampire is the king of oddity, no wonder he always bumped with oddity..

Anyone saw Senougahara in apron? i hope it's a good sign for the next arc, i'm very welcoming Senjougahara to make an appearance after long time..

I find that as every episode goes by, the show strays further from the original plot.

Unless I'm mistaken and Senjougahara isn't really a main character.
I originally thought this was going to revolve around the couple and how weird they both are. But it turns out there are a million characters and the protagonist has to have is own little story with every single one of them.

I still find this interesting but I was expecting something a little more ground breaking like the first 3 episodes were.

I'd first like to point out that I, apart from quite a few others, apparantly, did not think the new OP was all that good. I prefer Staple Stable : 3

Anyway, about the episode itself;
There wasn't only one, there were two! : O
And it's got to be hard fighting something that's invisible O.o

And I realized the greatest difference between Araragi and me, he does things because he wants to help people, I'm the opposite, I do things for others if it can be of any kind of benefit for myself : 3

Oh and btw, the ED is still the best around, can't come up with any other song that beats it at the moment : D
Protip: I don't really check the forums anymore, so if you want something, take it on my profile.
Is it time for my long-awaited return to the forums? щ(゚Д゚щ) Nope™, probably not.
