@NeoSchizo come on does it matter if she is small or not when she made the girl who isnt responsible for her problems kill herself and killed her dog. i think its natural to hate her :p

yeah, but a kid is a kid dawg, like we literally see why she hates her soo much, here family pushes their trauma onto her which causes her to lash out on the girl, the one who should die is the parents not the kids.

What an anime. I never would have expected to get this specific kind of feeling from an anime.
The art is beautiful and fits the theme perfectly, and the story is very expressive.
What I liked is that it’s easy to understand even for someone who struggles to find the hidden meanings in a story.
In this episode, the shift to the other point of view in the events was really amazing and emotional, and it made me feel pity for the blonde girl that I unbelievably hated.
I’m excited for the next episode and I have no idea how the anime will end, but I’m sure it gave me — and will keep giving me — scenes that stay in memory.

Takopi’s original sin has begun to feel more like a commentary on children and their response to trauma.

Marina, expressing her trauma as violence towards Shizuka, as she sees Shizuka as the source of her suffering.

Azuma, expressing his trauma with a distaste, even deep rooted anger, for his brother, being compared to him all his life.

Takopi who is experiencing human hatred for the first time and reflecting on his actions, he’s beginning to see, to make one person happy, another, few, must suffer, Marina, and her family in this instance. He can’t keep focusing on Shizuka or it’ll just get worse.

And Shizuka who expresses her trauma in many ways. From the start signs of her manipulative side has shown, such as her lying to Takopi about her use with the rope. But in this episode it’s shown more obviously with how she treats Azuma, she sees him more as a tool to get away with things.

Man... I don't think we should justify that murder incident. These kids' lives are screwed from the start.
Would I blame their parents? I'm not sure if I should.

Shizuka is totally unlikeable at this point. Total sociopath gone off the deep end. She could only be redeemed if she gains some self-awareness. Let's hope Takopi talks some sense into her.

Amazing ep

Ngl, I didn't expect Azuma to catch them leaving the scene.

The way Azuma got manipulated into a accomplice by Shizuka is insane, like he really a whole new character now. Hiding the body just bc Shizuka instructs him to was crazy as well.

That plan was never gonna work, I can't lie. Azuma's mother tripping fr, bro got an A, but no breakfast. All the parents in this show are oc.

I had a feeling that Takopi posing as Marina was gonna get him exposed (obviously), he simply let the mother down, all due to the father and if not the most random switch-up seen in anime. Family life was great, what changed???

Once again, Takopi is forced is develop as a character as he learns the consequences of his actions and the manipulation that Shizuka has on him. Marina went through a lot, I can't lie, this bs is insane. Children really are affected by their environment (nurture).

Now, the body has been found, juvie is near for those 2. As for Takopi, I can see him doing sum, I just don't know what or when.

being a parent is hard, but being the child of scumbag parents is much harder apparently.

@Ionliosite2
Reminder that Marina did nothing wrong and Shizuka is a bitch who deserves everything that happened to her.

Oh I don't think she deserved everything that happened to her, but yes of course she has mental problems, but never hurt anyone.

Shizuka turned into a sidecharacter now after the bullying stopped, which is kind of strange.
Also interesting that she starts manipulating Azuma into doing mean things.

It's interesting how Takopii learns that there is always another side to the story, through acting as Marina. I wonder if this will make him trust the other two less, or at least realize that everyone is flawed to some extent, because everyone is ignorant to some extent.

Azuma is an interesting character. He's very starved for emotional connection, and just wants to know that he matters. He must have felt bad every time when Shizuka told him that he can't help her with her bullying situation... I guess that's why he always liked Shizuka; she's somebody who is willing to talk to him unconditionally, possibly because he's the only person in her life who showed her any kindness.

We also get to see more to Shizuka this episode. She is no longer devoid of hope, and becomes... Oddly energetic..? Even though, as we all know: Chappy is not in Tokyo, nor will he ever come back. I also wonder if she's a self-centered person; I imagine that her life would have given her a me-versus-the-world mentality. She genuinely does not care about Marina's death, nor does she consider it wrong for Azuma to steal his older brother's ring if he wants to. I suppose having terrible things happen to you over and over again would remove a lot of empathy from a person; people can't care about others when they barely make it themselves. Now that Shizuka is finally able to control the things in her life – something she considers to be "magic" – I wonder if she will try to control it as much as she possibly can.

Wow, Naoki Azuma understood laws and shit, yet didn't get what his brother meant with 'hard working' eh? Lmao

Tbh, I don't think he 'understood' laws, too.

Like he knows it's bad but not how bad or why it's bad.

He simped too hard too and broke the law.

@iluvrefrigrators They buried it properly underground but didn't pack the soil on top. So, after a few days, the soil shifted and revealed Marina.

isnt it funny af that the murder, the wrong solution, the always wrong solution, worked plenty fine in halting lots of suffering?
this is the same as world leaders, "we mustnt kill anyone, the right way is imprisonment and repent" but then killing them simply solves everything and if we all acept it all its left is simply going forward like nothing happened. crazy

That was so f****d. I can not stop grimacing and being stunned at what I saw. Probably the most f*****d anime episode I watched, and that's saying something... and it's not due to gore or violence or whatever, but due to the huge mess and psychological consequences and implications, tension. The Japanese really mastered psychological horror, a la Ring, Grudge, etc.

Well directed episode. Takopi is intentionally frustratingly naive, and that self-reflection at the gravity of his situation hit hard. As well as the grief and pouring more salt in the wound on Marina's mom. Azuma's simp-o'-vision. Shizuka's awakened psychopathy/sociopathy; she's a villain now, and we're left wondering if she was a psychopath the entire time but it was hidden because she was bullied, or if she snapped and learned the wrong lessons and acting out due to finally being freed from her chronic torment, abuse, and trauma....

The messiness of everything was portrayed so well. The characters act very realistic... and unfortunately realistically FLAWED.

EDIT: And damn, I didn't realize Marina has the same VA as CHIKA and Roxy!

A bit unsure how I feel about this episode, wasn't feeling it in the first half but I was a big fan of it exploring Marina's home life more. Also really funny to me seeing Marina and her dad playing Pokemon Black 2/White 2 in a short scene, loved the detail there.

Shizuka basically turning into the villain this episode isn't surprising considering the ending of episode two and her abuse. People who go through childhood abuse have a higher risk of doing it when there older or when they are experiencing it, like with Marina too.

So pretty much, Azuma is the most sane character in the whole anime. This episode really depicts how adults can drastically affect their children's lives by being selfish and unaware of their actions. I feel so sorry for Takopi, he’s going through hell right now, but I guess that’s to be expected after the Marina incident. Can’t wait for the next episode.

I'm guessing Azuma will take the rap for the murder but Takopi will go to Kid's Prison in his stead. Shizuma and Azuma will head for Tokyo, Bonnie and Clyde style, to get Chappie. But I reckon Chappie is really a dead 'un just like Marina said. After that who the hell knows.
This show is so screwed up it makes me feel bad just watching but it's also very good.

This anime is one of the most heavy and traumatic I've ever watched, it just shows what being raised in a broken home can do to a child. All the parents shown have been abusive or neglectful, even Azuma had it rough with his mother demanding perfection from him. I'm more grateful than ever for my boring yet peaceful life.

On another note, the trio did a horrible job of burying Marina's body... it's no surprise she was found so quickly. I know they're only kids, but surely they didn't think it'd go unnoticed? I wonder how they'll handle the aftermath. Takopi seems like he understands humans a little better now, so hopefully he'll find a way to resolve everything.
