Yay, heterochromia. :3

She looks like an interesting enough character, awwww <3

If anyone doesn't understand the bit about carbon credits, it just means that the government/some international organization that deals with excess carbon emission, gives out 'credits' to each country that emits carbon. These 'credits' each has a limit of how much carbon can a country produce and therefore effectively reducing the total carbon emission in the world. And correct me if I'm wrong, these 'credits' can be sold/bought/traded by various countries and this is where the 'carbon index' thingy comes in. Idk, from what I learnt in Economics, it should be like this.

Anyway, great 1st episode, looking forward to the next one,

So this means that MEDUSA program sort of crunches credits or makes other country credits disappear.

AoT are very good with this series.

Yeah, I guess it's some sort of an underground monopoly that's trying to rally some back-up by targetting industrializing countries that need more credits by offering illegalized reduction in carbon taxes.

If you're a guy and you get a surgery to become a woman in my mind you're still gay.

What if you like women? Or if you're bisexual? Sexuality is not that simple.

ETA: Okay, that was kind of off-topic. My point is that just because you (general you, I am not claiming that Sick Bastard-kun said any of these things) do not acknowledge a character's gender identity does not mean that it's an anime full of OMG yucky gay shemales.

I feel bad. I watched the episode and didn't really find it all that interesting. I thought it was very forgettable. Just recently I read all these reviews praising it and I had to wonder if we watched the same show.

The entire time the little girl was on screen I kept thinking of Burst Angel (I think Amy was the little girl's name). I'm not saying BA was the first to do the loli-computer genius, but that's all I could think about.

I'll watch a couple more episodes because of all the positive buzz it's been getting. I feel like this is a show I should like.

Let me be the first to say good job Gonzo. With all their other recent stuff flopping, Shangri-La wasn't bad. They did a great job with the environment and the voice acting cracked me up. Despite the predictable fan-service, there may actually be tons of potential. It's just up to Gonzo now to do it. Also, I agree that much of the things were complicated, but I understood most of it and I think it adds to the deeper point of the show.

The concept is unique enough to make Shangri-La a real gem. Also, Barrett M182 love and lulz at heterochromatic. That makes 2 for this season now (other one was in Asura Cryin').

Hmm first thought was "ooooh"... then it was "aaaw"... then it was "hmm?"

An anime based on environmental issues and fighting... hmm I was not impressed all that much with the first episode but it wasn't bad either...

I will keep watching to see if it gets better...

The environmental issue related to global warming and CO2 emissions made me start watching this show.

But damn, i can't stand the main character. From character design, the dramatic entry and the voice acting. Eww. When i saw loli princess and loli genius i remembered that image where Charles zi Britannia says "Not this shit again". Kissing guy w/ boobs was okay...

Anyway, i'm patient, so i'm not gonna drop this. I hope it gets a little more interesting, because the plot base (environmental theme, the carbon theme and the social, policical and economical topic related to it) remains intact, and is good stuff.

Same for me ONLY about the environmental issue... Because, whereas you don't like the character designs, I LOVE them!! Especially Kuniko's (the main character)!!!! And I actually only found about the show last year because Range Murata was doing the character designs, who design's I am really fond of. Though I think the free-wheeling spirit and character design of Kuniko is awesome, to each their own preference! I must agree with you on the loli princess though, that is lame! I am found of loli geniuses with teddy bears, (and how that reminds me of last exile), so I can't complain about that. XD

It's a good idea with some bad execution. I feel like the world needs to be a lot grittier - things are awfully clean for a world where even important buildings are covered in ivy. And the prison scene - is there a reason why it was full of 12-year-old girls? I understand the idea of a women's prison, but a little girl prison is ridiculous, especially when the society running the prison seems so high-tech.

Some of the characters are pretty amusing. The Chinese empress girl, the loli-genius, and the TG whip lady are all fun to watch.

However... I can't imagine this show going anywhere. The execution is just so bad. If the first episode was planned like this, I can't imagine how the later episodes are going to get. I'll watch a few more episodes before deciding to drop it.

Metal-Age is an environment-protection group which can also be considered a terrorist organization, since they do not hesitate to fight the military when it seems necessary to them. However, the leader of Metal Age is a young girl who wields a strong boomerang that has the capability to cut guns in seconds. Pretty impressive!

Information bombardment i can take. Hot women turns out to be a Trap and a bathing trap turns up to be a bitch was okay...but the execution was horrible bad just like naikou said.

I'm just waiting till i get used to the glitter before making the final decision whether or not to drop it.

Agreed. That was probably my favorite part of the episode. I actually like the opening and ending, but I think the art's going to get to me...Kuniko's hair...I definitely won't drop it though. It reminds me of the whole dystopia avenue, which is pretty cool. Unique, fer sure.

Can't put a definite quote, but I agree with it being a tad bit boring and a little too detailed. Current rating around a 5/10.

First impressions about how this anime begins is simply superb. Animation quality is just what you could expect from GONZO - absolutely perfect. Opening was also well done and worth to be watched again and again. Characters all wery unique and interesting, and as for first episode there are quite a lot of them! And overall things are looking really promissing. And i'm now quite confused, cos' reveiews about this anime is quite negative and one friend who also watched it said it's a crap... o.O But I really really hope it's not complete truth but only a matter of taste. Anyway, i guess i'll find it out soon enough.=]
