i remember reading a few chapters of the manga and that's the main reason i watched the anime

i surely was hoping that it was a reincarnation and not actually a ghost possession but oh well
i liked almost everything, but her being a ghost, and specially the fake wedding thing was a little bad (i was hoping they would at least marry later, but at least they were seen happily eating together

anyway, was a great anime, i was gonna give it a 9 but the fake wedding (and also for not showing the actual ending, i checked last chapter after someone said there was a little more) made me drop a point lol

8/10. thanks for the interesting 5/6 hours i spent today

Solid finale for the most part. Keisuke and Moriya's plan to deceive Takae by faking their marital arrangement was lame and the fact of Takae apparently now being able to watch Keisuke from the afterlife and not addressing the deception was even more lame. Rest of the episode was nice tho, especially the part with Chika reading Takae's letter to later reunite with her daughter.

Overall, fairly good anime that started to get messy in the narrative department once it was revealed that Takae was possessing Marika's body. As a result, last third of the show was filled with forced melodrama, dumb miscommunication issues, unexplored side characters and a sense of pacing that felt notoriously faster due to the studio wanting to cram as many events as possible to reach this conclusion.
As for the good aspects, I gotta say the drama during the first two thirds of the show was executed nicely and the whole exploration surrounding Chika's character and eventual redemption was easily the best this show could offer in terms of writing. Seriously, following her growth as character throughout the five-to-six episodes it lasted was truly fascinating as well as deeply emotional for me.

7/10 - Came here looking for controversy, ended up finding arguably one of 2024's surprises.

how can they put seinen in this?
this is obviously for kids, it does not have a decent plot and the drama is destroyed by a lack of logic
these things have no immersion, the budget is the same as shoujo so the animation becomes static and the OST does not exist
completely mediocre and bland I say about this anime

The finale to the series. It is a bittersweet episode. It is better than what I would expected. The ED song is so good at the end scene there.

Many people are pissed because he lied and others are pissed because Takae didn't stay and many are pissed because they skipped many chapters.

I think the anime was great and without reading the manga you would never think that anything is missing. The lie is what made the ending better because it shows that he still loves his wife so much that he does not want to replace her and was willing to lie just to relieve her; beautiful ending and great character development.

Reminds me of the emotions I felt when I watched clannad ... 9/10

Man, what a roller coaster of a ride. I love this anime so much. From the beginning, I knew It'd destroy me, and It literally did. Now my throat hurts so bad I can't even speak, and my eyes are all red, and I teared up so many times throughout the series. I loved their family interactions so much, but all the sad scenes broke my heart.

I'm happy that Marika and Chika were able to make up and Mai and Keisuke were able to move on while Takae passed on to heaven peacefully. Thank you for making this and I'm really grateful that I was able to experience this masterpiece 💖

Personally, I'm glad it ended the way it did. You can't force feelings, and people will move on at their own discretion. Although rare, one can hold on to a love that cannot be replaced and live on with the memories. Keisuke was also true to Moriya, as he was unable to give her anything more of himself. Gotta respect that.

Even more, a child who has yet to begin her own life has it back. That's more important.

I'm kinda glad that Keisuke didn't remarry in the end. Overall really great show, I loved it.
@Maou_heika yeah, exactly! Why remarry? If your love was really true, then you'd be with Takae. Assuming you meet her in heaven, if you were with Moriya, how would you react when both of them go to heaven, would that love still be real? Would there be polygamy? I don't know dude, but what I believe in is a monogamous relationship between Keisuke and Takae, and it's beautiful.

Wow, what a cop-out to deceive Takae instead of truly moving on. That it was Moriya's idea after Keisuke shot her down made it even worse. I know he loves his wife, but that’s just ridiculous and unhealthy. This isn’t a resolution; it feels fake and unearned. I would have felt better if they had stayed together and gradually fallen in love, but I guess that was too much to ask.

It’s a missed opportunity to show real growth and leaves a bad aftertaste after such a beautiful story unfolds. At the end of the story, Keisuke is still alone. Yes, he may be content with his situation, but he didn’t make Takae happy. She fell for his deception and moved on, which was a cheap shot that Takae didn’t deserve.

As for Moriya, I can't believe she would go through with something like that. In the end, her tears weren’t tears of happiness. She lied and claimed they were, but it was clear to see she was hurting. This story could have ended much better. I guess I’m just overthinking it.
@stealthyone yeah, I partially agree with you. The idea kinda hurts Moriya in that respect. They should've done something else. However, I do not agree that Keisuke should remarry if he truly loves his wife. It would feel weird if you were going to see her in heaven.

In my imagination, afterwards the Nijima x Shiraishi families maintain a steady relationship because of what happened. Chika becomes like a 2nd mom to Mai. Mai becomes like an older sister to Marika. Perhaps down the line, Keisuke & Chika get married. Takae up in heaven, smiling.

I’m emotionally exhausted because I finished such a phenomenal anime! All my life, I’ve always said Ranma is the best anime because it was the first anime I ever watched. Then I’d say Conan is the best because it was part of my childhood and I got really attached. Then I’d get confused when people asked me what the best anime I’ve ever watched is. Really confused. Do I say Kingdom Season 3? 86? Blue Box? There were so many I couldn’t choose between! But now, with confidence, I can say Tsumasho is the best anime I’ve ever watched. Not just the best seinen—but the best anime I’ve watched, period!

I love family and everything it represents. This anime delivered a deep message about family. About love, loyalty, gratitude—so many values I already care about deeply in real life. And to see a work that focuses entirely on these values? It was perfect. The story was beautiful—just like Mai said to her husband, “Now is the right time for me to tell you a beautiful story...” She was right—it was a beautiful story. If I get married, I’ll make my wife watch this anime, haha! Why not? It’s just that good.

One quick note… I really thought Keisuke would marry Moriya in episode 10—even though deep down, I didn’t want him to. I wanted him to stay loyal to Takai until the very end. And even though I don’t mind someone remarrying after their spouse dies—it’s not betrayal or wrong and doesn’t lessen the importance of the first wife—for Keisuke? It’s different. He shouldn’t remarry. He’s in his 40s with an amazing daughter. Marriage just doesn’t seem essential at his age. Besides, he already has Takai in his heart, and the memories they built in that one year are enough for a lifetime! I was hoping it was all a prank or something—and it turns out he didn’t marry Moriya…

Also, the dream Keisuke had—I just wished Keisuke and Takai could sit and talk one more time in the real world! Have a serious conversation, even once! And that dream… that was the best scene. It was the most heartfelt goodbye. Even better than when they both said, “We’ll take care of Mai.”

Thank you to this anime. 10/10. Thank you for everything. Thank you for every second. Thank you for the wonderful story. I think this family will be my phone and laptop wallpaper for a while—until I bring Ranma back again in the future, haha.

A question for you, dear reader of my comment: Did you love the show? Share your opinion with me—send me a message or reply here! I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts, even years from now. Don’t hesitate.

Nah wth was that ending about deceiving Takae. This anime was questionable, but not for the reasons I originally thought. Shame given that it's a pretty good "coping with a loss of a loved one" story outside of this.

In general a good anime. It started just okay (first 3 episodes), but episode 4 onwards the anime became exponentially engaging.

I have mixed feelings about they deceiving Takae like that. I know they were doing that for her, so she can move on in peace; it worked but it left a bitter taste in my mouth for obvious reasons.
I think they could have done that differently (for example: right after Mai's marriage or during it).
Unless that was their true intention instead of going for something more safe? But still...

What I specially liked in this anime is how the characters were more real; I mean, close to what could really happen in real life. Also, how they didn't keep Takae's secret for themselves until the end of the anime (I can see many animes doing that); they shared her secret (about possessing Marika-chan) with those close to them or with those who needed to know what was happening.

This is a 7.5/10 for me. But unfortunately Ill have to choose between 7 or 8, and I am leaning more towards 7/10.

I don't plan to fully read the manga, but I can't help but to check out the manga and see how much it differs -or not- from the anime.

A great anime. Very sad, very emotional. Lots of cute girls, milfs, and lolis to cheer for.

The story was done very well. I liked all the characters. I didn't care for Chika at first, but she really did redeem herself. The entire time though I felt like something was missing. There were so many potential directions for the show to go. So many serious and terrible things that could have happened. A part of me wanted to see what would happen if Keisuke ended up shunned at work, if he refused to let Takae go, if Chika got even worse. All interesting ideas that would have fundamentally changed the story. But at the same time I'm glad they didn't do any of them.

Mai's romance moved so fast. I realized it had to in order to fit within a year, but it was still crazy to witness.

A big part of me wanted to witness the full weight of Keisuke's grief like the first episode. Part of me wanted the first episode to show their happy life and Takae's death and then the next few mired in grief as things slowly devolved. It would have made the highs hit even higher, but it would have also completely changed the tone of the show.

I don't know. I'm wracking my brain, and I just can't figure out what's missing. I didn't really want Keisuke to marry Moriya either, although I would have been fine with it.

8/10. Something is missing. But if there's one thing that I took away from this show, it's that a loving wife and a loving mother can truly be wonderful things. Perhaps that's what's missing in the end. I've never had either of those. But then love stories can still touch my heart, even though I've never had a girlfriend. I don't know. Something is missing.
