Jet Set Radio - Edo Version.

It was a satisfying ep. but I want to see where the main story's going.
For the ones that like to bother others (like me) with "you should read the manga/LN", please stop. I don't read mangas, I will NOT read mangas, I will not listen to what manga readers complain in adaptation to the anime counterpart, I only watch anime except in very few and specific situations.

11 years ago I watched Samurai Champloo for the first time, and this was one of the episodes that really stuck with me. And I'm so thrilled to watch it again so many years later and it still makes me laugh. It's just fantastic and hilarious how the Edo-period setting comes together with the hip hop culture. The sub plot revolving around Mugen and how that struggle is portrayed couldn't have been done any better. The main story with the taggers and how it is used both as an analogy for sword fighting and territory dominance is clever.

I think this was probably the first "samurai street art" episode in the history of anime. For that alone, it's also one of the coolest episodes in the history of anime. And Mugen learning to read and write his name as "infinity" was priceless.

Thus far, this is what I expected Samurai Champloo to be like when I first started: a potent fusion of Edo-period Japan and the hip hop culture of the 1960s and 1970s. Something that's brash, striking, colorful, disruptive and unique to anime. Thus far, there's been a few hints here and there with the soundtrack, occasional characters, and some of Mugen's fighting moves, but this episode is what I really wanted. It's really something I've never seen before: street artists tagging up Hiroshima Castle.
