Funniest episode so far and Rikka-centric to add :) it had to be awesome.

So they went full Chihayafuru with playing karuta (which is as always serious business), weird Queen and properly themed monster - poor Ira, either his creations are to cute to intimidate or they are do things like this.
At least "fight" was something different and fun to see. But I hope they will just gather all those stones and that's it - no searching again :P

And of course whole part with Rikka's dreams was so adorable - nice to see her doing her best to reach her dreams... even if her actions are slightly misinterpreted by others (moment when fairies were talking about her being an delinquent was hilarious and realistic... after all it was shown on TV).
Still best part of episode were interactions between her and parents - so heartwarming :) I hope to see more of those.

Rikka as delinquent and why Queen is a "bit" weird

PS. I wonder how many small girls might start play karuta now ;) this has to be some kind of conspiracy.

Karuta? I felt like I was watching another episode of Chihayafuru. I kept thinking that Chihaya would come out at some point with Taichi and Nikuman.

I sure hope there won't be dozens of these crystals.

The episode wasn't bad. The fight could've been better and the selfish of the Queen was pretty random.

Pell has degrade into Regina's butler. LOL

I sense that these "character focused episodes" were connected to these "Royal Crystals". so far we have Alice and Rikka with their representative crystals. Next week is Makoto's, which should reward her her own colored gem... And so on. But the red one...

So much head-screaming right now. My eyes can not stop staring at Ai, Joe, REGINA, the rumored "Cure Ace"... And even the blue jay.

Even for a magical girl season... Wow. I am thinking to much?

But overall it was fun to watch with some family bonding moments. :3

*Meanwhile my eyes is focused on 'ihateeveryone's' animated avi and sig. X_X*

Some people aren't enjoying this season for many reasons, though most of the time, it's due to Mana being too perfect, the fights are boring, the girls are bland, the materialization of the monsters of the week is weak, it's a cheap carbon-copy of Fresh, and such. Some are also starting to say this is the weakest series, but then again previous seasons also had this kind of treatment in a similar fashion too.

It seems likely the Royal Crystals are related to the focused character's "development", which makes me wonder how and from who the fifth one will materialize... either a new character/cure will make an appearance (or Regina changes sides) or it represents the four girls altogether, where the former seems more likely to happen.

I like this episode for its take-home message, which is saying that it's okay to try things outside from your main goal from time to time, and not feel guilty about it. Having the parents relaying this 'moral of the story' makes it heartwarming too.

And now I must recover from the adorableness that is Hishikawa Rikka.

I realize that you are only a "messenger", excuse me then as I use information you provided as a gateway for my opinion ^^ I need to vocal my opinion about the show somewhere.
I like my Mana "perfect" (altough I see it more as "reliable" and "not a complete idiot that accidently got the Leader Baton") after the utter horror Miyuki was. I usually don't like leaders in any show that has a team and somebody must give the commands but Happy takes the cake with her stupidity along with Candy. So - while Mana isn't my favourite character - I just love her perkiness while attacking and actually having a good leadership qualities to back up her role.

I hear the "boring fights" statement every season, so I won't argue about that one. To each it's own.

Makoto is the only one who is completely bland to me. Her "outsider's naivety" is poorly executed and she seems to be riding entirely on her moe-cuteness factor. Such a shame because I was expecting someone cooler.
Alice is perfect with her subtle Big Sister undertones to rest of her friends and her outlook at world. Rikka actually THINKS and asks logical question (too bad the rest of the cast doesn't care :D), she's easily my favourite in DokiDoki. Mana is okay, she has my approval though. MakoPi is the only one that bugs me.

As for the monsters: I am truly happy that Toei is focusing on developing the girls and their CLOSEST environment like families and school than some random dudes and dudettes that pop up for one episode and we have to hear through their boring and nonsensical drama just to make it to the moral at the end. The only thing that perks me is that those people ALWAYS see their error before materialization but then again it's kids show, that's understandable.

I suppose the "Fresh-copy" comes from the fact they have a baby in their midst, huh... Yeeeeeeah. And the "weakest series" statement shows up with every PreCure season just like "boring fights". So here you go.

***

As for the episode: I didn't like the Queen's breakdown, it was kinda OOC. The rest was enjoyable and RIKKA WHY CANNOT I CONTAIN ALL THOSE FEELS. I hope Regina won't be the next Cure, I think it's quite enough for now with
changing sides. I think that Ai will prove to be Queen's baby form after losing her powers or something, and then she will transform in teenage girl. That's my bet.

Rikka is my favorite character in this series, so a Rikka centric episode is very welcome. Interesting to see how they could mistake Chihayafuru karuta game playing as rebellious delinquents seeking fights X-D And I am surprised that karuta game also exists in the Trump Kingdom ;-)

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Am I the only one who likes the fights? Sure, the girls get power ups way too quickly, but I felt that most monsters of the week were pretty fun and that they actually use somewhat creative ways to beat them compared to the other seasons I watched.

Anyways, I really love this episode. I thought it was pretty funny. I just finished watching the first season of Chihayafuru and the similarities were .. very amusing. I do hope Regina makes her move soon though. Also, Rikka is awesome.

A 4.

I am starting to like Rikka a lot. Mana is cool also. The others are just kinda there.

But yet I like the others transformations better. Rosetta and Sword. I think they could have did better with Rikka than "Diamond".

I do kinda like the ED a bit more now. Still like all of Smile's songs better. Mostly the ED's. I don't think I can ever like the OP of Doki.

For some reason I think the funniest part of the episode was when they ignored Alice when she said the logical statement questioning how the queen played karuta. They acted like it didn't even happen.
Also Rikka is moving up in my book. She wasn't my favorite after she became a Cure, but she is getting nice development and is turning into a great character.

Oh so that's what ProZD was talking about in his Chihayafuru video

So Ira was floating there behind the Queen and no one saw him... cool. The Queen's monologue too, she said everything out loud and seems like no one around her said anything. Yeah I'm thinking way too hard about this.

This reminded me of Chihayafuru.

Rikka and her mother were sweet together.
