I love the Sanya/Eila pair because Eila seems like a fun person to tease.
Eila must be like god tier though.

Somebody fit the other witches in a tier list.

Touching episode indeed.
When Sanya was swimming and Hartmann jumped in for a short moment there i thought Hartmann was Lucchini.
Hartmann and Lucchini seem to have similar personality's at times, wonder if there will be a episode donated to Hartmann.

That Ginger tea part was also funny Lynne being British to the core.
Also Lynne shooting at Perrine and Eila was a good scene to.

Everything from the sniper shield practice to the loli rocket was epic. Best episode so far, music, story , character development, and even the fan service was really well done. This season is turning out to be way better than the first.

totally disappointed with this one. the whole episode just felt childish. i was thinking that perhaps they might not make it lame and have her suddenly use her shield at the last minute and sure enough she did. they haven't really gone to the real meat of the issue, namely the new enemy that seemed to be more ruthless than the previous one. oh well.

Also, next episode is episode 7. The 7th episode last season was the epic one, so I wonder if AIC will make episode 7 epic again. (and the preview makes believe they will)

Great episode with plenty of tasty fanservice, although I'm starting to have a grudge against the sun and it's devious rays -.-' ;P

A bit cheesy with the whole I "I can't do this unless I have to protect my loved one", and very predictable.
Still quite an enjoyable episode and I loved how Eila's kept demoting herself for the mission when she bragged about never having to used a shield xD

I get what you're saying but imo it wasn't that cheesy. Normally it's like this: can't do something, then something happens and you HAVE to protect your loved one. But this time it wasn't that Eila had to do it, but she went through trouble to actually get the chance to protect her. And since the problem from the start was just that she couldn't get rid of the habit of dodging there were no big "impossible tasks", it was just about finding the determination and getting over jealousy to do something one already could do. So imo it could have been a lot more cheesier and typical, a lot worse

I'm glad they have. I've always liked most of the other girls more than her. I rather see the other girls more than Yoshika being apart of everything. And it's not like Yoshika still isn't apart of everything. She went shopping last episode, and was initially suppose to be the person that was going to protect Sanya.....

I don't know why but so far this season at the end of every episode I feel like I've just watched 5 minutes of nothing. It's like the story disappeared completely and every episode is just completely random and theres hardly any dialogue this time @.@;;

And +1 to the feeling like Yoshika has been put aside...the only episode I'm ok with this happening in was of course the Lucchini episode :D

I liked this episode. I thought Eila was pretty boring in the first season, since she got like 4 lines. It was nice seeing more of her personality in this episode.

Also btw, in case anyone wants the insert song they played at the end, it's already been released last season with the "hime uta" drama/character song cds. It's on the 2nd one, and it's called "sweet duet"

One thing I think is funny is that in the OVA Eila was in the battle formation in lead with Hartmann and Gertrude. Of course nothing was said out loud but I believe that since she was grouped with them the original plan in OVA for Eila was that she would be in more prominent roles in battles (I'm not really saying they made the character weaker in the series, just that she was given a different role). Which kinda saddens me since the soldier Eila is based on, Eino Ilmari Juutilainen, was the best(!) non-German WWII ace.. so it kinda feels like he/she got ripped off in the actual series. Hopefully they'll show a bit more of that side of her later in S2.
But they did manage to make Eilanya adorable in exchange, and I wouldn't trade this specific episode for anything.

I found some translation errors in the official sub (based on HorribleSubs).

05:12
Minna says "We're taking over for the Romagna Air Force and Navy."
After that, Mio says "Shall we show them what we're capable of."
My translation:
"The Romagna Air Force and Navy are taking over from us.
"Shall we see what they're capable of."
(thus it connects to 15:14 where Mio says "Guess it's our turn.")
I don't know why this kind of basic grammatical error can happen in "official" subs.

10:44
Eila says to Perrine, "Sorry. But you weren't getting fully into it."
My translation:
"Sorry. But I can't get fully into it for (protecting) you."
Then Perrine's anger makes much sense.

11:47
Eila says to Sanya, "No, she was terrible."
Here she obviously says "no good" about deploying shield, not about Perrine.
I wonder if this translator actually comprehend the story.

16:00 ginger tea scene
Erica "You weren't kidding."
Barkhorn "Oh, but it's not as sweet as I expected-"
My translation: "It's bad." "Oh, but it's not as bad as I expected-"
(Erica's line is a colloquial form of "mazui (yuck)", not "maji (kidding?)")

22:12
Sanya "but we have to return."
"but we have the place where we can return."
It's subtle diffrence, but many Japanese may associate this line with the
first Gundam's last scene, so I just want to point out.

As for episode itself, it was good but I couldn't help thinking there's too many
violations of order in recent episodes.

Yes, there were a lot of errors in this episode, and I did notice all those you pointed out, particularly about some of their choices for Eila's speech. She's rough and a little rude, but not to the point that she'd say Perrine was terrible. She didn't even say that. It kind of hindered enjoyment, but I guess for others who don't listen to the original dialogue or are just watching this for the fights/panties, then it won't matter.

This single episode had the energy of a full-fledged 90' movie: intro, problem, character growth, moment of separation, climax, ending song. This was so, so unexpected. I had faith in the series since the early episodes in the series, but it doesn't cease to amaze me. They pulled off in ~20 minutes what most of movies can't during their whole duration.

I'm happy I picked this up back in the day passing over all the pantsu criticism. Of course, panty shots are always a plus anyway. :3

Unfortunately, there was way too much CG witches, both at the beginning (group flight scene) and at the ending (loli rocket pyramid). And where's the water/bathing scenes that made me lofe the first series' animations so much? I need a mizugi episode! I know there's gonna be one! A redo of the missing panties one at least... XD

One last think: you think you're gonna be cold at -70°? Why don't you wear some damn pants then? :\
This is the very first time I questioned the missing pants. But whatever, probably wearing pants is punished by martial law.

As tehnominator also said, Eila didn't say Perrine or her ability was terrible.
In that training Eila was supposed to protect Perrine by activating shield, but Eila couldn't.
Eila was blaming herself (her ability of her plan of training), but in official sub, she was blaming Perrine.
That is the point.

It would be logical, but that's not what Eila said. Perrine got upset because it was more like Eila didn't think she was "worth saving" and so kept dodging on instinct whereas with Sanya, she might have taken the full blast for her.

What Eila did say was that it was no good. The training session was no good. Saying that something was no good and saying someone is a terrible teacher are two vastly different things. I don't think Eila was that snobby to ask for help and then proclaim that Perrine was a bad teacher-- she was an equally terrible student. So what she said was that it was simply not good or that nothing good came out of the practice.

Magnificent episode.

Unlike your usual Pantsu Witches episode, I found myself touched by the events that took place instead of being greatly amused. Especially when Eila more or less confesses to Sanya near the end of the episode with all that "I'll fly to the edge of the world for you"-stuff, I found it difficult to believe that I'm still watching Strike Witches. This is probably the best Pantsu Witches episode I've seen thus far. Yes, I know I'm repeating what a lot of people are saying but that's what I think of it. Also, the second season has been vastly superior to the first in pretty much every sense. Since this is my first post in a thread related to this show, might aswell blurt that out even though it probably means little to nothing to anyone reading this.

And, well, that's pretty much all I have to say thus far. Let's see if AIC follows Gonzo's footsteps and makes ep 07 the ultimate fanservice episode. I wouldn't be surprised - it would probably serve as an attempt to balance things after having such a serious and dramatic sixth episode. If it goes that way, well... we'll see if it succeeds. If not, then... well, not. I'll probably enjoy it either way.

To be honest, I laughed pretty hard. Let's draw a veil over 'physics' since breaking its rules is common in movies/shows nowadays. However what's the point is how this series overstates everything... all those 'feelings' are exaggerated and artificial that it just feels funny. It was the weakest episode in this season and I dare to say that probably the weakest in the whole series. I know that it's just another stupid ecchi action anime, but for god's sake, can't they create something a little bit more original and natural? Apparently not...

since I have free time maybe i just to some argument here as well ^^
What Eila did say was that it was no good. The training session was no good. Saying that something was no good and saying someone is a terrible teacher are two vastly different things.

based on the "training session" in this episode, we have to know that the training session is control/teach by a human.Human is what makes the training session success not the training session. The training session is not to be a blame, because it can be substitute by any tutor or altered rulez. It is a generalize saying that we should blame human's fault ,not the rule because human makes the rule, not the opposite.
I don't think Eila was that snobby to ask for help and then proclaim that Perrine was a bad teacher-- she was an equally terrible student. So what she said was that it was simply not good or that nothing good came out of the practice.

Eila is too prideful to blame herself. here is how I explained it.
Eila ask for Perrine's help because Perrine has a rivalry against Miyafuji.
Miyafuji =good at shield
prideful Eila = Bad at shield
prideful Perrine hate Miyafuji. Eila + Perrine ?
Obviously,The whole idea of asking Perrine for help is a troll fail(if you know what i mean) -_-:
Anyway, we have to realize that Eila is a proudful faggot which has pride over for not putting up a shield .Do you think she will ask for Sanya her best friend's help? During the Sauna scene,Eila hide the conversation when Sanya come in(I am not making this explanation up).
At the end, Eila able to put up a decent shield because of Sanya.Of course, the story would be more dramatic if Eila will put up shield along with Perrine ....//
Although the moral of this story might sound a little twisted on discrimination on friendship(bad moral to teach kids but who cares) but still I enjoy the this particular episode just to let you know .

...I don't really know what point you were trying to make with that training session speech, I think you just misunderstood what the other person said a bit. But the point, what happened in the episode, was that Eila said that it was no good, with which she meant that she couldn't do it. She wasn't really blaming anyone, not Perrine, not the training and neither herself. She just said that it didn't work. There was no indication that she was talking about Perrine when she said that, none.
And since (at least) every Japanese fan of the show knows that Eila can't handle her loving feelings for Sanya, calling her へたれ, it's not like she's a "prideful faggot", she just thought it was embarrassing thing to show Sanya.
But.. ugh.. damn it's really difficult to follow your thought. I think you're over-thinking it and creating motives out of nothing. But the whole point of this argument is that did Eila blame Perrine? And as I said before, there was no indication that Eila was blaming Perrine. Even though Sanya called it "ペリ=ヌの特訓" literally "Perrine's practice", she meant "practice with Perrine", that was just to tell that she new she was practicing with Perrine, she didn't mean anything more with that. Ugh it's really hard to explain this but the point again is that in the original Japanese dialogue there was no indication that Eila was blaming anyone.
