| Homare's character appearance! Didn't take long for her to appear in this anime. She seems a bit timid and prone to crying by the looks of it. This episode seems to still be in the early stages of its introduction with Shiki training himself for his goal. I mean, no one should be surprised that he motivates himself for revenge. |

| So we got the pink haired girl(who is far from being as mid as Sakura) and the cool guy wanting to get revenge on someone(don't tell me he's after a family member who killed the rest of his family) That's enough for me to call them Team 7 xD That said, I'm still glad that I sticked around because so far each episode is more enjoyable than the previous one. |

| Man I can't get over how good the OP song is. Shiki wants to avenge his father, while I'm assuming Jin wants to get revenge against someone. That's probably what he means when he says they'll never understand each other. Intense episode with Homare's blood powers going out of control, but at least Shiki finally figured out how to control his own blood. |

| Yeah, nothing says kindness like killing off kids who don’t meet your standards, all to “save” them from dying later. And let’s not forget, he knew exactly why Shiki couldn’t use his ability properly, but decided to withhold that info for no reason at all. It’s not like letting Shiki figure it out himself would’ve made him stronger or anything, right? This whole show feels like a fast-forwarded mashup of every big-name shonen. It steals the surface-level traits, speeds through the story, and skips the actual stakes. None of the characters have time to become more than just their basic archetypes, and it really shows. |

| Starting the episode with the opening sounds great to me, I will nevet get tired of saying this opening is REALLY good. I'mma be honest, I got a little confused with the rules of the game, I thought the 7 of them would do it at the same time, but apparentaly it's by groups, which makes me wonder why Mudano chose Shiki, Kougasaki and Byoubugaura for the group of 3, since, by the rules, one of them would be expelled. It's clear Mudano actually quite cares about them, and is trying his hardest to make them strong, so I wonder if there was a reasoning behind this. We got to know Kougasaki and Byoubugaura better this episode. Kougasaki apparentaly wants to join a certain unit to meet a certain person, I guess we'll end up discovering who. But I must say, this only makes his character even more similar to Sasuke xD Byoubugaura certainly has some trauma to do with her sister, and I'm sure this uncertainty she has about everything must come from there. But her attittude towards Shiki at least helped him in caring for someone there, even if it's more like no girl ever talked to him. Saw someone saying Byoubugaura was similar to Sakura, but the only similar thing is the pink hair (so no, we don't have the trio Sasuke, Naruto and Sakura here). Mudano explained the whole Oni's blood system more this episode, and it's honestly a bit like I expected, they make an image on their brain, and that impulse is transmited to the blood. Shiki also realized he only had to envision a gun so that he could create one, and so he did, but I wasn't expecting such a powerful shot to destroy the "Big Sister" titan from Byoubugaura. Even Mudano was shock, he clearly made a good choice to give Shiki a chance, even if he's only doing these feats by the vibes. Really curious to see how this will play out next episode though! I'm not sure why, but I'm enjoing this weekly dose of Tougen Anki, the plot so far hasn't been quite original, since it mixes a lot of Shounen troupes (when Kougasaki pulled the chainsaw I was like "oh, even Chainsaw Man makees an appearance in this anime"), but it's working for the anime, and I'm finding it quite amusing, since it's doing thos troupes the right way at least. Even the more "comedic" scenes, fit the anime more, than for example the random comedic scenes Demon Slayer has, that is something I'm not enjoying that much in that anime, but in this one it doesn't feel off for the scene or characters. So I'm really excited what the anime can do with this setting going foward, as I think it has the possibility to do something more unique with the plot, after these first few arcs, and that's also important to notice, because I've seen way to many anime that start off unique, and then just end up becoming really generic along the way. Also, the fight scenes with the CGI were enjoyable. Obviously it would be peeak if they were 2D, but as I have been saying the CGI is working here, so I really don't mind, it's better than getting a PowerPoint presentation. Excited for episode 4! |

| It's okay, the ED and OP are bangers. But the CGI blood is not really covering up the lack luster animation and the plot is taking it's sweet time to develop into anything meaningful. I said before that I dislike the MC and hoped the supporting cast would make up for his shortfalls, but so far we have another punk with a chip off his shoulder and a girl who keeps saying sorry every other sentence. I might give this an extra episode to solidify my decision. |

I hope this anime has at least 2 cours because I assume we're not gonna get out of this forest training arc until at least episode 6.

@pixelante It's interesting how opinions are divided, while some people say the pace is too fast, others say nothing is happening throughout the entire episode.
| @nandao that is because as fast paced as it seems we are learning nothing much at all. Well, we got a few hints, but for a school-like setting information is thin on the ground and rather they got thrown in the deep end for reasons. |

Ok I have a question. Why did Rokuro say “at least three students will be expelled”? If shiki’s team gets a ball and gets to the school, and one of the other two teams gets a ball and gets to the school, wouldn’t that mean only two students are expelled?

| Sure didn't take long for the power system to become irrelevant. Like why even use blood if it's allowed to burst out without a wound and make something 20 feet tall with hair and teeth? Now you're left with generic energy but kinda gross. I don't need all that much when in the mood for a dumb battle shounen, but I'm thinking this won't clear even the low bar. |
