Sub, I can’t stand anything dubbed. I wished I could watch anime raw, but I’m not going to go out of my way to learn Japanese, just so I can watch anime.

I can relate, I also used to want to learn Japanese just so I can watch anime without subtitles. But I feel like it isn't worth it cause I have school on the other hand. I may pick it up again someday when I get the time.

I just find dub really cringe. The voice acting is very very mediocre.

Dub is clearly superior /s. No seriously, I don't think I've watched any dub besides when I was a kid and was watching the dubbed versions of Pokemon, DBZ etc.

I watch Sub.

But I don't mind watching either too be honest.

But sub anime is my preference. I just feel more emotion behind the lines for the Voice actors.

true but as a childhood I did enjoy Yugioh Dub. That being said SUB 100% of the time.

When I watch dub now,it just doesnt seem right to me but that is just me.

@irishmonk, dubophobia is a good name to call it lol. Yeah I think majority would of started dubs then later moved onto sub. I remember, there was no dub left for Digimon and i searched for hours only to find sub avilable. At first I wasnt comfortable then got used to it and never looked back since the years.

@irishmonk, is it one of those when you put your glasses on, you become a genuius? :)

Plus for dubs, it takes like a year or half a year at least for it to be released

I watch sub exclusively but I respect people who watch dub's opinion too

I started with dub though and I watched my first two anime (Death Note and Sword Art Online) in dub, however I rewatched SAO in sub a little while ago and I plan to rewatch Death Note's sub version too!

I like sub since I don't like the English voice acting most of the time. I have watched a few Dubs because they are known for being good or the animation gives me a vibe of a western cartoon.

I'm a sub guy because
1.original dialogue, its what the japanese listened to first
2.lots of anime are just people standing and talking without much animation (and the talking is just the mouth movement flipping between 2 frames over and over and when u realize that it will kill you)
3.Japanese voice acting is like a business, the dubbing industry has a few people from texas or something
4.Dubs are gay

ok bye

Historically I've preferred Dub because it would let me multi-task that way I could enjoy the show while also getting some sort of work done that doesn't require much focus. Plus on rare occasions the localization actually makes the show even better (for example "Baccano" or "Panty & Stocking").

However once I got into voice acting I became a lot more aware of the who the actual people were behind these characters (even ended up becoming acquainted with some of these actors) and frankly the sheer amount of terrible human beings working behind the scenes in the english dubbing scene for anime is jaw dropping. And unfortunately it ruins my ability to enjoy the dubs for any of these shows because a lot of these characters will start talking and the second they do immediately I recognize the voice and am like oh yeah that's that voice actor that tweets a bunch of hateful stuff all the time oh yeah that's that voice actress who destroyed her friend's career over petty drama oh yeah that's that voice actor who secretly abuses woman but goes after other people for that so that nobody suspects him oh yeah that's that voice actress who - and so on and so forth. It ruins the immersion and puts me in a bad mood because I'm reminded of the disgusting direction society has been heading the last several years and am upset that this awful behavior is getting rewarded. Normally I'm a separate the art from the artists kind of guy but it's harder to do when it's a ton of awful people as opposed to just a few awful people.

Although there are definitely still some super talented voice actors in the english dubbing scene that I'm wishing nothing but the best for that I hope can basically do what a lot of the old guard (actors like Johnny Yong Bosch or Yuri Lowenthal) did and eventually be able to move up and away to more "prestigious" work instead for big game studios and American animation companies. Although unfortunately the barrier between these two sections of the industry has been fading away and you're starting to see game developers and cartoon studios hire voice acting agencies / production companies that normally are only able to get jobs in anime (because anime is becoming more mainstream and studios obviously want to hire actors people already know) so I think we're probably gonna see the contamination spread unfortunately.

I would usually go for sub, but if it's an anime that I used to watch on my childhood I need to watch the dub version, just because it would be so weird to not listen the voices that I have in my head for them.

Subbed anime for first-time watching

Dubbed anime usually for second-time watching

There have been exceptions where I've watched anime in Dub first bc I've heard that it's really good and better than Sub and wanted to see for myself.

I’m a dub guy but I also watch sub when there’s no dub available. It makes it easier to watch, especially when I’m doing chores and don’t have to constantly read. Sometimes the VA have good fun with lot of anime’s and it’s fun to hear that.

I've answered this question many many times but I am a sub person. Mostly because I don't understand English well and there's not dubs in my language (other than for small kids). And of course there's the own feeling of watching something in its original language.

Sub almost all the time. However, when I rewatched Gunsmith Cats last year I went with the English dub, and when I rewatched Redline last year I remember thinking that it probably would have been more enjoyable in English, since there is so much going on that it's hard to pay attention to text and the action simultaneously.

I prefer sub and usually only watch that, unless I'm rewatching "old" shows (like Naruto etc) in the background while working on something I don't mind dub. I don't usually go out of my way to watch dubbed though.

I usually watch the first episode of every anime in both sub and dub, and then choose which one should I opt for. I mainly watch sub, but there are some anime, like Code Geass, FMA, AOT, Death Note, Steins Gate, Ghost Stories, Naruto, etc. that I enjoyed more in dub.
