THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- I like the feeling and the artwork of the anime. It might be pretty obvious but the characters remind me of K-ON. The opening song is very different and not quite my taste but I did enjoy the ending song. Hope the series will continue to be great and not fail my expectations. |

This is great! It has French in it and I am French! :D I really like Sorami Kanata and that other girl Rio Kasumia, she looks like she is some sort of priestess on top of being a soldier. Kanata's past is also interesting with that Clarion and bell necklace. Song was also in French, I understood part of it being about water and fragile things. Looks like the town specializes in glass things like dolphins and bottles. Looks like the best to me will be to find more about this tank=> |

Moeblob main character... check Cool masculine character... check Twin tailed tsundere character... check Milf character.... check Silent moe character... check No sign of a plot... check Amazing backdrops... check Above average soundtrack... check Big fat budget... check It sure sounds like an anime for 2010. Unfortunate that it's all about moe. It has such an amazing budget with its amazing backdrop scenery and potential to be a great anime... but it'll always be about the moe. Always. Always. But whatever, I'll bite. I'll keep watching it. Needs more plot though. If it delves into more than just ridiculous moe girls trying to play trumpets, I'll be quite surprised. |

Well all the other girls are pretty much the same age as her, and are apparently part of a tank squadron. You have Kureha who is 13 years old and is the tank's gunner... or at least that's what her character page says here on MAL. |

Wasabi said: In the anime world, 15 year old moeblobs like Kanata are able to enlist in the army. In the American Civil War there were over 200,000 soldiers under the age of 15. More currently in WWII many armies especially the Germans towards the end used soldiers under the age of 16. As a matter of fact the Germans had whole divsions of soldiers under that age (Hitler Jugen SS who the British fought at Normandy). Check out some Japanese films that show their army training young girls with spears to fight off the coming American invasion. Since part of the plot of this anime is that a long, major war has just ground to a halt it makes some sense to have these young girls stuck out at some minor outpost that needs to be manned, but not with frontline quality troops. |

This could actually end up being really, really good, if the plot is developed and as good as the first episode implied. I'm not talking about the girl, just the world it takes place in and everything surrounding the main character. I've got my eye on this show. |

I just finished watching the first ep... It's nearly impossible to watch this and not compare it to K-ON. While I think this series could offer more substance than K-ON, it is very clear that they are trying to capitalize on the rampant moepandemic. I am not familiar at all with the manga, so I have no idea where the story is going, but with the military angle, i see potential for a slighly more serious series. I figured I would read the manga and see if this series will be worth the watch, but it turns out only one chapter is out so far. I guess i will just wait and see what happens. If the story is just going to be K-ON in fatigues then I'm out. First ep was ok; the backdrops, soundtrack and animation in general were all top notch. |

This is nothing like K-ON. The only similarities are character design style and music. On and yes, I suppose they are girls. The two series have completely different feels to them and this should be regarded in it's own right. Exceeded all my expectations. |

This has a potential. The BGM was good. Backdrops were indeed beautiful. Another unique plot. Moe. The episode gave a fun and historic atmosphere. I'm interested to where this is going. Character designs, moeness and the music genre are definitely things they have in common with K-On!. But should not be compared though. Each has its own uniqueness. |

"Lol, K-ON with gunz" is what I'd like to say. But this time I'm not going to say it. Mostly because there isn't any guns in this show. Secondly the character design might be a rip-off of K-ON's but the show seems to have a far slower pace and tries a bit to have some kind of background, I especially like this Spanish setting. Where they speak French. Yeah, anime... Well yeah it's still kind of like K-ON, I mean Rio is just one letter away from Mio, but this might just prove to be a different experience. Lol, yeah right, who am I kidding? Still I don't mind moeblob shows when done right, I did find K-ON really entertaining for its genre (and FU if you just want to sound cool) and that's already something to be acknowledged. I hope this show proves to be entertaining too. Overall I can't decide if this first episode is relaxing or just boring. On a side note, I really like Kitamura Eri's voice in this. v Wow, sig looks awful with So*Ra*No*Wo*To's special characters that can't be shown with the font I'm using. Quick, must watch some other show. :D |

Nothing new. With this same "demand" and the way things are going, we'll be seeing K-ON version 10 in a few years. |

wow.. just wow.. i think i'm a bit moved at the first episode.. it was very scenic.. nothing k-on can ever achieve.. heck, it reminds me more of aria, and aria is the best moe show ever.. the music is also superb, of course, except when sorami plays.. so anyway, this show has a lot of potential.. so long as they continue like this, improve, or perhaps go on with a plot, and not focus on how they can make it more moe, it's gonna be a good series.. There are 2 ways this show can progress based on the first episode. 1. It'll be like K-on, just slower, alternate setting, different instruments. and a lot of moe/slice of life. 2. Slowly progressing into a dramatic and deep plot, probably in some relation with the legend of the demon, 5 maidens and the giant spider that helped them (*cough*tank*cough*) + the war. If it's 1 it'll be good, because i love moeshit:D. If it's 2 it'll be great, 'cause drama is great. Art is superb btw, K-ON character designs + beautiful scenery. Voice acting is great. Sound is GREAT. Story has potential. Characters are likeable (the usual cast of personalities, but they have a potential for deep and dramatic background and development). I cant really see anything that could go wrong here (if you don't hate moe, or shows that take their time), unless they try to force the drama part in the last 3-4 episodes without any build-up. Japanese carneval in Spanish city, with German uniforms (as someone stated before), WWII motorbike and state of the art tank and handwatch was a bit disturbing but all is good in alternate universes:). And teenagers in the army is usual when a war lasts too long (every war is too long even if it lasts only for a minute, but you know what I mean...) 8/10 for now, probably a 9 by the end unless they screw it up... |

I didn't know what to expect with this myself, but I knew that it looked interesting from when I first caught news of it some months back, and again after seeing the trailer. It was pretty good, didn't get enough from episode 1 to get a clear impression as to my thoughts on it, but I'll definitely continue with the next episode. As many have noticed, there is a definite Kyoto/K-ON! style to it so far. IDK, it seems cute. Animation is really rather good. |

P. cool they got Mugi to guest star in this show. It wouldn't be k-on without her. Seriously though... Really beautiful art and nice atmosphere.. If the show actually has a plot, it could be really good. Or, it could just be moeblob shit. Whatever, I got nothing better to do with my time. |

That was quite an impressive first episode. Though I can't help but notice that each of the characters are basically a mix of K-ON! looks and Strike Witches personalities. eg. Kanata= Yui's looks + Miyafuji's personality ; Kureha = Azusa's looks + Lucchini's personality Will be expecting more wonderful music pieces and breathtaking scenaries. Kalafina and Haru-chan doing the OP and ED respectively is certainly an added bonus for me. On the whole, a relaxing show for me to indulge in (at least it seems that way for now). |

Malestel said: hmmm.. would've said something like this in my first post if i didn't have class a few minutes later.. i totally agree..There are 2 ways this show can progress based on the first episode.
