I've NEVER read a manga before. I never read books either, unless it's for college or it's helpful for my job. However, I love anime!

Do you like anime better than manga? Do you think I should get into manga? What's your favorite manga and the most popular one?

Hmm.. Maybe you can try it since there's a lot of manga which are better than their anime adaptation..

As for me myself, i like anime better than manga, however i also read a plenty of manga and i can say that it's also my hobby aside from anime.. All i can say is you can try it since with manga you can go with your own pace and read the whole story without being butchered/rush (which are some cases in anime adaptation)

Yeah as you're missing out on great works such as 20th Century Boys , Oyasumi Punpin just to name a few. Try Kingdom and Liar Game if you want an intelligent story.

I don't really read that much either but I do like reading visual novels at I don't lose focus that much.

I like both, but I'm way more into mangas. I can read anything, but I'm extremely ''picky'' when looking for anime. Also, I own way more mangas than anime, so yeah. MANGAS!

I've found more anime that I loved than manga, but I like reading manga more than watching anime.
I need to read more, don't know why I'm so lazy even with things like this :p
and I haven't read many things either, so it's hard to recommend something to you
but I'd say maybe try Oyasumi Punpun and One Punch Man (very different)

I like both equally but for different reasons.

I've watched more than I've read but still.. I'd say give Manga a try. There are just so many amazing pieces whithout an Anime version. People miss out imo, especially if they like rather unusual or uncommon stories/styles. I love psychological and seinen Manga like Homunculus or Usogui. They don't get an adaption easily.

Anime have the advantage of building up an atmosphere through more than just pictures. The music has a huge impact for me.
And for Manga, I don't know if that's an uncommon reason but.. I appreciate Manga more in the sense that it's a "direct art form" made by "only" the Mangaka, so of course that makes me value it on a different level.

I think most of the time manga are better than anime but there are exceptions where the anime adaptation is better than the manga version. Personally I prefer manga

Yeah, It's pretty close though, some things are better in anime form and others in manga form, but If I had to choose one I'd probably pick manga. :)

To be honest, no. I get bored too easily with manga :/ I can read manga when it comes to yaoi/shounen ai. But about other genres... I just can't. The only story that I managed to finish very quickly because it was DAMN good it was Oyasumi Punpun, otherwise it bores me way too much. That's why I prefer anime.

Yes! Manga >> Anime any day. I don't enjoy watching anime and only do so if that story was an original anime, not adapted.
Yes, well I think you should give it a shot.
Fullmetal Alchemist is my favorite manga, it's also pretty popular.

For me it depends on what the manga gives versus the anime, my current mood, and how long the series is in manga/anime.
It also has to keep my attention going or I'll just end up getting distracted.

i love manga and anime equally even though i follow my princip of watching the anime first before continuing with the manga. beside youll probably find lots of manga with good plots that might never get an anime.

I watch/read both but i only buy manga. Many anime are based on manga and manga are quite often much better in terms of story.....also many anime that are based on manga tend not to follow the original story or having a completely different story (which is a practice i don't favor....especially with great titles). Additionally some manga never get an anime adaptation and i never seem to get tired of manga....i've re-read all of the manga that i own...some even up to (or more) than 10 times.

My favorite manga are:

Emma, Genshiken, Vinland Saga, Planetes, Vagabond, Ichi the killer, Homunculus, Freesia, Octave , Koe no Katachi, Koi Kaze, Sanctuary, Shigurui, Usagi Drop, Strain.

The content can vary GREATLY so i suggest getting a look at the tags before reading.

Yes.

Manga is more efficient and less time consuming. It takes me 1 hour to read 1-3 volumes. That's 5-6+ hours in anime time.

I like anime, but I would still prefer the manga.
There are also a lot of titles out there deserving adaptation, yet no and then I fear that it might turn out as a half-assed work, lol.

When you know the manga's flow, watching the anime after that can bring a small (not always) disappointment.

I never used to read manga and I never thought I'd like it all that much compared to anime, but then I watched a few really good anime that ended abruptly, found out they were adapted from manga, and finished the series that way. After that I was hooked!
So I guess that's why I like it: usually manga series wrap up a story line nice and neat, whereas anime don't always. Also, I can take my volumes with me anywhere to read, like when I'm sitting in a doctor's office. I can't do that with anime, unless I want to watch it on my phone, but the screen's kind of small ;)
Also, I feel like there are more manga available in the genre I like than there are anime. Anyway, for what it's worth I think you should give manga a try!

More like I can't help but like manga more than anime most of the times. I can't enjoy anime when I've seen the manga, but I can enjoy manga after watching the anime.

Don't really recommend manga despite of my fondness. Favorite is One Piece, and I've been enjoying Blue Exorcist lately.

I guess I do like manga a little more, since my...

Anime Mean Score = 6.10
Manga Mean Score= 6.28

But if the anime is well done (nice voices, music, colors, animation and the story is not rushed), it is difficult for a manga to beat it.

or, you know, it can surpass it by adding sound to amplify scenes, animation to liven it up, or just correct issues that were overlooked in the original story.

Most Anime exist to promote the manga, LN, VN or an app game
Manga or the original source material will still have the complete content
watching the anime is like watching the summary
but still both are entertaining though i still prefer the manga

If there's an anime adaptation planned or already out - I'll watch it and probably never read manga. On the other hand, loads of mangas don't have it, so I'll read it. However, I'm reading it very rarely…

Easy, the one that's more popular/higher rated. And if both versions are popular, I go for anime and then read the manga if I really liked the adaptation.

And yes, you really should start reading both manga AND books. Otherwise you're going to miss many great stories, often with better narrative.

And as my avatar is JoJo: tl;dr read the manga.

I like manga better because personally it's faster to read, it has better action scenes, and it is prettier although it is not in color. Reading is good for you. My favorite romance manga is Akagami no Shirayuki-hime, and my favorite action manga is Cage of Eden. It says on here the best manga is Berserk and the most popular one is Naruto.

I prefer watching anime over reading manga. But I like reading manga too. Sometimes after watching the anime, I start reading manga where anime left off. I also have a couple of manga I read when a new chapter comes out. And I have paper volumes on my shelf.
I find watching easier, actually. I can multitask while watching whereas I can't do it when reading.
And I like seeing characters in color and hearing the OST.

So no, I like watching anime more than reading manga but I still enjoy doing the latter.
