| You should probably talk to your councilors about this. Or perhaps ask a college dropout and/or graduate. Most people don't get employed [anecdotal evidence] in their chosen major anyway. If you have no interests, then changing majors won't do anything. Continuing with your degree gets you a bachelor's degree, which is useful even in unrelated fields. Dropping out altogether just nets you an unhealthy pile of debt and the social stigma of "failing". So my useless advice would be to see a councilor and sticking it out till you graduate. |

| MAL probably isn't the best place to get some good advice, most of us are here because we love anime so yeah. But if you ask me, I would say talk to your parents and friends about this, after that decide on whether you have another course that you would rather partake :) The last thing you want is to quit your current degree and went straight for work because there is a chance you might hate that work more than your current degree. |

Then maybe instead of trying to look for other degrees and courses, try looking for some kind of motivation in life. Being unmotivated makes everything seem terrible. |

Perhaps you should head out on an adventure (whether across the world, or locally; it's up to whatever you define one as). It seems this lack of motivation is or will be a major problem you're going to be stuck with until you face it head-on. Good luck. |

I've never been to college, but I probably wouldn't enter a college course for a subject I don't like or have some prior knowledge on. Do you like IT? At least it's not something more serious like CS or CE. I talk to people on the internet who are in college for that and they give off the vibe that if you aren't already able to do fairly advanced programming before you ever walk into the first class then you already failed. They tend to exaggerate and bullshit a lot about stuff though. |

If you really can't get back on the ball, then do another degree, but remember the more time you spend dilly dallying at college the worse it looks to employers, besides nowadays a degree doesn't really mean shit, it's the skills you acquire from it that matter not the degree itself, my advice would be just finish up and then go get a job, that's my outlook at the moment I'm going through a similar crisis and I'm not sure what I want to do with my life but the good news is most graduate programmes don't REQUIRE a certain type of degree so your options are endless provided you have a decent degree under your belt. Just because you graduate with IT skills doesn't mean you have to go into IT. |
| Dude I feel you. I'm in my third semester too. This university thing is way too much to handle. I chose mechanical engineering as a major but I've lost interest in that. And my school is so freaking hard. I can't believe I'm still in it and not kicked out lol. Seriously though, you have to look up majors and see if you can find something you think you would enjoy. I'm thinking of economics. I've taken two classes in this field and I loved them both. College days is one of the best of life. Study and work on school and party hard in the weekend. I'm talking tequila and some mary jane, maaaaan |

| Go to the doctor and perhaps talk to them about your lack of motivation. If it's really severe then it could possibly be a symptom of depression. I don't know because I don't know anything about you other than your opening comment, but it may still be worth the trip. My sister and I both got diagnosed with depression in our first years of uni. |

Really none of us can tell you what to do, and with the state of the global economy praticularly the Western half...frankly what major you have, do, or the score you have won't be a sure sign you will find work. Or that it will even help. But if the Teach is telling you to get out, I would do so, no offense ment, but either you suck at the work or are a body taking up a room, or to the teach his course is turning into a dead end field. |
| Second semester Electrical Engineer here. Feeling kind of the same thing as you. It seems that my classmates are showing interest in the classes but I'm not developing an interest in them at all. But I think I'm just gonna go with the flow and keep my major. Sure the coursework seems hard but I discovered that as the semester progresses, I've never really hit the point in which I find it impossible getting through the work. Also remind yourself, any degree in technology will be very likely to help you land a job. Don't drop out. It will severely limit your opportunities in the future in ways that you cannot see now. |

If so I'd suggest you get a job first to have a taste of what that life is like, if it's your first year just go around other classes to see if something catches your eye. Think about what your job will be like, college is not your goal it's just a path. And my other advice is to work-out, it clears your head. |

| Quitting school altogether with that mindset and then attempting to find a job afterwards, you will more than likely end up quitting the job as well. It has been proven that people who go into intrinsic education end up changing their major(s) several times before actually settling down on one. That being said, if you pose that much disdain for your current curriculum, I would advise to change it before you dig yourself too deep a hole. Or who knows, you could quit school and then stumble upon a job you might actually like. |

OP, you say you are in your 3rd year, so if you have nothing right now you really want to do, you might as well finish it. Just by completing school, you put a good foundation for yourself. After you finish then you can do some self searching to see what it is you truly want to do with your life, it is never too late to do what you enjoy. The way i see with life, if you aren't burdening anyone, then you are free to do what you want. |

| Typically the first 2 years are mostly general education stuff (english, biology, etc.) which are required by just about all degree programs. If you are just now starting *most* of the IT classes and you hate it, there is still plenty of time to switch majors. All those gen-ed classes you already took won't go to waste. You might even have enough IT stuff finished to use that as a minor. Look at the classes you have taken and see if there was anything you did like, or were good at. If so, go that route. If there is nothing, see if there is an associates degree that you are close too. It would be a shame to let all that investment go to waste if you can just tough it out a little longer. Perhaps look into trade school as well. |
