Do you prefer natural talent protagonists or hard working protagonists?

Examples
Natural Talent: Kuroko (KnB), most of Naruto's cast, Yasuri (Katanagatari),
Hard Work: Edward Elrice (FMA), Rock Lee (Naruto), Kenichi

As the thread question says, do you prefer protagonists who have a natural talent or protagonists who worked hard to be as talented as they are?

I like hard work shirou and ed. Natural can be cool like in knk (the nasu one). It's good as long as character goes through some form of struggle/hardship. It's good when their power cruses them.

Anime is good, fucking deal with it.

rock lee would have been by far the better protagonist for the naruto series , having said that, i prefer hard work.
why:
no one wants to see an antagonist that has already maxed out his potential from episode 1, all though it is acceptable in certain cases, but in anime that has a dominant battle shounen genre it should be hard work.

Depends if they're good characters.

KnK? Don't you mean Kuroko no Basuke?

i just like their winning of battles not to be a dumb reason, im tired of people beating veterans who have more years of experience than the MC has been alive (twice over), because they have heart or something

Depends on the show I'm watching. If it's something like Kuroko where everything breaks reality, natural talent characters are fine because they are so much fun to watch. In most cases though, it depends on how well written the character is.

I prefer talented protagonists who dont take themselves seriously and hold back most of the time unless forced to show their true power :|
There’s no hope on the battlefield.
It has nothing but unspeakable despair.
Just a crime we call victory, paid for by the pain of the defeated.
Yet humanity has never recognized this truth.
And the reason for that is, in every era,
a dazzling hero has blinded people with their legends and prevented them from seeing the evil of bloodshed.
The true nature of humanity has not advanced a step beyond the Stone Age!

Hard work a characters story is defined by the trials they face on their journey. The harder you work for something the sweeter the victory for the characters and the viewers.

Hard working because i'm a socialist. But in all seriousness hard working protagonists because they start as a underdog and work their way up to the top.

Are you referring to Kuroko from Kuroko no Basket?

If so, then he is hard working. Aomine and Kagami are the natural talent, although Kagami does his fair share of hard work.

"Most of Naruto's cast" is naturally talented, but Edward Elric is not? Wow, did you actually watch the anime or just skim through it?

That being said, I like a well written, enjoyable protagonist and he doesn't have to be one of naturally talented or hard-working. Hell, he could a lazy-ass faggot for all I care, all that matters to me is that he is a good protagonist.

Can be Natural or hard-working but the character must know the taste of defeat and come back after.

Debateable. He never knew the feeling of loss or some shit, the whole "I have no presence" gimmick, and all that.

Ehh. Losing/feeling of lose =/= Hard working.

It's a relevant theme to hard work, not necessary part of it. And he did anyway. He felt that his basektball was inferior to generation of miracles, Aomine in particular. and was mentally defeated against him twice, but Kagami saved him in the last one.

His lack of presence isn't a talent, and he doesn't have any basketball talents. His passing is all from his hard work. He actually sucks hard in normal basketball and doesn't have the talent or body for it, watch the first episode.

Neither.

Both are predictable as fuck. Got a problem? Don't worry, you're destined to beat it.
Got a problem? Don't worry, just do pull-ups, get a giant headstart to catch up, and have the villain conveniently stay the same level throughout this whole time, and beat him.

Solution? SMART protagnists. Ones that use an original, outside the box, or a tactical method to bring the enemy down.

That's why Gon Freecs and Joseph are the best.

I prefer talent but not in a way that automatically makes them the best around. Something like the protagonists in HxH and Prince of Tennis stands out to me, a ton of potential in the characters but they still have a long way to go.

Edit: I guess sports anime really comes to mind with this one because I just thought of Ippo and Sakuragi from Slam Dunk (although Sakuragi wasn't my favorite character)

Natural talented protagonists give them the sorta cool vibe to them whereas hard working protagonists give the exact opposite vibe. You know like clumsy and goofy i guess? It would definitely remind you of Sasuke and Naruto. Either one is fine with me though.
