THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
The hero Eiji Arashiba has fallen, and what remains is Yamato Kai, all injured and battered up, and taking Eiji's place seems more than a deconstruction of events to take in literally.

As if that's not enough, Yamato inherited Eiji's SCARD tattoo Cerberus, and is placed under the police's protection of the Anti-Scard Special Service. Man, talk about an exposition dump all at once, and mind you, it's only Episode 2.

Fighting between different thug groups? OK, OK, easy to iunderstand. Problem is, asking a rookie to do the job in place for a well-known "Hero"? That's just asking a bit too much on Yamato's part, but he has to continue the legacy of the Hero of Akatsuki, by hook or by crook. Even almost getting roasted by younger brother Kazuma and fellow SCARD Kagami, everyone has eyes on Yamato now.

So if I get my speculations right, this is last season's Akudama Drive (the continuation), only worse in every way. And GoHands's rotoscoping is still as bad as I remember.

Honestly I don't think this is too bad. The plot is starting to make more sense and while I personally don't like the character designs too much the animation during the action scenes are really nice. I wish there were more of them but there'll probably be more later on. I was prepared to drop it after I watched the first episode but it seems like it'll get better over time.

Also random reference to Raccoon Rascal, the anime that guy was watching in the elevator at the end.

Not sure about this series. Got used to the horrible CGI but it's just so boring.

That’s a whole lot of exposition dump. Pity, it could have given the characters more depth if it weren’t exactly fully narrated by the MC lol

OST also sounded all over the place this episode. That score is really low tho, it isn’t that bad!!!!!

but i’ll probably remember over and over again

I just dont know what to make of this. To be honest I started watching the first episode, and stopped it halfway through. Then I got bored the next day and went back to it. Its not that bad. This episode felt like it went a lot slower though. Hopefully next one will be a bit more exciting...

I can't believe this. This actually got worse than the previous episode.

They gave an extremely long exposition, where the protagonist kept repeating the same thing multiple times. Despite that, I could feel no emotional weight in his words.

The art was awful! The silhouettes of the characters don't really standout from the backgrounds. The perspective was inconsistent. The DOF was . . . was it even there? The colours are very disturbing. The backgrounds look like they were made by a beginner in 3d modelling and texturing.

Why are people shooting someone when they know that that person is bulletproof? I know nothing about guns, but bullets can't be so cheap that you just waste them like that!

The Scards are supposed to be rare and strange, yet everyone seems to be one. Even if most of the main characters were Scards, I think their entrance is very important in order to make the audience believe they're indeed rare.

For an anime to run for 13 ep, it was basically tad slow.

Story-wise I liked this more than episode 1. It has an even bigger K-feel to it now.

But what I liked in K were the bright colours and the distinct designs, you could at least tell who was who.
Even Hand Shakers had those really pretty weird colourful backgrounds, even though I dropped that one because I couldn't stand the story.

It's not the worst, I think it deserves at least a 6,5/10 score so far, but there's a lot that could be better too... In any case, I don't feel so annoyed yet that I want to drop, so that's good I guess.

Loved the scene where Yamato is blocking the bullets. Really shows that Eiji picked the right guy to trust his powers with.

IMO, as for now it's an ok anime. It's watchable. I think the score is a bit too harsh considering that there are only two episodes which came out. I didin't have any expectations and I still don't so I can't complain. I like characters designs, so I think I could even watch it for bishounens at this moment. As for the backgrounds they look fine to me. And actions scenes look good even though the plot might be a bit lame.

Akatsuki conflict, which started from an ambitious dream called the birth of a corporate town. The special ward zone to encourage the growth rate. However, its backfired them. The place became a lawless district that made peoples crazy to controlled it by themself, triggered a several armed conflicts. At that fateful day, Yamato and Eiji met with each others, into a several circumstances that started out this messed up story. However, with Eiji's death, everything might turned out not so well. Cool but arrogant anti-tattoe owner agents forced him to be on his side. But ofc he rejected it, and decided to be free at his own will. In the end, its just a mere setting to tell the history, and made Yamato met up with the other Helios members.

I dislike that agents behaviour. But so far, the real enemies were not them. So, yeah, keep it low profile and continued the introduction part to the next group of the tattoe owners.

The bad guys are literally Dusk, while the good guys are Dawn... ha....

Kazuma looks like Lelouch's head mounted on Kirito's torso.

The camerawork, basically: "We have all these 3D backgrounds and assets! We need to keep panning! Pan some more! Zoom some more! Never stay still, we rendered all these models god dammit."

The ending song is ALL BACKGROUNDS. The random scenes, the random jazz, literally feels like a practice project someone would make for their architecture rendering class.
