Agreed. 38 is young in this day and age. Most industrialized modern countries have a life expectancy of more than 70 years. So basically she still had have half her life to live.

That's really sad, what a time for something like this to happen. Right around the time one of her songs is highlighted in a big episode.

Seeing this makes me see again that we're nothing.
Most people are so self-centered and but even if you have money & power, you're not immune to this kind of stuff.
Oh man, I just have to live at the fullest since this may be the last day.

Thanks for your hard work, may you rest in peace Kijima-san.
My condolences to her family.

Heart attacks really happen too darn often these days. Just a week back a wrestler at the age of 29 died from heart attack too. Must be the level of stress in the world today.

What's up with people dying after a recent finish of works?
Like Heath Ledger dying after the Dark Knight. I forgot his name, but he worked on the cutscenes of Metroid Prime 3. He died after the project too. And now this?

Is it because they overworked of the recent projects, or is it that they were sick before, but felt like finishing this last work, and be content when it's done?

It's sad that she died but to be optimistic I'll say that she died for the sake of many people's ear.

Ledger died as a consequence of his depression (and in the middle of another movie) but I see your point. It may have a bit of truth considering how overworked society currently is.

I know the crying is supposed to be about the "end of the club", but don't you guys think it was also a subliminal homage to Kijima Yuko?

I like to think of it this way, she died, and they chose to pay homage to her by making an episode dedicated to her song and the girls crying while being optimistic.

If this is true, it's beautiful.

People are NOT supposed to die that young. I think that stress and fatigue due to overworking took their toll on her.

At least she left quite a legacy.

Well I was just wondering if this was worth reporting.

I mean I don't want to belittle her death or anything, but yeah people die, so that's nothing new. Furthermore, seems to me nobody even heard of her before this, she has no MAL entry and only 2-3 people here commented on her work besides "Gohan wa Okazu". And my bet is that if she was alive she'd have remained a nobody and the song would have been credited to Yui.

It's one thing when an author/director of some series passes away but I'm just saying that it shouldn't be news JUST because of K-ON (which is how this looks like to me). Before you know it we'll be reading about a friend of a friend that may or may not have watched K-ON who sprained his ankle.

She still worked in the industry, limited publicity notwithstanding. It's not like we are reading about the death of some random otaku.

there've been less worthy news stories.

annnd since my last comment on this I have seen the episode. Cried all the way through it, and not just because of this ;_;
It is a great, fun song and it's true that it does personify what K-ON is about. Ichi, ni, san, shi, gohan! ;w;
