| My parents don't like anime. They don't hate it or hate that I watch it, but it doesn't really appeal to them. Mum watched Spirited Away and thought it was weird, she just didn't appreciate the beauty of that movie. I suppose she would most likely enjoy mystery/supernatural anime, or maybe even NANA. |

| My parents don't watch anime. They were surprised to learn about Otakon after watching the news one day and seeing just how massively popular anime is as a whole and that there are people of all ages attending that enjoy it. So they're well aware that anime - and some cartoons in general! - aren't to be grouped in the animation age ghetto. My Mom just says she doesn't understand it. I don't think she really wants to. I think if she ever asked about trying it, one of the first things I might show her would be something like xxxHolic. She's big on karma and stuff like that, and I can't help but think this show would totally intrigue her. I couldn't really show her anything shoujo, though, as I'm big on shoujo and she'd probably be more of a josei chick, since I doubt high schoolers and their daily lives would keep her interested. But *maybe* Paradise Kiss. She likes chick flicks and comedies, and isn't really willing to step outside of that. She's kind of stubborn that way - she flat out denies any animated movie I'd like to go see, since it's her way or the highway. I know I couldn't show her anything with horror or gore, since she really hates that stuff and I love it. My mom and I are kind of total opposites that way. And I know Ghibli movies would make her fall asleep, sadly. My Dad would probably like something like Baccano!, just something action packed and keep him interested in watching, on the edge of his seat. I know he and I really love 24, but it's really the only show we shared besides Speed Racer when I was much younger. It was a big tradition in our household to watch that all together for a while. We also both like South Park, but he's more of a fan of the earlier episodes because he hasn't seen any of the more recent ones... whereas I've pretty much seen them all. But I can't really think of any anime that could be kind of like that, I guess. Overall, I guess my folks just aren't anime people. They're not really that interested and they're rather picky. Whereas I'm more open-minded and will pretty much try anything. It really kind of makes me the oddball in my family, eheh. I'd honestly be shocked if they ever asked me for a recommendation or sat down to watch it with me. I might think something's wrong, or they were trying to use it as a gateway to talk about something completely different... maybe both. |

| Actually.. my mom uses the song used the Mikuru's song (from The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi) You know, the "Mimimirakuru, Mikurunrun~ tantantantantantantantanananan!" yeah. She used that as her ringing tone so, it rings everytime someone calls her. She was also interested in our School Rumble manga. Probably fascinated about being read back-to-front and left-to-right and started to read till the 3rd Volume. I don't know about dad though. He kinda saw my brother and I watch anime and kinda peeked into it and saw a panty shot. (I think we were watching Amagami SS) He told me what he saw and laughed at me and said it's alright since he also did it when he was young. I think my dad just got the wrong opinion. XD |

| I used to watch Hellsing with my dad. (that couldn't be helped because my dad likes Batman and Spawn as well.) As for my mom (rip), when I was little she's particularly fond of World Masterpiece Theater, Lady Lynn and other 70-80's shoujo anime since they also air it locally in the morning with a couple of re-runs. I was planning to show her Rose of Versailles but that was cut short. |

| I have never told her to watch anime as I understand it's not one thing she's grown with, and it's a bit late to start discovering something that at first glance may seem childish just because it's animated. However, there are some animes I'd like to show her at a time. Specially, I think she would enjoy Only Yesterday a lot. She likes simple, nice and naturalistic stories, and the movie itself is a strong eye-opener as it deals with some unexpected issues for the medium; has made me watch some sappy romances lately so I'm ready for a counterattack lol. |

| I gave my mum season 1 of little busters and shes really emjoying the comedy, she also liked adventure time thats why i suggested it, my dad watched an episode of attack of titan and said it was good, and i also watched ponyo with him, but in all honesty ponyo isnt top quality anime. and my close minded grandma says every anime i watch is "the pokemons" that generation doesnt have a clue about anything i swear. |
