| Ahhaha I love this topic. I haven't really been exposed to too many rabid fans that would annoy me, so I don't have many pet peeves..but I really don't like when people use "kawaii" and "desu" and such. It's a little hypocritical of me because I often insert common words of different languages into my sentences (like french or spanish: "oui," "gracias," etc), but for some reason it just annoys me because it's so "annoying anime fangirl" cliché XD It may not be "stupid," but it really irks me when people turn up their noses when I say I prefer watching dubbed anime over subbed. I've never seen a really horrible dubbed anime, and the lack of subs allows me to focus on the art, action, expressions, etc, instead of the words. I've missed and had to re-watch so many scenes because I got caught up in watching some amazing scene instead of paying attention to the words. I'm also an offender of calling everything BL "yaoi." I just got into the habit of it somehow, though seeing as it bothers so many people I'll try and change that >__> (Also yaoi is so much more fun to say than boys' love :D) But on the topic of girls talking about BL/yaoi...I think it really depends on how comfortable you are with the people you're discussing it with. Obviously it would be pretty disturbing to hear a group of people blabbing about the latest yaoi hentai they've watched out in public, but my friends and I talk about the BL we read/watch (to a certain extent). As some have mentioned, guys may not get into the nasty details of the porn they watch, but if it comes up in general conversation, it might be normal for some? I don't know. Just ignore me XD And just a quick question...what's a moe? (/ignorant) |

I remember when I was looking at the figures and pins at a booth two girls stood next to me staring at the merchandise: Girl 1: OH MY GOD! THAT REBORN PIN IS SO KAWAII! Girl 2: OMFG! HE IS SO KAWAII. I LOVE HIM. Then another time in that same day, I was walking down the hall with a friend going to the vendors room: Girl 1: OH MY GOD! YOU HAVE A LELOUCH POSTER! Girl 2: Yeah! I just bought it! Isn't he so sexy! He is officially my husband now! Girl 1: You're SO LUCKY! I wish I could find a husband like him! Then on the same day, we were standing around my sister's art booth and heard a group of people pass by saying that Naruto is better than all the other anime because it's about Ninjas and because some of the characters are amazing. Just the few that I clearly remember. I know there has been a lot more times where I heard fans say stupid stuff like that. This is the biggest misconception ever,anime has nothing to do with style it is merely a regional designation to indicate that a particular cartoon is made in Japan mostly for a Japanese audience. 2.Anime fans who say anime is not cartoons.Last I checked a anime is made the same way as any other cartoon,so yet it is a cartoon. 3.Anime fans who are not fluent in Japanese saying that the Japanese language version is better than the dubbed language or that the Japanese version has more emotion in it.This has to be the stupidest thing I have ever heard someone say.Its the equivalent of saying Oranges taste awful if you never tasted oranges before.How the hell is anyone going to say that one is better when they have no possible way of making such a comparison between the two. No. Personally it's because since I'm not fluent, I can't tell when the Japanese actors are bad! It's pretty obvious when the voice actors are bad when they're speaking my native language. That being said, there are some Japanese movies/shows I've seen where I did prefer the English-speaking voice actors over their Japanese counterparts. One of my personal fave dubs is Kiki's Delivery Service. Why? Something about the original voices just seem off to me. Personal preferance, though. |
