| Am I the only one who thought the humor is a lot more basic and not nearly as clever or sharp as Gintama? You can even feel the big difference between the opening scene (which was written by the anime staff who've proven themselves to be really funny in the main series) and the rest of the episode, which feels like someone desperately trying to imitate Sorachi's humor (which is what the LN it's based on seems to be). I'm open to it getting better, but aside from the opening scene, I wasn't impressed with the actual episode. Timing felt slightly off, and the punchlines often weren't worthy of the build up they were given. |

| I'm not sure what I was expecting but the first ep felt kinda weak. Hope the next episodes will be better. Still loved seeing all the gang, so in the end I guess even a weak episode is a good episode. |

| The greatest manga/anime of all time is back and it's in peak form. Seeing everyone pick on shinpachi was great, the cigar gag, let's be honest it's really just nostalgia for those of us with exquisite taste but i was also happy to see baba-san at the end. Old lady was an elite character. Truly some of the best writing and best comedy of all time and I think they did it justice here. Is there a plot? Not from the looks of it, but I'm going to watch it anyways. If you haven't watched the greatest anime of all time you'd better start, otherwise people are not going to understand. |
