| @Spast1c No, I mean your assumption that MAL with less moderation is basically 4chan is right. Was here ten years ago, we had daily hate threads onwomen, gays, trans... I love you don't worry -3- |

| I like the moderation, especially rule 7, since it limits politics. This is good, means I don't have to argue anymore. Preventing toxicity from entering the anime community is good, this should be a comfy space. |

To be fair though, your account being so new means you never experienced the internet over a decade ago. Some people will never realize what they never had.

| @fleurbleue I don't know, it was kinda surprising to me to see a bunch of people accusing the mods that they were responsible for the place getting a little less active. It wasn't even among the explanations that came to my mind when I made that thread. And from most of the regulars' answers, it was pretty obvious they were less active because of things going on in their lives, not because of the site moderation. But let's suppose the mods removed most of the rules. If anyone remembers what the forums looked like a decade ago, then you have a good idea of what it would look like. It would be endless political/culture war stuff all day long. Is that what you would honestly want CD to be? Don't you already have some sketchy no-moderation imageboard for that kind of stuff if you want? So, what do you think? And please, no need to be meanies with the mods. Honestly, they have always been pretty nice with me even though I've probably given them more job than most of the regulars. "And please, no need to be meanies with the mods." LMAO Defending (or more like championing in this case) the mods (& the rules they enforce) is hilarious work, is this MAL's version of a pick-me? The majority of people here would disagree with you. What's the point of online anonymous forums if you cant have fun with heated debates? I'm obviously not advocating for no mods at all (pretty sure nobody else is), but the current system they have isn't great. We already have to walk on eggshells and be pushovers, be afraid of being cancelled/fired/hated ect. irl. People's livelihood irl depends on these things. If you cant go online and let lose to some degree what the hell is the point? aren't you tired of already controlling yourself in person all the time? Mods on here lock threads for the dumbest reasons, and dont even get me started on the "thread cleaning" shit, this wasnt a thing a couple of months ago, I find it hilarious whenever I see that message inserted in the middle of a random thread. They already permanently locked the current events forum, I dont understand why they couldn't be content with that. CD is now just full of topics that a family of right-wingers and left-wingers would stick to at their Christmas dinner party out of the irrational fear of even remembering that the other person has different views. @deg also lower the minimum character limit to 10-15 characters please stop, why do you even want to comment on a thread if you're not going to say more than two words, you mention meaningful discussion but you dont even want to participate in it yourself @Daemon Yes, because the only two options are no moderation and complete lawlessness or severe over-moderation. Certainly there's no in-between ground, right? I'm not sure what the point of this thread is other than your desire to suck up to the mods and show how much of a goody-two-shoes you are. This lol @Sweetsheen In general, any reduction in freedom of speech is bad. That being said, to keep things actually functioning, the mods on any forum should have very few responsibilities IMO. Removing spam, keeping things somewhat organized, stopping illegal content, adds, and paid shills/bots. Nothing else should be touched. That’s basically it. Just have a sub forum where ppl can say and do what ever they want. What do you care if there is a bunch of lunatic anime freaks in there talking about lord only knows? Don’t go in, it’s that simple. Is it right for CD to be flooded with random hate or super pervy crap? No I don’t think so, hence why there should be a dedicated area for more “fringe” topics. But it fosters hate! Do you really think hate is that easy to stop? I just don’t get the logic. Because you don’t want to be exposed to it? You are that weak? Why do you care what some total cum sock says or thinks? Because you think that venomous people will corrupt the youth? Lul. All of this shit just seems so shallow and short sighted. Someone just tell me the actual reason why you care if morons are arguing with each other. Is it because you think that trolls will ruin legit conversations? But you aren’t allowed to have legit conversations. You preemptively struck yourself down by removing all topics that could wind up being “of concern”. Can’t you see that? At what point, does someone telling you what you can or cannot say become a problem for you? Because it should be the very first sign of censorship that raises your hackles. You best hope that it never ends up being someone you disagree with that tells you what you cannot say, think or do. But hey, what are the chances that’s gonna happen…….. Even if you do not go the route of almost no moderation, the restriction on almost all controversial topics removes so much meat from the bone, that you are left with what MAL clearly has been reduced to. But then again, what right do I have to say anything about it. My response will be removed from the sounds of things. Pretty much agree with this |

| Volunteering to become an unpaid mod is so utterly sad that I can't help but agree that people shouldn't be overtly mean to them. I think it makes more sense to treat them as you would a patient from a mental institution. I can't imagine these forums being "toxic and hate-filled" would be worse than what they currently are, i.e. the same several dozen people spamming the same dull, mind-numbingly safe slop every day, while anyone interesting, funny or even mildly controversial gets immediately permabanned. But I am basically a lurker, so what do I know. |

I literally thought mods check the forums regularly because of the frequency of threads getting locked. XD |

| Ehh I feel like the sites a tad bit over moderated as of now, but do I want it to reach 8chan or kiwifarms level? Hell no!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like my personal thing with the moderation system is all the dumb rules... Like I know a bunch of that "don't encourage discussion" may be a bit annoying getting posted a lot, but are they REALLY bad enough to get the same treatment as racist, sexist, nazi, white supremacist threads???? Tf's wrong with them and why are they against the rules? If you're annoyed with there being too much of those threads just scroll past them!!!! And what even constitutes as something that doesn't encourage discussion...? Stuff that mods don't like? Literally anything can spark discussion!!!! I honestly get the civil discussion rule though, bc I mean, that stuff can get out of hand pretty quickly... But I also feel like (CERTAIN) mods tend to just lock threads they don't like, and also leave multiple obvious rule-breaking threads up... Also do they not do backgrounds checks AT ALL for mods? bc I was just looking through some random 2009 thread and saw some former mod saying the n-word like 1000 times.... -_- |

| @Hydre_Ito Yes, I am of course a pick-me for the mods if I say they literally don't do their job properly... (not that you could expect a mod to say that either).
