Towa no Yuugure has crossed the seas and landed a hi-dive. A promising beginning. Lots of world building competently delivered. Someone making world changing technology will find the old world pushing back. Too bad our MC took three bullets because of it and even after awakening he's got the scars to prove it. Now all he needs are water, food, clothing, shelter and knowledge of the new world. Hopefully some sweet local girl will take a liking to him and help out.

OFFICIAL Episode 1 thoughts

With Akira awakening in what seems to be a fantasy world ruled by the OWEL organization, greeted by village chief Wia and his daughter Idhi, seeing a different future as opposed to one with Towasa and bringing the naked man to Hakodate, muh of the fantasy world's "Japan" pretty much exists in his mind, though the village people rever him as the Wise One for some reason as a relic, who long to see his girlfriend-turned-fiancée once again.

Assessing things at Hakodate, Akira wants to know what OWEL is up to, and one of the first things he learnt is the idea of "marriage" or ehlsea, groups of people who live together for a common cause. Of course, it's a reference to the LC project that Towasa has been prepping for her big AI project, though Akira has to deal with 18th century know-how to survive against the likes of the "detestable" people of OWEL, as is with Commander Percussus Caniss and his men finding their way through the family whistleblower to Hakodate to arrest Akira, along with Wia and Idhi for defiance. The one sole salvation lies with the unknown girl of Yugure, in the hood watching Akira from the sidelines, then saving him and the father-daughter duo from OWEL with her insane android firepower, though her being of semblance with Towasa, it's an android girlfriend this time?

NGL, this reeks of P.A. Works's last half-decade anniversary show of 2018-2019's Fairy Gone with a similar style...keeping expectations decent for now.

A very nice first episode, the pacing is fast but it covers the lore, the characters, the worldbuilding, and the action well.

God damn what an insane firepower for just one android, two of these in a duel will be devastating I would imagine.

I am guessing the android "Towasa" was made by Towasa or is part of her mind?

Also really the government that is around is called OWEL, but sounds like Orwell -.-. I don't think any group would intentional call themselves that. Although from the brief bit we saw of them they seem quite corrupt.

The marriage in the new era is much more advance than current era. If not because of OWEL (which is obviously a homage to George Orwell like mentioned above), I believe there'll be a group of 100 people trying to married each other for real.

The first episode give a different impression than the zeroth episode, I'm not sure what's gonna be the result but it's already too bloody for my taste.

Seems pretty interesting so far and those last few minutes when Yugure showed up to kick some ass was fire af. Learning more about this world and how things got this way will be interesting.

The caricature villain meatsack was off-putting, but otherwise a solid episode. Still many questions to be answered but I suppose that and worldbuilding questions will be addressed as we go along.

One thing that bugs me that will probably be written off was the state of his 'cryo' pod; that thing was shattered and looked like it'd been that way for a while, was he just hanging around for who knows how long until waking? I wonder if he's human at all.

And the villagers apparently held rites to gain wisdom from him somehow while guards watched over them... but information is strictly contained by OWEL. Eh, probably a throwaway bit of setting.

So the whole premise of this anime interest me alot since it looks like its gonna be a civilization building anime.
which is one of my favorite anime tropes.

And the scenes are super weird too and kinda unnatural for me, and they didnt hold back at the blood scenes because the blood are just spewing everywhere hahahaha.

but all in all i have a lot of high hopes in this anime and thats all bye.

Great first episode, or rather the second. It's funny how when Akira woke up, he didn't recognize the speech at first, and only did so after a couple of seconds, maybe he's also an android. Yugure was a cutie, the way she cut down the enemies so beautifully, although the last shot was too powerful. I wonder if Towasa somehow influenced this future, or if it's all because of the corporations and, yes, the new kind of marriage, I liked it.

I loved episode 0 and now this official first episode just carried the fire. What a bang to start with. The worldbuilding is very interesting and leaves clues all around for us to catch up and make sense of it maybe later, i can tell. Yuugure introduction was predictable but still leave me in awe. That level of power its more scary than reassuring to be honest. As someone already pointed out a clash between two of this androids could have serious consecuences for those around. I hope the series explores that in more depth.
I do think Akira is an android himself, there were hints of that already.

So far so good, lets go!

Akira's body does have the bullet scars, so possibly still mostly him. Doesn't rule out he's one of the first recipients of the tech for Towasa's LC project though.

What a fucking, episode.

Yuugure is fucking AWESOME, she is amazing, reminds me of Mythra from Xenoblade 2.

I genuinely cannot wait for the rest of this anime; I give this episode a 10/10.

@nautilocatalejo I would HOPE he isn't an android, I think personally Akira is a threat to OWEL with his information on the past before OWEL existed.

10/10 episode tho.

PA works potentially dropping an all time great here for their anniversary project? First episode(0) piqued my interest, but now I’m really engaged in this story. It’s shown the perfect balance of worldbuilding, action and good character interactions so far and oh my god, blonde Towa or whatever her name will end up being’s introduction was one of the best scenes, if not THE best scene I’ve seen from PA works. I didn’t know they had this in their bag?

Only concern right now is whether or not 12 episodes will be enough. I feel like this could easily be more. With the way it’s set up now, seems like Owel is probably Towa’s AI companion gone horribly wrong and that’s why society has changed marriages to “Ehlseas” and all this other draconian information censoring shit. Totally a brilliant idea to implant AI into everyone, what could possibly go wrong? I’m also thinking Towa uploaded her memories/personality into a cloud and this blonde hair version is an android with all her data so that she could protect Akira.

The OP from Uru is so nostalgic omg and it looks like we’re gonna have other androids and a lot of action going forward. I’m hype. I hope they’re not shooting themselves in the foot with 12 episodes though. There’s a lot you could do with such an interesting world as this.

I actually really loved the convo Akira and idhi had about marriage as well. It’s pretty funny to think about how the concept and institution of marriage could change so much in the future. Our version seems so normal to us now and in the future it could be something totally different all depending on what fits the needs of human society at that point in time. Would be cool if they explored more stuff like that.

The premise that this series has showcased during this episode is very intriguing and captivating. I also like how it got to explaining how things work in this era many hundreds of years ahead from our current time. With that being said, it's not necessarily for the better going by how the villagers dislike the OWEL organisation.

Not only does it remind me of George Orwell, but the way that they operated here in this episode would be straight out of his 1984 novel in a heartbeat. The commander is a classic case of a nutjob that gets his hands dirty all of the sake of climbing up the ranks, so I'm glad that Yuugare made her introduction in such an epic and brutal style.

It's been a while since I've watched a P.A. Works anime that is action packed and seeing how Yuugare destroyed the OWEL soldiers one by one was a showcase of awesome and satisfying animation that I hope we get more and more of as the series goes on for this season. Even the OP sequence has plenty of engaging action while backed by a really nice sounding OP song. =)

This original anime is off to a pretty good start if you ask me. I do look forward to knowing more of what the state of the world is in and hopefully we'll know more about Yuugare herself and how Akira ended up in the capsule in the first place (Which might be easy to answer after seeing episode 0, but I still want overall confirmation on that one).

Pretty typical post apocalyptic setting, civilisation restoring, certain group of people controllong info and the world, androids, all typical tropes for this kind of story. But I liked the presentation and this was also surprisingly brutal. Towa turned into an android? Built from her conscious ig.

@Tarrian They mentioned something about an earth quake breaking his pod. So it seems like the people who found him initially saw his pod break.

Don't mess with OWEL, er, Yugure.

That was a bit of an overkill with that energy gun, serious unnecessary collateral damage to the environment. But, it was well animated.

Literal subhuman and animalistic behavior is “much more advanced” huh? I think you missed the point of what was being shown. Everything about their lives is unnatural and disordered with an authoritarian regime keeping them weak and ignorant.

at first it felt like an average '90s/2000s fantasy where the MC froze in time and wake up in a distant future' kind of show that was left in the fault for too long (which was kind of on theme), but then the violence kicked in, now i'm convinced that it actually is one

damn before I say anything isn't that reincarnation? cuz he should be dead but came back to life with a away we don't know looks like icing ppl to live longer?

in the 1st looks like he didn't get back in time he was going forward more like from 150 yrs to 200 ? idk that's what I am thinking, he then meets the ppl and starts learning abt their culture, when he got caught by a company i forgot what their name was but i think their goal is to have all the technology exclusive to them and anything that threatens that ( cuz ppl don't know abt technology anything ) like someone who got reincarnated who can talk and brings problems with him to the company are always arrested and the ppl gets killed cuz they might heard something from him, and damn yuugure really is a copy from towasa but with a yellow hair she even requests him to marry her so maybe she putted her mind in this robot

4 / 5 that was so interesting and has sm potential to get an 8 or even a 9
