What an episode this was aye?

Its gotten my heart beating so fast I think I might start running a marathon with the biggest GUSTO anyone has ever seen. Honestly tho the first half of this episode pacing and handling the complexity of the fight scene with just a quick exchange of dialog makes me think there is a bit more than meets the eye with the power system in this world. But its no nin or nen(HxH), so there was no credit accruding through time while your not able to use your ability type of complexity. But the fact that Zanka found a way to handle the dude with dreads using Rudo's ability a quick as he did, show cases his battle IQ, or it shows his experience on the battle field. That being said tho, as smart and quick witted as Zanka was, Dreads was stronger and more deadly than he was leading on. The fact that dreads was willing to fight the other 4 cleaner made me think "woah, dreads is way to calm about fighting all four of them... WAIT HE'S GONNA FIGHT EM'?" completely forgetting that this is a shounen show and when the big bad is about to be showed up or the strongest person we know is about to fight someone the MC had a rough time with are about to fight shounen shows tend to build suspense by delaying the fight. Which this show did pretty well I might add. MAN I MISSED THIS TYPE OF SHIT IN THIS DAY AND AGAIN. no gaps between fights, high stakes, high reward, funny gag that dont envolve tits or ass. MAN great show so far.

Anywho, Rudo had one of those... unique weapons equipped. Which I suspect a lot of people are going to assume is going to be Rudo's instrument.. BUT ACUTALLY its going to be his enhancement tool, which lets him pick ANY TOOL to be his instrument. Sort of like how Thor has his hammer to enhance his thunder abilities, when in reality he can control thunder without the hammer. Same I believe with Rudo's gloves, which I think the dreads boss through dreads we find out that he (dread's boss) has a type of 'equipment' like Rudo's gloves. Leading to an oltercation in the future where Rudo has to learn to fight without his gloves. THESE ARE PURE GUESSES. I have no idea where the story is going and guessing is half the fun. And if i get it right, well the show would be boring by now, considering I keep saying "CLASSIC SHOUNEN STYLE ANIME, GREAT" the shounen~ie thing about this show is that it handles it flow like shounen well... as well as it cliches BUT this shows plots and other aspects hands like an ACUTAL puzzle piece, and its fun to figure out. Because it rewards you with MORE things to figure out. I dont know I am talking (writing) to much anyway.

It really infuriates me that at the end of the episode the Cleaners wanna capture Jabber put just let him go free like nothing happened. Is there some deep lore behind this sht I don't understand??

It reminds me of the scene with Nappa and Krillin from TFS DBZ abridged episode where Krillin is doing his attacks while Nappa is just standing there and Vegeta asks: "Nappa, what are you doing..?" and he replies: "It's his turn Vegeta, I have to wait for him." ;d

Like bro, they all are just standing there watching the Jabber guy talk for like 5mins straight and then he just runs away casually.

isn't it supposed to smell like shit outside, why aren't they wearing masks

the ep only showed this mf having targeted hostile intent and the talisman didn't work because skill issue ig. is there like a japanese phrase for "conscious hostile intent" and "unconscious hostile intent"?

anyway ep was very typical skill showcasing and vague villain motivations exposition. I fr wanted Gris to die for plot reasons but nah he had to survive getting stabbed to the heart.

Great characters, animation, action, and initial story line. But now it's just a very plain and boring shonen. Typically exaggerated over the top back and forth fights with zero logic and internal consistency. Just power creep to suit the plot. You'd think 30 years of the same formula could produce a little better story but no, it's the same old same old. It's almost exactly a Fireforce copy. Still, the animation and style are pretty dope and hopefully they bring back more of the humor. They were hilarious.

@maxellsibswe Oh, don't worry about me, usually I don't have any issues dropping a series. But in case of Gachiakuta it's that weird mix of interesting and promising art with incredibly disappointing story. I wanted to appreciate it, I wanted to enjoy it, but the author seems hell-bent on writing another Fairy Tail. At this point I'm just curious if they're going to address anything from the past two terribly mediocre episodes or Rudo is simply going to be sent on another mission to keep the grind going. Episode 8 will probably be my last.
@Preposterous I feel that. It's got style, the setting's got promise, and it's not like I don't like mindless action sometimes. I want to like it, but there's no spark. Some of it is what others mentioned that we're already trading rapid fire lethal looking blows that characters shrug off. That's a surefire way to kill the tension. Some of it is the characters being so hard to like. Heavy tropes and grating attitudes. But mostly I'm not even sure what it's missing.

At the moment it just lacks a villian with purpose. Hopefully we get that soon.

@Huperchild it doesn't really matter if the author is a guy or gal. The fact of the matter was that the fight was all flash and no substance. Yeah it looked good. Probably looks pretty awesome in the manga too. But the way Jabber was able to keep targeting Rudo even though he was "unconscious" is just some nonsense.

@Plopop they only need to wear masks in proximity to trashbeasts and trash heaps. After establishing that it was all a ruse and there was no trashbeasts around the masks weren't necessary.

I assumed that this was mostly about having conscious intent. Unconscious Jabber is obviously quite destructive, but unlike conscious Jabber he doesn't seem to remember his mission to capture Rudo, and is just mindlessly attacking (now that I think about it, my problem with this part is that this unconscious state seems counterproductive to his goal, he was like seconds away from accidentally killing Rudo)

I mean, I get what you're saying, obviously it's a loophole in the defense from the amulet that's quite convenient for the plot xD But I think even if you remove hostile intent, Jabber seems to just really love fighting. He also seemed convinced that this would be the outcome before he poisoned himself, so maybe just knows himself well enough to predict that. Maybe this is just regular sleepwalking to him? If so I pity the other Raiders xD

So Gris is gone for good 💔💔
Jabber is a crazy psycho but a persistent one. Can't believe he was fighting till the end even after all those insane ass kicking he got from Rudo and Zanko.
It seems the Raiders' leader and Rudo are connected (a dad) perhaps. I thought there was some connection between Rudo and the Cleaners' leader..guess we have to see them to find out.
Fine animation, soundtrack, and the voice actor for Jabber did a splendid job.

Nope, that guy’s not a masochist. He’s basically just an orgasm speedrunner at this point. Somehow, the moment he’s knocked out, he starts moving like he’s unlocked cheat codes. Anime logic, so it has to make sense even when it doesn’t lol. They could’ve done better with the fight I think, but if anything, at least we didn’t get something like Rudo one-shotting the bad dude with his first ever power-up. That could’ve made things worse tbh.

And Zanka… wow, what a contribution. Dude jumps in like he’s about to end things, then lets the villain wake up, giggle like a maniac, and still pull off exactly what he came for. Honestly, Zanka should’ve just stayed face-down a few more minutes lmaoo. Anyway of course, the crew rolls in right after, because obviously it’s still way too early for Rudo to square up with the big bad.. more so, when they tell that glove thing.

They went overboard with that cliffhanger honestly lol, knowing what's to come next episode.
@Softhenic03 Have you ever heard the term "durability" in fiction? Jabber has insane durability, and Zanka has been poisoned by a neurotoxin that paralyzes the prey, but somehow, he was able to fight, and in this fight, Jabber didn't even go all out.

In the world, nothing is perfect; every single show has some shortcomings, and if you keep criticizing every single thing, you won't enjoy even a single show.

Rudo said that his instrument's power was to prevent him and his friends from getting injured, so then what does hostile intent have to do with it? In this episode he suddenly says it's only activated by hostile attacks, yet it works when Zanka hits him, obviosuly without wanting to kill him or seriously injure him. Soemone explain it to me cuz it doesn't make sense.

I thought it was a pretty creative battle, I hope this is the kind of stuff we continue to get in this series!
@SamBlack I was starting to lose interest last week to be honest but the way they used powers playing off eachother here won me back pretty hard. I especially like that Rudo seems to destroy the objects so they are a limited time use thing so hopefully we will get a wide variety of stuff rather than seeing him fall into the same attacks and team ups. I do largely hope we arent gonna be in an endless boss rush though, I hope we get a balance of downtime and action cause shounen tend to lose me when the former happens.

Interesting way to use a Defensive ability to somehow give support to your allies. LOL

He said, he "imagine" it prevent him and his friend from getting hurt.

But every instrument as explain by the umbrella dude earlier episode, has their own trigger.

And the trigger here is "hostile intent" to "not get injured" (which was the line right after "prevent him and his friend from getting hurt")

Enjin and co. making an epic anime entrance... just for them to stand still and let Jabber talk for like five minutes before leaving through a portal.

Enjoyable episode despite the "hostile intent" confusion. The way Rudo and Zanka teamed up to fight Jabber was creative and though it's a shame Rudo's power only works once with each object, the idea of him using different objects every time he fights does sound appealing to say the least.

The mention of the series was interesting. Is their a class of Vital instruments that is a cut above the rest? Makes sense there'd be different tiers of Vital instruments.

and damn enjin looks so fine this ep, I really wanted to see a fight between them

and man Gris is a goated character like even when he's close to death saying to rudo that it was so meaningful for me but if it gave u anything that's better dammn

4 / 5 from he start I'm feeling like the colors isn't that good it feels a bit off

Also it was nice to see Rudo and Zanka combo off each other in that fight, it reminded me of Yuji and Todo's style of teamwork when they fight!
