First episode was interesting.

MC can't master any of the jobs, having little success, if any.

But he acquires the "parry" skill and trains literally day and night to boost that skill, which ends up helping him save people as he wanted to do.

But he feels so low that he doesn't even see a reason to say his name to the girl he saves, that was sad to see.

I enjoyed the start, I am going to continue watching.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Decided to pick this one up out of Dungeon people and quality assurance isekai, looks like I made a good choice! Very good first episode. Definitely not your standard power fantasy seasonal. OLM continue their good form after the amazing job they did on Kusuriya. Show looks beautiful, very fluid animation and narratively I think the first episode felt like a movie almost. Introduced Noor and showed his gradual progression to becoming an adventurer in one episode.

While he may not have officially earned the title yet, in the eyes of the girl he just saved and the demon he defeated, he’s definitely an adventurer. It ain’t about the number of skills you got, but the courage to step in and risk your life to save others.

I think it’s so cool to get a fantasy anime like this that actually shows us a hero’s journey and doesn’t focus on style over substance. Already in one episode, I feel emotionally attached to Noor and empathised with him losing both his parents at such a young age, wanting to make a name for himself and be like the heroes he read about as a child.

As long as the story stays grounded and there’s emphasis on Noor’s journey and development rather than just adding waifus and generic fantasy plot lines, could be special. Very excited about this one and I’m rooting for Noor!

Attacking thousands of stationary wooden swords nowhere near you isn't parrying, it's some sort of slashing area of effect attack. It's not even close to parrying. This kind of feels like the sort of thing a show about parrying should get right...

Still, enjoyed it. Reminds me of the other anime about the strongest tank, which was HORRIBLE, but this seems better.

Thank you show for having characters react mostly properly as they would normally do in those situations, and the MC recognizing the unfortunate dudes who died protecting the girl. Usually these things go unacknowledged which is sometimes a bit infuriating.

Really random question but does he think the minotaur is a cow or is that just what they’re called in that world?
@MochaHour I'm pretty sure his first reaction is just "oh damn that's a big cow!" because as he said, he had only seen minotaurs before in stories so the first thing he can relate it to is a cow.

Yep agree, when Dark Souls got my soul as a whole I didn't think it worked perfectly to handle overwhelmingly op boss & annoying npc invader or player with unforgivable combo such as Gwyn, Nameless king, Pontiff Sulyvhan, Twin Princes, and few invaders

Pretty alright, but the MC is a total moron. How the fuck does that thing look like a normal cow to you? It's pretty clear that was some sort of demon who could easily kill soldiers.
What is it with the trend of making powerful main characters who totally misjudge their own power?
And while I hate that, I liked most everything else. Earnest hard working MC is hard to dislike even if he lacks a brain.

decent ost. going thru many tropes feel slow paced, but was fast enough montaging thru the training.
fights animation surprisingly good.
OP got several cool shots. ED looks nice. liking Noor's more rugged style as mc.

I love this trope to be honest, where MC is dumb strong but under classes everything he comes across lol.

So far it's ok. Plot is meh. I've seen enough anime along the lines of the "absurdly strong but doesn't realize" trope for this to be enjoyable for me unfortunately.

Noor is a very decent human being that you want to cheer for.
I like the part where he just wants to be an adventurer so he can use his powers to help others.
Nice to see all his hard work paid off training every skill enough that he was able to learn enough low level skills to be useful in real life.
The was very epic the way he was able to defeat that Minotaur.
Definitely going to continue to watch this anime.

This is so fucking stupid. You can't learn parry alone, you can't do it by hitting wooden swords tied by ropes. I wish game cancer finally died because this is real problem with LNshit, not isekai.

Starting off. This is a very expressive and solid OP.

Good direction.

Well animated.

With the overall production value being fairly high and maintaining this throughout the episode.

Details where detailing is appropriate, ie backgrounds. Do not go unnoticed.

Should be a good run. If they maintain it for the entire first cour.

This first episode is Power Fantasy done right. Good pacing with a back story showcasing how he gets to where he is. Quality animations are consistent throughout the whole episode. This one definitely took me by surprise. Hopefully, the quality of the rest of the series is the same.

I watched this on a whim on YT and it was pretty meh even after he defeated the Minotaur but the episode title at the very end got a snicker out of me...a cow?! XD Well technically the Minotaur was a cow but lulz.
You see there's no need to wonder where your god is,

Hmm... the plot setting somehow seems to remind me of that other series with the newbie that started off in End Game town... who thought he was super weak, but is actually super strong...

This seems to be a more "grown up" version of that... (since the MC seems to have a rough childhood)

For a guy that's pretty much solo as a kid... he's pretty optimistic huh...

Most others would either be depressed most times or going all psycho "getting revenge on the world" type of shit, LOL.

(tho, he does sorta gets depressed after he grown up, being how he couldn't get a "class" and ends up thinking he's "weak"...)

.

Also... LOL... F-Rank... a class for "peons" aka "servants, workers, etc etc".

(I guess this means majority of us are F-Rank huh... since most of us here are most likely workers)

.

And we go back to the "fight"...

Are they doing this on purpose? This fight seems to resemble the first one Bell did in DanMachi... LOL (where Bell gets smacked and "pissed his pants")

(tho kinda "swapped" where MC defeats the Cow in first fight and save the girl, instead of the girl saving the guy)

___ ___ ___

___ ___ ___

Tho... in a way... it kinda feels like he sorta wasted his childhood huh...

Since he literally said he's been training every day on parry skill for 15+ years and doing nothing else... rip Childhoom.

This is gonna the season of muscular protagonist, and just by thinking about it make me so wet. For those who wondering, other anime include Shinmai Ossan, Kinnikuman remake, and the final part of Kengan Ashura.

Interesting premise, terrible execution. If there is a point to this, comedy perhaps, I don't see it.

There seems to be some sort of joke about the main characters name but it doesn't translate or come across.

Waste of time. Don't bother starting this one.

What a horrible story, I seriously think about starting to drop it the moment I hear this annoying medieval ost while the characters put san, kun or chan in the characters' names
They urgently need to improve this ridiculous script, every anime seems to be the same thing regardless of the theme or genre

Well I decided to check this series out once the dub came out, but I’m sure I’ll stick to it.

Noor reminds me of Asta in the way that he can’t do much that’s not physical. But unlike Asta, he has capacity for magic (just a very low amount). This guy went from scrawny little kid to built like a mountain. That along with his magical enhancements that he can do to himself and he’s a beast in his own right.

I wonder how his dad died before his mom. Obviously Noor’s mother was sick, but what happened to the old man?

Lady Lynneburg is lucky that Noor came when he did, and Noor may have found a way to fight in his own way. Now the thing with parrying is that he can only fight weapon swinging monsters. If he’s fighting a monster that shoots fire or just throws hands, will he be able to parry that?

I’ll at least watch the second episode before I decide whether I’m sticking with this series.
