Well, the title of this episode suits the protagonist perfectly especially with that parry skill. Jokes aside, he's still among the lowest ranks in ths show.

Protagonist Noor has a lot of heart though, protecting a helpless girl in need. Compared to some of the lighthearted fantasy anime this year, this one had a more depressing mood to it imo. Unfortunately, this anime doesn't really try anything refreshing in terms of storytelling, at least not yet outside of that parry skill.

I swear that ALL Earth Star Entertainment seralized series like novelist Nabeshiki's I Parry Everything, just like Sokushi Cheat some seasons back, are just generic Isekai with nothing to offer. Suprisingly, this show has substance, but how much?

Utahime Dream's OST is rather typical and nothing interesting.

The village boonie that is Noor being the livelihood of the city he lives, he once lived as a peasant with his only family being his ailing parents who passed away when he was young and has been living life on his own ever since. With the demise of his parents, Noor sets out to become an adventurer for the first time and has to go through the loop of training schools to earn his skills. Unfortunately, all he has going for him is his parrying, and no matter where he goes, all the trainers just don't see him as a potential, which basically put a stop sign to his adventuring being one with no recognizable talent. At least his swordsman parrying is one skill he can learn and pursue training, he must.

The last 14 years of his life training by parrying, and still, no fruition. Rather than aim for the lowest E-rank, Noor opts for the unheard-of F-rank, which limits him to miscellaneous quests within the city, but which still gives him an official adventurer title. But a cry for help leans Noor to see a huge monster of a cow (minotaur, rather) to stop it from attacking a girl and her small knight army, his parrying does the trick, even if he's not the hero that he once desired to be.

Surprisingly entertaining, though boring at times. An OK start, all things considered.

This is gonna the season of muscular protagonist, and just by thinking about it make me so wet. For those who wondering, other anime include Shinmai Ossan, Kinnikuman remake, and the final part of Kengan Ashura.

The backstory time given from the getgo was nice and the main character seems like an alright, muscular dude but the show itself was pretty damn boring to watch without pushing itself out of its comfort zone much. From the title to what actually happened by the end, feels interchangeable with a lot of other anime.

I'm surprised this show doesn't have the "comedy" tag. I read the first volume of the LN, and I would describe it as primarily a comedy about the densest man imaginable. If you like dense protagonists and comedic misunderstandings where everyone knows the MC is OP except the MC you might enjoy this, but otherwise you'll probably find it highly frustrating.

I had mixed-feelings about the LN, but I may watch the show just because the way they adapted Noor, both his appearance and personality, makes him so cute. I'm tired of bland, scrawny OP heroes - give me more adorkable hunks😤

I don’t get why the show has such a poor score already. Of all the anime that have started airing this season, this was probably one of the strongest pilot episodes. Most of the others have such poor pacing and stiff dialogue. Even though the animation is nothing special, and the premise isn’t very original, the execution and narrative style is very well done and the pacing is already solid. More importantly the dialogue actually feels organic. My only complaints so far would be it’s a pretty generic premise and will need to evolve to feel unique, and the “cow” situation makes me worry this will be another anime with an irreparably dense MC. But here’s hoping it’ll keep strong. Solid 8/10 pilot episode.

A pretty good start.

Now that basic introduction out of the way, it’s time for more parrying, even social interaction got parried lol.

This episode made me wonder why I even had it in my PTW. I think someone made it sound good enough to check out but boy, was this a miss. "Parrying training" being years of making shock waves was just embarrassing to watch. Not to mention the cancerous RPG mechanics in a "fantasy" setting where years of training won't make you a warrior because you need some undefined skill to swing a weapon. By the way, he left the goats to die. Or scriptwriter did by not knowing what passage of time is.

It was quite good. As a manga reader, I expected this much. The OP and ED are quite catchy and colorful. The animation surprised me; it's good. And no CGI too. Plus he's been tending animals all his fuckin' life, that explains why he saw a minotaur as a "loose cow". 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I agree Noor is oblivious of how strong he is but at least he doesn't hesitate to do what's necessary and fights when it's needed, that much is fair. Looking forward to more episodes.

The part where he hears a random person and runs to help just felt so random and out of no where, which is made weirder because of how they decide to show entire scene twice. Foreshadowing the scene with the scene and nothing in-between regarding it.

Just another series where the author couldn't get their build to work in a game so they have to write a power fantasy to fantasize about their mediocre build to be powerful.

I liked this 1st episode, the MC looks like a sort of Raelza's (from Handyman Satou) brother or even better the son of the couple, with the look and strong physique of her and the handyman skills of Satou XD

No no, he doesn't really think he's weaker like that. He just doesn't know how strong he is when it comes to killing monsters since he sees them as animals or sumn. And the OP is good, ED is better. But it won't be forever. He has guts and doesn't hesitate to take on evil when necessary. He's not a pussy so to say.

Edit: But he can be dense at times, but it's funny and never annoying. At least imo.

Noor has had a pretty rough childhood, losing his parents at such a young age to illness. I'm curious if in between those 3 months at each training school, he went back home temporarily to feed the goats and chickens. I'm glad he's the type that never lets bad events get him down, always keeping his chin up and hopeful.

When Noor threw the rock at the minotaur, I kinda wished he said "bullseye", lol.

You don't train to parry by striking at still unmoving objects, it literally means to block/deflect and counter. The Start was also fairly pointless considering its instantly a flashback and conveyed nothing to aid or set up the story. It would have been better structuring to just start with him as a kid instead of roundabout going back to the start. Lackluster start aside I'm hoping the story improves going forward.

Meh at best. At least initial episode. Although writers need access to dictionary as their definition of parry is completely different than one accepted by the rest of the world. Also if we are going to listen to "parry.... parry.... parry..." every episode, we might as well drop it now.

Overall deserving of another episode but nowhere near "anime of the season" as some have claimed.

It took three times of rewatch to realize how the 'cow' lost his head. The protagonist stopped the poleaxe, the cow lost the grip for it, and it flew to the neck of the cow. err... it's not 'parry'.

Liking the MC so far

- Spends more than a decade training alone
- Helps people
- Saves girl from giant "cow"
- Refuses to elaborate
- Leaves

Seems like an interesting concept by him only having a defensive skill, and having to rely on that to also attack enemies or create situations that work against them.

Hmm, the first 1 minute and 20 seconds was unnecessary if they are just gonna repeat it later. Anyways, not that bad or good start of a series. At least his not OP in his parrying skill if he has trouble with a cow look-alike demon. But it was probably a high class demon without him knowing it.
Is he gonna be yelling "parry" every single time? That was quite annoying. Hopefully not but he will probably do it. We'll see what the other episodes have to say.

I'm quite impressed with this series!
More than I hoped for.

I do hope this will be another epic series for this season.

We finally got another quality episode for this season, I just hope the quality lasts.

His voice yelling "parry" every time is cool. Only unappreciative fans nowadays doesn't appreciate how cool it is. Too much of a critic. lols
Really depends on what you like and love.

I also love the songs, it's a banger, more than OnK's S2.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Very interesting plot, and its good they didn't just started his journey like in every fantasy anime happens that protagonist just explains how he is so weak and just can't do anything and then story starts. But in this anime everything was so balanced even in the fight scene there was no sign that MC is very powerful with his just parry skill.

Animation quality is really amazing it gave me vibes of Frieren animation quality however it doesn't seems that there will be any comedy in this anime well we will see that in later episodes.

We didn't got any good fantasy anime in spring season, but this anime is really great. I started it just for fun cuz rating was good in MAL and it deserves more. I am giving this a solid 10/10
