The episode was nice, i am looking forward to see small's new abilities in action. The Lovecraftian influences are very strong and i approve.

I don't understand the age thing. Neil looks in his 60's and in the flashback he and Celeste look 30, how this was "20 years ago" ? Dunn looks in his 40's, men at that age do not call 60 year olds "old". The "15 years together" do not add up tho. I am totally confused here.
@Asangbanne I think “old” is a chinese thing. Real meaning will be more link uncle.

So Klein in his bid to save his friends by sharing the acting method, forced one of his closest friends into despair

The story is so brutal. I can’t imagine the amount of guilt Klein must be feeling right now

I truly didn't expect this episode, especially so soon. I thought we'd be seeing Klein clowning and instead we got hit in the feels :(

Though, once again suuuuuuper convenient how Klein was warned that he might be approached by Evil organisations now and Old Neil just happened to be targeted basically just before...

:(

I really thought they'd be able to save him :(

But he looks old.

Aha, so by all indications Neil was around same age with me (mid 50's) and looks several years older! the stress of this job can take a toll for sure...

The beginning of the story feels tense yet exciting because Klein managed to rise to the 8th sequence of the Seer pathway, “the Clown.”

But afterward, this might be the saddest part I’ve ever seen. Watching Old Neil lose control and turn into a monster, only to end up being executed.
From the very first episode until now, Old Neil has always had a kind personality and earned sympathy. It’s such a pity that his fate had to end that way.

With Dunn having to "shoot an old friend" like Neil did I'm the previous episode to havre is just tragic. The music direction, Neil's voice acting and dialogue choice (I wont hurt anyone... let me leave... trust me dunn... ill go into the mountains/you wont see me again etc), pathetic fallacy, kleins silence when he comes to realization, colours, and the irony and sadness of the title may just culminate in peak

Right from the first line: "The description turned out detailed, gotta pass it to the captain." What’s that about? Is he just writing a report about the last mission while chilling at home? Or is this description some new Chekhov’s gun that’s definitely gonna go off in four seasons and change everything?

Whoa, turns out their street lamps are powered by magical fire, not electricity like they showed in earlier episodes. Steampunk in all its glory.

I always thought those soundproof magical walls were just part of a ritual, granted by the god they’re praying to at the moment, but apparently anyone can just put them up anytime. I can easily imagine them being used on cooldown in some covert ops—you don’t even need to hide much. Cast this thing on a room, take out a target with a chainsaw, a minigun, or even blow up a bomb, and no one in the next room will hear a thing.

Usually, when a character decides to spill some ultra-secret info that’ll instantly help all their friends, it’s such a textbook death flag I don’t even know what to say.

Didn’t the church have some prophet to prophesy about the MC? He’s literally a level 9 nobody. Yet they immediately send some big shot after him. They tortured the guy for like 25 seconds, half his answers were just screaming “aaaah,” and Green-Eyes is like, “Yup, our guy’s totally clean.” So the fog is already at level 4+ power and completely undetectable?

Turns out the girl from the start of the episode didn’t take the same oath? Otherwise, she’d have been “punished justly.” That’s a pretty loose interpretation of the oath. Was she 100% sure the MC knew the method and wasn’t some heretic, not worried at all that a mistake would get her zapped by lightning? The oath in the episode didn’t mention any exceptions. Of course, maybe this girl had some special custom oath.

Was the cheerful rainbow mist when brewing the potion in the book?

Chugged a shot and became a speedster. Hope his pants don’t rip from all the strain of catching flying papers—his hat’s clearly glued on. Wonder who else at level 8 can run at the speed of sound, because Rose Guy definitely couldn’t. Leveled up, so gotta flex by trying to smash a hallway lamp. So his strength isn’t magical at all, and the MC can now dangerously throw papers with just his physical skills? Alright. The clown spec is like a treasure trove of useful passive abilities that other RPG specs in this show haven’t shown at all. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if the captain, after drinking a potion, instantly learned to make the best shawarma in town.

“Oh, if the MC did it in two months, I can surely do it in a couple of years!” Looks like this character exists for gags like “look, I’m a goofball.”

I mean, I get that the old man’s a goner, but it’s weird that after such sappy invitations with that music, anyone still had doubts about it.
Moonlight Sonata again. How powerful is that piano if they can hear it from a moving carriage with closed windows? Poor neighbors. So these guys were heading to a café near the old man’s house and decided to swing by for him? Guess it was too hard for him to walk there. The captain says, “Go,” and they instantly know they need to fetch some specific magical trinket? The old man didn’t even seem fully transformed at first, but I guess the captain sees mutants of this RPG class every day, instantly gets them, and can stay completely chill even if it’s his buddy.

If they had a more open-minded captain, he could’ve observed the situation and kept the old man if he kept doing his job as before—or maybe even better. The guy played the piano like a pro in that state. Sure, the old man looks rough, but quotas for catching criminals don’t go away. And who knows, maybe those scattered meat chunks smell nice and are good for the health of nearby colleagues.

Though, of course, the old man just said he’d pay for everyone at the bar and then bailed on going—that’s unforgivable around here, grounds for a cold-blooded kill.

So, did the old man turn into that thing because he performed some ritual to learn how to resurrect people, and that’s what transformed him into this mess? If he already knew about it, what stopped him from doing another ritual before the other idiots showed up? The fact that he just casually decided to transform right before gathering all his friends at the bar—I’m just chalking that up to the local endless “incredible coincidences” that fans will explain away with some nonsense about fate, puppeteers above puppeteers, or “it was predestined 10,000 years ago.” And then that resurrection recipe just conveniently fell right into the MC’s hands, lol.

What, a flying coffin? Alright. These guys clearly don’t care about secrecy at all. The grave seemed to dig and build itself too—pure witchcraft.

If one episode with an obvious tearjerker about a character we barely interacted with three times was enough to spike the ratings overnight, what can you say? Clearly some gypsy tricks.

And that Chekhov’s gun from when the old man came down to tell everyone he needed to take a dump and left right after still hasn’t fired. How am I supposed to trust the fans after this?

@lalindu Well, since I started this title, I’ll see it through. Anyway, I just love writing long texts.

@Tmdcmnr Meh, another fresh account on this forum has nothing to say about their favorite title and, as usual, just mumbles something with a personal attack. At least they’re not accusing me of racism like it’s the norm around here.

@lalindu No clue what cinema sins is, though I’m equally clueless why everyone’s coming at me just because I don’t watch this Chinese show with my mouth agape, drooling, but instead ask questions about what’s happening and write about it on the forum. Guess someone’s ego got bruised again.

@OrigamistToo this is like the 4th times you bring up the age of my account as somehow it's relevant. Kinda rich coming from a private account with barely more time than mine. At least I have the decency to show mine rating coming from a novel reader.

I tried in previous thread but it's clear to me that you aren't coming here to discuss in good faith. Nobody would've say anything if you actually discussing about plot points instead of focusing on "magical lamp" and "flying coffin" (which btw was lowered to the grave with chain, which your trained eyes had seemed to miss)

@lalindu I checked out one of his videos, and the guy’s just pointing out movie bloopers. I wouldn’t say I like his speaking style or the content itself, but you’ve got to give him props for his work ethic and content output—1,700 videos aren’t something just anyone can pull off. Though, of course, movies aren’t anime. In movies, it’s understandable that you can’t catch everything, but anime bloopers are usually right in your face. People often just gloss over them, too enchanted by the work itself or its “themes,” or they just don’t care about what’s happening. Here, though, the fans set a high bar from the start, like “you have to watch everything closely, or you’ll miss a Chekhov’s gun” or “every single moment is fully explained and makes sense.”
In my post, only the paragraph about the lamps could fit the category of bloopers, as it clashes with the steampunk aesthetic they’ve attributed to the title, which so far hasn’t shown up beyond those pipes in the market in episode 5. The rest of my questions go straight to the core of the work itself.

@Tmdcmnr
Dude, if I start memorizing the usernames of all the local accounts created a month ago with a 10/10 for Lord of Mysteries, I won’t have any brain space left to dissect the wild plotstwists of this thing. If these were all your personal accounts, then I'm sorry, I couldn't figure it out in any way. And I don't really care, to be honest.
Guess you only read the bit about the lamp, bеcause there was a picture there, and the part about the coffin. It reminds me of how, in the discussion of the last episode, some guy got mad at my two-line paragraph about the fisherman that started the text and immediately started attacking me, lol.
Yeah, they took him down with chains, but how does that negate my point that he was just floating between the guys before that?
What, are people supposed to ask questions about the great Lord of Mysteries only in a polite, upstanding way? Are you suggesting I bow down to the mighty LOTM before writing my next post and start it with, “Oh, I loved everything so much, peak cinema”? That’s just my writing style—if you don’t like it, don’t read it.

@Nanami They seem to have some kind of magic gas, because the fire on the gas burner does not look like that.

@OrigamistToo that guy last ep was me, you should stop pretending not recognizing me bro 😂. Literally nobody here want to interact with you except me. Guess I'll will stop responding to these too.

Anyway, here is an image of a gas lamp.

Wow the fire seems to be hovering, clearly this means our lamps are powered by magic too 🤯

Dude, in your pic, the lamp has a flame divider and that’s the only reason the flame looks all pretty with those tongues going in different directions, lol. Even then, it doesn’t look like just a floating fireball in the middle of a glass lamp.

Educational MAL forum—having to spend 2 minutes on Google just to argue, only to find out there’s a whole modern industry making decorative gas burners with flames in all sorts of shapes. Here’s your incredible “burner proof” from an online store page. It’s honestly amazing how people don’t shy away from lying about the tiniest nonsense just to get a jab in.

@OrigamistToo sure sure incredible comeback there. Was just finding the first image with transparent fire on google btw 😔. Maybe that particular one was due to some tricks, but there are ton of other images that clearly don't. Doesn't take away the fact that gas are transparent and can burn looking like that.

What kind of was being foreshadowed over the last 2 episodes, unfortunately came true. This one is a heartbreaker :(

This episode did a complete 180 from Klein’s happy day to Old Neil’s funeral. The scene in his house was heart wrenching. They just had to show his eyeballs fall to the floor.

RIP Old Neil “If you can not save her, then accompany her.”

@OrigamistToo you're not asking questions, not even providing constructive criticism

From everyone's pov, it really does look like you're just hating for the sake of hating.

Now i'm saying "look like", maybe you aren't necessarily doing that, but from how you construct your sentences, it just looks like you're looking down on everyone

Your opinion and observations pass through as "overly ragebaity" and not really seeking for help or explanations. That might not be your intention, but please try being nicer to others to avoid conflict.

There are a lot of people who love different series with all their hearts, and will get easily offended.

@zintsky_ Oh, and you ran off and made a brand new account just to explain something to me for the lols. So far, you only differ from the standard bot account on this forum by the fact that you haven't had time to rate LotM 10/10 yet. If I'm not even asking questions, then why do they barge in to answer them? And if these people have issues with perceiving text, that's their problem—if it's so hard for them to read it, let them not read it. After all, they managed to slog through their little book with a billion characters somehow.

By the way, thanks for reminding me about the existence of this title. I guess I should finally watch episode 12 today.
