Why did the crows take about the first and last fight but didn't mention Zenitsu's achievement? Discrimination detected lol
Also did Akaza kill himself or did Muzan kill Akaza because he disobeyed him? I think both interpretations are possible

@Jollyne7 While all shonen animes have plot armor I do like what they did here and it is consistent… demons do have emotions that might affect them like Rui for example and Dabi Akaza was the same … their emotions are another weakness they have. And it shows that the main characters are not overpowered and could lose anytime And Akaza also got his own plot armor when he resisted dying despite his head vanishing … his “willpower” saved him and you rarely see a plot armor for the villain like that |

@Jollyne7 would it be plot armor if when Tanjiro cut off his head, he just died right then and there? There's a very obvious reason why he "committed suicide", which you clearly missed. Mfs will call anything plot armor lol. |

just finished a camprip of it and the theater screen was well-centered through most of it. audio was the usual bad to ok. unfortunately, the fansubber couldn't keep up. TONS of scenes were completely devoid of subs. a pair of folks did come in late to the movie and got in the way. seriously? who comes into a movie this awesome late? looked just as good as all the other entries for Demon Slayer. just as many OP camera angle wonkies and jukes n jives. got some good fights as well as backstories in on several bad n good characters. but of course, the penultimate fight was Tanjirou & Giyuu VS Akaza. Infinite Castle P1 shows ufotable still has that mastery of Infinite Budget Works. ;> |

@woodhowze In a strange twist, Akaza received memories from his life just as he was about to finish them off, and the power of his wife's and loved ones' "love" stopped him. Yeah, it certainly doesn't feel like a cheap trick to save the main characters. XD |

just saw the movie at the theaters in Kawasaki that was way much better than I expected from Ufotable's series. So many things happened, so many changes in the atmosphere of this series, this has just got better and better, from my perspective, I think this Overcome Mugen Ressha-hen because of this movie's lengths and importance of it. well most likely because of Mugen Ressha-hen was a thing, I just got emotional about the arrive of Akaza... This was a beautiful, Amazing and A Perfect movie. I really hope we get more information about the 2nd part... 10/10 from me |

@FZREMAKE Should I define a coherent plot, the fact that it doesn't explain why Nezuko doesn't need to eat humans to power up? The fact that by sleeping, she reaches the level of a crescent moon? The fact that she can survive in the sun without a logical explanation? Damn, DS fanboys are so blind. |

@Leon888 The manga broke all records even before the anime becoming popular ... it broke one piece's record
So it is not about the animation only.

Since you mentioned AoT/SnK you are clearly delusional as the first season of AoT got one of the best animations at that time by Wit ... If AoT had bad animation no one would have watched it.
Yes animation is important for tv series and movies but it is not the only thing
ufotable has series with insane animation but they are badly rated ... why? Take a guess ...
and btw a lot of people hate AoT and for any anime you will find haters and lovers so I guess you are delusional thinking AoT didn't get this hate

@UaEfAlCoN83 Aot is hated for other reasons that have nothing to do with the story or the characters... but he's definitely not hated like Demon Slayer. Also, the Demon Slayer anime came out in 2019... lmao, you don't even know what you're talking about since the manga without the anime would still be unknown. Mod Edit: Removed baiting. |

@Leon888 This still doesn't define the deviation from the main plot. The main plot is still consistent. Other than that, all these exception are explained and even if they aren't highly explained to your liking, these kind of exception are NECESSARY in almost every single fucking anime to make it interesting. If you just want to hate on it then you will point out anything and call it a negative point. It has a simple plot. That's a bad point. It has plot twists. That's a bad point. It has amazing animation. That's a bad point. |

CONTAINS SPOILER Man, the movie was really good until the "end" of the fight with Akaza, but then they spent a freaking hour in flashbacks that no one cares and then Akaza does that. Just fucking ridiculous. When is anime going to just end fights in the right time, instead of this never ending "but wait, there's more" bullshit? |

@Jollyne7 I found it completely believable. Given literally everything that happened and was said in front of you during the film, it was clear he was suppressing memories, emotions, and a deep running complex with himself feeling like he took the easy way out. It was his way of finally being forced to confront all of these and seek recompense. If that doesn't work for you, then fine, but it worked for me and apparently a lot of other people. |

Infinity Castle in Demon Slayer is a visual and emotional juggernaut—every second drenched in raw power, beauty, and heart. Okay so they're going full saint seiya sanctuary arc/shikamaru platoon arc on these movies. Shinobu fought doma, she gave it her best by poisoning him and lost and he proudly absorbed her. Zenitsu fought his former senior Kaigaku and defeated him with a new 7th thunder breathing dragon form. Tanjiro and Giyu fought Akaza, but he is too strong, Akaza only died by killing himself from guilt and regret. |

Blue spider lily in Demon Slayer is fictional, as it is the opposite of red spider lily which describes death while blue describes life. That’s what the world of demon slayer says. Plus it is heavily known that Nezuko and Tanjiro’s mother knew where it was, and fed them to her children. I don’t know what you were trying to do there but hope I corrected your information |

From a Japanese perspective, it is considered better to occasionally incorporate elements of comedy to ease tension appropriately.
I feel that there is still a cultural gap between Japanese and foreigners.

A couple years ago when I tried to give this "new modern anime" a try to see if it was worth the hype... and I was blown away, saw the first 3 seasons in a week and kept it on my radar. Now a couple months ago i rewatched the anime including swordsmith village and hashira training. I was again surprised and really hyped for the movies. After watching this one I cant describe the thrilling feeling of exitement I got. Good action, lore drops and overall amazing. I think it manages really well to pay off previous plot points and hype out whats coming. Everyone will critisize the Akaza fight and rightfully so, pretty extended backstory, some interrumptions and... How could they have won if Akaza wasnt a good guy deep down? Like Seriously, he got Tanjiro and Tomioka on the ropes most of the fight and even after they cut his head off, his body refused to die, and no gimmick this time, just didnt die with his head cut off straight up; MAJOR plot armor here. Besides from that, it was beatiful, and may the Infinite Wait Arc between movies commence. |

@Lauro_Rios Yeah, I really appreciate author's effort to connect the fights with each character's arc and give each climax emotional weight rather than just fights against powerful foes with no connection to each other. It makes it feel more cohesive and gives closure to many of the characters. |

Just saw it in Japan and I'm so glad I did. Fantastic overall, although maybe a bit too long. Shinobous death was really felt, even though I've read the Manga. Mamoru Miyano did an amazing job with Doma, coming off a super creepy and terrifying. Zenitsu's fight was short yet amazing! And then the main course, Giyuu and Tanjiro vs Akaza, and boy did it live up to the hype. Tanjiro unlocking Transparent World and Selfless state had me wanting to jump up and down. Akaza's flashback was good, really good. But it came too late in the fight in my opinion. |

I'm proud to be the first comment that watch this in cinema outside Japan. To clarify, I watch this in Japanese language with subtitles. And yes, this should be watched in cinema. Don't even think about watching it at home, only cinema can bring Ufotable's audiovisual to its full potential. The pace is generally fast with a lot of short flashbacks. The final part, which is about Akaza, has its own rhythm. It's very very slow, and very very risky if it fail. But I'm glad to announce that its emotional reward is worth all the risk it takes. This should automatically be anime movie of the year, but I can't be too sure considering that I still have yet to watch Chainsaw Man the movie, 100 Meters, and above of all, Mamoru Hosoda's Scarlet. |

@Magpareddi This is a discussion thread for the first episode/movie. If it was shown in the first movie, we don't need to put it in a spoiler tag because everyone watching should already know about it, if it is something outside the episode, ie, from the original source manga/light novel. We should put it in the spoiler tag. Also, there are some users who mentioned this topic in this thread before as well. |

Akaza backstory and ending are great. In the end, he sticks to his principles and doesn't become a "despicable weakling" who relies on the cheating abilities of the demons. When Tanjiro conceals his fighting spirit and cuts off Akaza's neck, he has already admitted defeat from the bottom of his heart. He knows that Tanjiro has surpassed him. Finally, Muzan said "Tonight" everything will end. For us, there may be more than four years. |

Just got back from watching it and was really impressed. Maybe the only criticism would be that the heavy, emotional backstory that accompanied that final fight, probably was a bit much to give that much attention to when it was already well over two hours into the film. It was brilliant, but I personally was already feeling quite drained and it didn't hit as hard as it probably could have done. |

γThis is a review from Malaysian!γ 14th August 2025 Yep I watch as soon as it's released in my local cinema. Overall quality of animation, sound, voice acting, storytelling is a solid 10/10. Maybe some people think, why it's adapted into a movie trilogy? For me it's more better, I am so agree to have the last fight for every upper moon demon is made into a cinema quality, they deserve it. SPOILER ALERT There is 3 section of every fight, the last one is so well made! 1. Shinobu vs Doma Unfortunately, hashira lose. but some people said, (because I don't read the manga), this isn't full scale fight yet. Doma will lose anyway, Shinobu ain't 100% dead yet. Cliffhanger here, they didn't tell what happen to Kanao, I don't want she's dead too, someone must save her! 2. Zenitsu vs Kaigaku This one is cool. So plot twist that Zenitsu have a secret breathing skill. He plan to use it together with Kaigaku. But yeah, turn out it's for killing Kaigaku. It's emotional when his trainer, that old man, say something nice to Zenitsu. Really mind blown scene from a character that used to be really comedic. 3. Tanjiro & Giyu vs Akaza The most epic one. Tanjiro really lock in, he can outsmart Akaza. I love Tanjiro's flashback, seeing his dad when he's still alive, he's so cool. Then yeah, Tanjiro successfully flashback Akaza past life, that is very sad. This really related to, "Villain isn't born, but it's made". He born poor, have to find money to threat his sick dad. He stealing money and got executed many time. His dad hanged himself so his son can live better. Not only that, he almost live better, after his martial art teacher recruit him, threat a sick girl, a daughter of his teacher, until she became well. Akaza (aka Hakuji) almost married to the girl, Koyuki. And owned the martial arts house after his teacher give it to him. The damn kanata student or smth poison the teacher and daughter. He almost have a better life tho. why?. Then he killed all of katana student, and Muzan recruit him with force. Then he loss memory. Finally he remember all of it when Tanjiro give a small punch, and killing himself with his breathing skill. He believe that, he is the most weaker, he didn't fulfill his dad, his teacher, and his beloved fiance promise. I believe, he is the strongest demon ever, he didn't defeated by demon slayer, but himself. Then he started peace with himself, and go to the hell with respect. The most heart touching part is, he and his fiance, is reunited but in hell. My gentleman tears is damn coming out bro. Good job ufotable staff, all cooperation, the original author for this banger! That's all I guess. Can't wait for 2027, and 2029. InsyaAllah, I still live, so I can see the full movie trilogy. Keep up the good work! Thank you for this masterpiece! -Nyuminzt- |

just got back from cinema tbh, i rarely being active of MAL but somehow i just feel unsatisfied and will randomly rant here. i think adapting this final arc of anime series as trilogy is tricky balancing act. You dont get your traditional movie arc (at least infinity train got abit) because every build up already done in the TV series (bollywood muzan walk), so definitely I was expected it will be fully action packed movie. then come the infinity castle design itself which beautifuly 3D rendered but at same time you have to throw all logic (no fall damage) since you will not know the location of each members (it kinda like to make sense with map making scene). in akaza fight for example, you wont care about their positioning and just assume they fighting in same room despite being thrown around hundred of meter away most of the problems i had definitely the staple of demon slayers (random flashback sad backstory, character able to do stuff despite being injured, random power up during fight), so im kinda on board for most of the part until middle part of the movie. I ask myself, demon slayer always have the "heart" or at least about struggle of humanity vs demon not just flashy fights 24/7, so where it is? .... it is in last half of the movie so in the end, i think pacing is major issue (almost get bored toward the end). can enjoy it is usual dumb popcorn summer blockbuster movie, it is beautifully animated movie from ufotable as usual also, as expected with cool cliffhanger scene that hyped you back before exiting the cinema at least i feel the humanity vs demon arc related to akaza kinda fulfilled if you considered what happened in first movie, although it was a bit draggy. actually im not sure if i can change the arrangement of the scenes to make sense in this movie. personally i think it would be great to have more akaza backstory after become demon. i mean, normal movie villain should have motivation right? despite being henchman of muzan. i totally forgot the part that he wanted to beat the 1st upper moon that teased in cliffhanger |
Nah, i dont think sharing anime ratings in signature is cool thing. Here, stare at this pointless signature instead. |

I just read a Shinobu doujin this morning so seeing her get killed and absorbed like that was a rather strange experience |
