Good for Pop and her friends for pulling off their event. Despite everything that happened, it looked like a success in the end. Knuckleduster has also grown onto me as a memorable character.

Kouichi is back fighting the good fight again as a vigilante. The season finale felt look a typical episode so they didn't really pull off anything groundbreaking. It was an interesting season imo, better than some of the actual main seasons.

Season 2 announced, coming 2026

The usual calmness comes back to Naruhata, and Koichi would be dead meat if it ain't for Captain Celebrity saving him from the typical villain. For the time being, him resting at Koichi's place to talk about his sense of justice, Chris is quite the anomaly that Makoto always has her hands full with her boss's hectic schedule. However, that pales in comparison when Kunckleduster isn't around, and to make matters worse, the affair with Teruo Unagisawa and Ideo Trigger putting Tsukauchi and Eraser Head on the lookout against suspicious characters on the loose.

The Narufest, while being the center of performers and heroes alike, with Captain Celebrity not being around, Koichi being asked to replace the hero that the lil' girls want to see, and they get their chance when a bat villain infused with Trigger goes on the hunt for the vigilantes, with Captain Celebrity chasing him down in close pursuit, and taking his chances to make fame by saving Koichi out of trouble. A good PR stunt, if you ask me.

With Knuckleduster's brass knuckles left intact and Koichi doing his servitude to give it a clean speck, and Soga having to take care of Tamao until her father's arrival (and him just barely missing his wife's recovery), life with Kunckleduster may have come to an end, but the memories will stick by together, long after the human memory has faded.

Naturally, a good stopping point for Season 1, because Season 2 is coming next year!
Such a good time for Vigilantes to get its complete adaptation!

Just like how All Might pass on his power to Deku, this is how Knuckleduster pass on his power to Koichi, it may not be as epic but it's still full of good intention.

Another contrast between All Might and Knuckleduster is "I'm here", for All Might he said it to his people, his citizen, his civilian, for Knuckleduster he said it to his family, his wife, his daughter, the scale is different, but both are also full of good intention.

I wish this could continue another cour since the main series will air on October, but stopping at this point is also a good decision so that the audience won't get hero-fatigue syndrome.

Now that this season ends, I can say it for sure, Vigilante is a must watch for HeroAca fan. The world building is good enough that even though the entire main cast from the main series are missing from Vigilante, it's not only survive on its own, but thrive and becomes indispensable part of this franchise.

Overall, a pretty solid 1st season, enough build up of character, relationship, and story that it probably reaches the highest point in the overarching development.

Certainly hope season 2 puts the story into its necessary downward trajectory.

Good to see a decent spin off without having to push insanely high world level threat into your face.

Knuckleduster's story was the carrying aspect of this show and great use of a quirkless character.

That OP is so catchy, my favourite of the season.

With a somewhat bittersweet finale considering how Knuckleduster wasn't able to say goodbye to Koichi or Pop in order to take care of Tamao, they carry on now looking towards the future while cherishing the acts they did together and the people they've met along the way. This was a great spin off of My Hero Academia, so much so that I think that while it depends in a way of the sucess of the original series and some references/cameos here and there, it can stand on its own as well.

It features a more consistent animation that while it doesn't reach the highest highs of some season, it definitely doesn't go for the lowest lows. The characters are the big improvement here as each of them is developed so well that I was even able to care about the side ones that appeared here and there. Also, the smaller scope made them able to focus on a plot that is more believable and well paced to the poin that the quirks don't have to be explained every 2 minutes, you can just get them by context or by how the rest of the cast reacts to them.

There is more stuff I liked like how the deal with Tamao was certainly sinister and could have easily ended on a bad note considering the darker tone of this series. Also, having Koichi, Pop and Makoto with silly interactions between them and feelings that while yet to be properly expressed are way more preferable to shy embarrassment over nothing. But what I like the most was having a quirkless hero be resourceful enough to fight head on with some of these villains, using reasonable techniques from what he had at his disposal instead of just plot armour or something out of nowhere.

This is what I though the original series was going to be at first and while it's still alright (heh, see what I did there?) I feel like this is the direction it could have gone in order to come off as a more proper hero story. There is still more room to cover here so I'll wait patiently to see whether it continues or not.

Edit: Fuck yes, it's continuing https://x.com/vigilante_mha/status/1939691980172476906

Oh Man, his Wife actually dies, the Queen Bee parasite tears the Hell out of it's host if it get's in the head. Damn. At least the daughter lived, quite the counterpoint with all the light-hearted vibes the rest of the episode had. Koichi was sure getting beat up a a lot & CC is still freaking obnoxious. LOL

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

This was more or less a very long epilogue episode. Not that I mind. I love that kind of stuff.

Midnight in regular office lady attire looks so good.

Captain Celebrity is the same as ever. But Makoto is keeping him in line. Pop Step is getting more popular. And Koichi is getting better as a vigilante. It feels like life is moving on without Knuckleduster. But none of them quite realized it.

Thankfully, Tamao and her mom are both fine. If the reason Knuckleduster became a vigilante was to save his daughter, then I guess he doesn't need to be a vigilante anymore. Is this the end of Knuckleduster? I doubt it. But even if it did end here then I think it'd be ok. It felt like a satisfying end.

So glad this is getting a second season. I loved this spin-off so much. Way more than the main series. I feel like Vigilante raised my expectations and made me more excited for the final season of MHA than I otherwise would've been, albeit I know how it ends... Regardless, I can't wait for Season 2 of Vigilante.

Kind of a wrap-up episode with a tiny bit of action with the gargoyle dude from last time. Seems like his daughter is on her way to a full recovery, but is his wife dead?

Overall it's a fine show, nothing special, but also entertaining for the most part. The cast was alright, no character really stood out for me tbh, at least from the new characters. Apparently a 2nd season got announced already, I'll surely watch that one as well. 6/10

Lovely final episode. Really shows that episode 12 was the climax and this is like an extended post credit scene or something.

Happy to see Tamao awake and back to normal. Really sucks that her mother seems to have passed away tho? Poor Knuckleduster. He finally got his daughter back, but now lost his wife. Life really doesn't want him to have a happy end 😭😭😭 Cannot imagine how Tamao will feel once she finds out the truth... that entire family has been through so much.

Kinda sucks that Knuckleduster didn't give a proper goodbye to Pop or Koichi, nor did he ever explain his situation to them. I understand that his priority is being there for his daughter right now, and he absolutely should. But I hope that he will get to share more about his personal life with Koichi and Pop down the line.

Speaking of the two love birds, seems like they have basically moved in at this point, with Pop bringing more and more of her stuff in into his apartment lol Happy for them finding their new normal. Pop has basically become a proper (all be it small) idol and Koichi continues his Vigilante activities on his own now.

What I liked was how Captain set him down and actually tried to talk some sense into him. As irresponsible as CC usually is, this was surprisingly mature of him (even if he mainly did it cuz Koichi playing hero was causing more work for him lol).

All in all, I'm happy that this anime is getting a second season. Honestly, give me 7 seasons of Koichi, instead of 7 seasons of Deku 😂😅

I really hope to see Knuckleduster and Koichi reunited next season!

How are these instant villains being modified to allow for their bodies to take in more Ideo Trigger to the point where their transformations are semi-permanent? Speaking of, I’m surprised that All Might wasn’t apart of Naomasa’s meeting with Eraserhead and Midnight because he’s someone who can INSTANTLY take down any villain. I mean, he is the standard of power that is used for comparisons throughout the show. When Shigaraki first woke up in Season 6, Kyudai Garaki compared Shigaraki’s strength to All Might in his prime and in Season 7, Best Jeanist said Shigaraki’s speed is greater than Prime All Might.

I didn’t expect Captain Celebrity to visit Koichi’s place, but he’s got a point. If Koichi doesn’t have the capabilities to take down these villains himself, he should leave it up to the pros, but at the same time with all of them popping up, somebody has to at least distract him to ensure that the innocent civilians don’t get hurt. If The Crawler didn’t come in when he did, that random guy could have DIED.

What kind of connection does Soga have with Knuckleduster for him to look after Tamao like that? Vigilantes needs to continue because there are still unanswered questions.

Pop Step is enjoying her newfound fame performing at the Marukane Shopping District and Koichi doesn’t suck at singing.

That one guy with the scar from the end of the last episode seems to be the one behind the Trigger incidents, and that bat from a few episodes back comes back into play, but this time is dealt with swiftly by CC. However keep in mind that this dude was able to match Captain Celebrity’s flight speed, so he’s nobody to scoff at.

Knuckleduster leaving behind his brass knuckles and mask is obviously a symbolic representation of him parting ways with Koichi and Pop Step, especially with the flashback in which he confidently leaves everything to the two of them, meaning that he may be done with his vigilante work now that Tamao is back.

With this season concluded, next up is the final season of My Hero Academia…

I'm surprised and please about how much I enjoyed this spin off, I was worried I wouldn't care about since since I've completely fallen out of love with the main show but as I expected, I just can't stand Deku, Shigaraki nor All for One and those type of villains with unlimited regen / healing factor. Kouchi and Kazuho are two endearing and cute characters, while Knuckleduster is a much, much better mentor than All Might.

@Iamtragedy The artstyle is really something, and it'd be cool if the final season has it (I know it likely won't). Season 7 does incorporate the onomatopoeias, so there's something in that regard at least.

@Softhenic03 If they aired simultaneously, that would be too much for someone to try to keep up with in terms of MHA. They'd have to follow what's currently going on in the final season and the developing story of Vigilantes, and that'd simply be overwhelming.

@rasterman7 Firstly, I don't get the joke.

Secondly, are you implying that the main series has plot armor while Vigilantes doesn't? If so, I'd disagree because plot armor doesn't exist in My Hero Academia whatsoever. If not, you can ignore this.

The only times in the main series that quirks are explained is when they are complex enough so that the audience can't figure it out on their own, and that's even done in this series as well. In the intro, we learn how Koichi's Slide and Glide works.

I agree that the animation here is consistent, but not that MHA in general has less consistent animation as I've never noticed any downgrades in animation quality throughout the series.

Calm ep

We see the daily lives of Koichi, Knuckle, and Pop once again as they tackle their own life issues.

Finally, Koichi realizes he needs to get stronger and he never seems to surprise me with his terrible singing at the concert lol.

The lightning mastermind is causing havoc per usual and they stop them for destroying the city with Captain.

Was really hoping that Tamao would be able to see her mother one last time, but now its time for her and Knuckle to truly get along again without the mother. Damn, sad that the mother passed the minute that Knuckle finally got to truly see her again.

9/10

Good thing that s2 is soon, tho I hope production isn't rushed and hopefully its in late 2026 or sum.

To me the main series suffers a little bit from the "Dragon Ball Z" syndrome with fights stretching to 3 and more episodes while outside people getting knocked down and special effects being tossed left and right nothing really happens for the plot. Here on the other hand You get some action, but the action ends quickly and we get our share of comedy and even some character development and chronology progres.

I'm always up for an epilogue episode after a satisfactory climax. But almost 70% of this episode feels like blatant filler along with recycling footage in flashbacks, just to push until the end the real important issue at hand with Knuckles and his daughter. Thus the whole father/daughter reunion and the mother being in critical condition feels less impactful on my behalf. I know there will be a season 2, but it's not really a good excuse to give less spotlight to the important issues at hand just for the sake of padding up the story. This finale really soured my overall experience and I'll have to give it just a 7/10 (it would had been an easy 8.5/10 with a proper finale episode).

@zamasz Can you give an example? Sure the fights are more flashy, but they have substance to them. The examples I think of are Izuku vs. Gentle Criminal, Deku vs Kacchan Part 2, and the current fight against Shigaraki. All those have more effects in comparison to earlier seasons, but there's so much story within those conflicts beyond the physical altercation.

@LaczPro19 There are reoccurring characters in Vigilantes from the main series that you would understand further if you watched the main series first.
@KingBaller06 I wonder what they're going to do with the one arc in Vigilantes, since it arguably links to Eraserhead in the present MHA and is genuinely a good flashback arc. And I remember stuff with Midnight involved as well, it's both bittersweet and tragic in how it puts certain things into perspective not only with Eraserhead, but another character we'll probably get focus on for the final season in the big climactic fight
