The waiting of the longest week of my life was so fucking worth it! I'm not kidding when I say I was looking forward to this more than the reveal of gear 5 Luffy. And for the first time this season, this episode didn't feel like 5 mins long cause I keep re-watching scenes! Goddamn that was a perfect episode.

Why isn't Cha-Hae just carrying a weapon in case anything happens, knowing how unpredictable the portals are? Should be common safety. Also, why is the ogres' language perfectly understandable yet the elves' language was gibberish? Again. Part 912491284912 of NPCs being saved by Sung Jin-Woo, holy fucking shit I'm so tired. WE ALREADY KNOW HOLY SHIT, we know that Jin-Woo is Gigachad Sigmalord bro, this show is so derivative and repetitive. Everyone fears the ogre lord except for our main character of FUCKING COURSE... "this isnt as scary as le spooky statue"... and yeah, of COURSEEEEEE you have a skill to boost your summons EVEN MORE. Sung Jin-Woo can now project his pure chadness into his summons. Its so hilarious how these people ALWAYS arrive late to the scene, like holy shit you all are USELESS. It doesn't matter if tension is being built with the MP consumption thing since Jin-Woo has FUCKING POTIONS!!!!!!!!!! This entire episode is one collage of masturbatory sakuga to elevate our DISGUSTING self-insert main character even more. Awful. I was expecting Cha-Hae to help Jin-Woo and defeat the orc dude together but nah, that's way too elaborate for this author; plus, he needs to impress the huge ass huge booba blonde waifu self insert. I'm going insane. "Information about hunter Sung Jin-Woo is supersecret. Please don't say anything" yea bro that'll for sure work. The battle choreography was also boring, that scene where it was an overall shot of the arena with orcs fighting vs the shades was pathetic. muh animation!!!!

Who even feels the smallest tinge of stakes or fun in this? It's so obvious that Jin-Woo will stomp the shit out of this orc dude because the formula of this show is incredibly generic and predictable.

low budget looking, and bad animation and camera work. also still no expression on the characters faces making them npc like.
-animation is fine but camera work is horrible.
ex.
-in the scene where the group leader was running at the head orc it barely show he is running at him and just shows that he is paused there. also the camera angle was pointing to his front. this scene should have showed him running from the side view and have a more effect of him desperately running towards the orc as there is distance. than when the orc uses the gravity it should have the camera pan to the leaders face with the freeze grey out effect. and when the camera pans back out it should show him floating in the air. than you can continue to the up and down smash part.

- another scene would be during jinwoos summoning. man they make it so bad. the close up doesnt do it justice on how many he has and also doesnt give off the kingly vibe. it feels more like a rag tag gang than a army ruler. in this scene i would have had the camera lower on the floor with a bug eye view and a wider shot of him and his army. also another shot would be top down to give the room a huge feel and how many actual orcs there are. considering the studio is already incorporating cgi models to create crowds this shouldnt be a problem for the scene so its a big disappointment they didnt try to emphasize how grand and large the dungeon room was.

-also the fight with the dragon summon felt a bit lame. should have just made one large dragon like in the actual manhwa. i know anime deviate from the source all the time but man this is pathetic.

-finally the expressions my god the anime studio has trouble with expressions. its so boring and they dont fit the scene. literally they walk in on the dungeon room and see all the orcs but their faces are all the same and calm like wtf they should be fear and depressed but instead its like they are on a walk to the dog park geeez. and when they do, do the expressions its like only holds for 1 scene and than back to the background. honestly expressions have been one of the most problematic for this anime.

ruins the feel of the moment for each scenes.

overall i would give anime a 2-3 stars and the manhwa a 7-9 stars.

japan anime has been following a downward trend of making everything feel the same. push out as many animes as possible which ruins the quality of story and animation. majority of new anime while there are some that are indeed good, fresh, and different, so not saying all.

@EvilJuju That still doesn't translate into a 1/10. That's just petty whining. Sure, it's your standard OP protagonist shit, but it's one of the animes with the best action sequences of all time. No, you don't even get to debate that.

This is pure satisfaction and definitely my favorite episode of the series so far. Watching a bunch of A-rank and S-rank hunters just stand there, unable to lift a finger, while Jinwoo has the time of his life facing the strongest foe we’ve seen yet was incredible. And getting escorted by the Hunter Association like he’s the most important person ever like that’s what we’ve been waiting for. And on top of that, we got some kind of information from what we can now call 'Fang' Before dying mentioning receiving a command to kill all humans before arriving in this world just like boss from the red gate.

I just couldn't catch my breath this episode at all. They definitely cooked incredible this time.

This is what people hyped up? Every combat scene feels the exact same, to the point I thought they reused animation from the ice elf fight.

The boss had a monologue about opposing the voice in his head then I guess the studio forgot about it and made him use fire attacks, then forgot to add sound effects to them.

Jin woo ruins the whole show.
Caveman draw anime girl on cave, Caveman happy. Cityman angry at cave drawing, Caveman throw club at Cityman.

And of course you're a woman and you even had the nerve to rate Oshi No Ko a 1/10. Thinks it's all about her. No ability to discern the target audience. No ability to judge the work by its own merits or how well it appeals to them. And somehow, Frieren is a 2. Shitlibs. They disgust me.

@EvilJuju Yeah. Last episode was a bit cooler since we got to see the party fend for themselves without Jin-Woo's help... at least for a bit. I was legit hopeful, but the author needed to idolize his self-insert MC even more. If it were a hard-earned victory I might have rated the episode higher.

Man, this episode was something else! A-1’s been nailing it off with this adaption and from the moment I saw the list of staff working on this particular episode, I knew this was going to be up there. Absolute movie visuals throughout the entire fight, we’re absolutely blessed of this franchise gets the 5 season treatment that rumours are suggesting!

Cha Hae-in’s part wasn’t needed after all. I was kind of looking forward to what she could do with that pickaxe lmao, but leave it to our MC for just bulldozing through the entire dungeon by himself. “Bad history with giants” - no one would assume that when he fought that way, lol. Elite level warrior under the ranks now, oof, he could take on so many more enemies. Something about his arrogance is just spot on. Hopefully, it won’t come to bite him in the end with the game system going bonkers or something though.

Next episode title sounds interesting, I’m surprised the combat team didn’t hear about a newly declared S-rank hunter before heading off, you’d imagine they’d have some kind of intel network everywhere.
@_MushiRock11_ It hasn't been made official yet. Still under wraps, but I swear there were enough witnesses that day something should have leaked through the Hunter Grapevine.

MC finally revealed his prowess to some characters. nice!
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Absolutely amazing episode...by far the best one in the series to date.

Sung Jinwoo was certainly OP, but not so much that it's not like he was stupidly stronger than the high orcs. It still took 4-5 of his knights to beat one high orc, leaving roughly 2 knights left over for every orc opponent. He would have absolutely lost badly from being overwhelmed by the sheer number of stronger foes, and running out of mana needed to resummon his defeated knights.. He played it smart, using a simple potion to restore his mana to full, which allowed him to summon the stronger defeated high orcs, so they can now 1v1 the other high remaining high orcs...And finally, the fact that he got under the high orc boss's skin, making him foolish enough to wipe out the whole field with that dragon breath, indiscriminately killing even his own men that were still standing. He was a defenseless mage after being restrained by that chain at that point, with no one left to fight for him. The high orc boss's hubris is what ultimately led to his downfall...that, and being a bad matchup with Sung Jinwoo's set of skills and fighting smart like a pro-gamer would do, by analyzing the fight as it progressed and adapting to the changes as needed like saving his three sorcerer summons for last, as they likely required more mana to use, in order to turn the tide of the battle.

Unlike many other series that started strong with a lot of hype or popularity, this animated series began airing after the webtoon comic already ended. And because of that, I can guarantee that this series will not be ending with like so many other series ended on a whimper (JJK, looking at you), whichever season number this animated series will eventually end at (it's a fairly long series). It was a slow start from season one setting up the characters and world, and it was called an action slop-fest because of that. But all the hype was building up to this very moment, of his eventual new S-rank reveal to the public. They totally delivered on the all the promise of hyped up killer action series, with the crashing of multiple pirate sites from the number of people trying to watch it to prove it.

Next week, it's going to be really good. Sung Jinwoo can finally take his rightful place in the world at the 10th S-rank, no longer needing to hide in the shadows as he was first setting up a solid foundation.

WTF, A1 Pictures? Nah bro, it's gotta be S1 Pictures from now on. And that Sawano soundtrack? 10/10

This episode was the S-Rank reveal to the hunters, and the next episode will be to the public. The story will take off from here on because this wasn't even a "big" storyline moment, just another dungeon run of the many dungeon runs that will take place and have taken place. But it's crazy how the production value can elevate a normal episode to such a height anyway.

And did I mention the animation yet??? O_O

@ryzxgum Nah. Jobless Reincarnation last cour, or Konosuba S3, now, that's boring :D Solo Leveling is pretty much "you get what you paid for" as in "you get what you would bloody well expect." It's a trash plot for a trash anime but it's not like the trash plot takes up a lot of time, unlike some of the others where said trash plot is the whole show.

This is where we return to season one's fluidity and scope of animation.
Glad to see it back. Glad to see their team be back.

Whether or not the actual source material permits the same level of action as the initial season. Remains to be seen.

However, here, they had a shot to showcase their efforts.
And, they did not let it pass them up.

This was the best episode thus far in season two.

Probably the best anime to just turn off your brain and watch I've ever seen, though part of the appeal was him being secretly powerful. If he's already the strongest around only 6 episodes into season 2 this might just become a meatriding compilation for the rest of the series, I hope someone (another hunter would be nice) humbles him a little bit.

@ryzxgum Nope, I didn't, and that was kinda my point. If a plot is borderline passable and doesn't outright annoy me, I'm fine. When the plot goes to the asinine levels of the last installment of Jobless and consumes the show, I'm not fine.

By the way, who's that silly chaebol at the end of the episode? Are we supposed to feel scared?! ;D

@Love_And_Forward the plot is straight-up uninteresting 100% of the time, which is not fine but like i said, luckily the visuals save it. it's no better than the worst of the worst otherwise.

@ryzxgum I think we're basically arguing over nothing, so let's leave it at that. Yeah, we both agree the plot sucks, but it's saved by the visuals. My only difference might be it doesn't annoy me a whole lot, if there's even a difference.
