You see, the moment things kind of got stiff with Chinatsu, we see Hina jumping into the picture. That’s really how this series goes tbh, I mean it’s kinda lowkey at this point, but it’d become a recurring thing going forward. Anyway, the fireworks festival has been connecting hearts since ages in the world of anime, so can’t blame Hina when she invited Taiki into one, though hey, he’s not getting the hints, but yeah, rest assured, things would not go down for Hina for that reason, at least. As I mean, she's already there, in a yukata, no more.

Now yeah, in before these two get seen by everyone, for obvious reasons lol.

With summer vacation coming up you knew the inevitable Natsumatsuri was coming lol and the lead up to it didn’t disappoint! Chinatsu been dominating the last few weeks, about damn time we got a lil Hina come back!

The summer festival being the same event that kicked off she and Taiki friendship and her crush on him is really cute. Taiki is one of those dudes who’s just genuinely thoughtful and sweet and that’s why all these girls keep falling for him, lol. Like cmon man you can’t just notice small details like Hina craving the candy apples and not expect her to fall for you 😂 I just wish she would’ve been more direct in asking him out on a proper date to the festival. The whole misunderstanding with him trying to get others to join them was hilarious. S/O Kyou for as usual being best wing man and ensuring Hina gets some alone time with Taiki!

When Chinatsu said she was going as well I was lowkey worried about Taiki standing up Hina or ending up with Chinatsu instead.. but looks like they’ll at least get a decent amount of time together! I’m sure we’ll get some sort of drama with Chinatsu next week, but enjoying this Hina victory for rn lol. Taiki reaction when seeing her in Yukata was mine as well, she’s absolutely gorgeous. Wow. Maybe now he’ll at least realise his best friend is a proper 10 👌

The way Hina tried gassing Taiki up to ask Chinatsu to be his date to the festival was great too. That’s true love. Wanting the person you love to be happy, even if that’s not with you. Another reason why Hina deserves the world!

Great episode! Got some confidence building for Taiki on the court and the date off it.

Honestly at this point I think I've fallen for Hina. It was nice seeing their original meeting and the festival looks to be a good place for the romance and misunderstandings to heat up. Though I'm kinda rooting for Hina now I know it is unfortunately futile as main girl (almost) always wins.

Once again Kyou being the best wingman! First the aquarium and now the fireworks festival by being "ill"? What a good friend.

Yes they do. I hate that

As I presume Hina will lose, I will not be able to rate this show as highly as I would if she could win.

I am this close to dropping this series. I don't like Taiki, the stereotypical dense guy who has a crush on someone else. I like everyone but the MC, lol. He has nothing going for him. He is nice and seemingly likable, but I feel like that doesn't distinguish him from other people. Kyo seems to be much smarter and considerate. Why do women like the MC? Gosh!

The women in this show are likeable, and I think I get their POV. But the MC single-handedly ruins the show for me. Moving forward, I hope he realizes the value of people around him apart from "Chinatsu-senpai."

@CarbonMD I hate the concept of shows in which pairings are set in stone rather than those that develop them organically through character interactions. It seems so forced. I don't understand how this anime is so highly rated.

I still hope Taiki is going to qualify for the nationals. He learned a new technique to give better shots:)

His relationship with Chinatsu is starting to improve, since they were alone more. The festival outing was a success:)

One thing that I think is a bit ridiculous about this show, is Taiki not having any romantic feelings for Hina prior to all this. A bit too difficult to believe IMO lol. I suppose our boy falls under certain writing tropes though...

Imo what makes this triangle a hard watch is that Hina is clearly the crowd fav and for good reason, she's a vibe, but also at the same time the female lead Chinatsu is arguably as likeable, it would've been so much easier to pick sides if she was an insufferable character.

Also Kyou is a real one for ducking the fireworks to give Hina and our boy some alone time.

I really started off with high hopes for this anime, but it has mostly been disappointing and the writing is not that good.

The only enjoyable aspect are the athletic scenes, but they have tried to ruin that as well, with making Taiki loose his motivation and determination, which was really his one and only redeeming quality.

So much potential, but just another flop.

Now I am just hoping the basketball event does not turn out to be a loss, but the way things are going, they will probably make her lose and cry.

And Hina was right, the way he is acting around Chinatsu now is not like he acted before in earlier episodes, he looks and sounds pathetic.

This supposed "love triangle" is devoid of the most important thing, that is "love".

Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Hopefully Hyodo's blessing for underdogs will help Hina's chances as much as it will for Taiki's badminton, but dude's legit a real one for helping out a junior player of a rival school as much as he did.

Can only imagine how good that candy apple from the flashback tasted. It really is no wonder she fell for him.

God damn, this episode made me like Hina even more than ever! The flashback showing how she reacted to hearing candy apples being mentioned was as hilarious as it was adorable, but it was also where she and Taiki first got to know each other and their meeting in the past fireworks festival certainly cemented their friendship.

Now, though, Hina wanted to go alone with him and that was easier said than done. Thanks to Kyo being a proper bro by ditching Taiki with a fake fever, Hina got her wish to go to the fireworks with Taiki and the yukata that she chose to wear suits her perfectly. =)

On another note, it was nice to see more of Hyodo when Taiki tagged along with Haryu to the college badminton practice group earlier that same day. Hyodo might have a slightly intimidating exterior, but his advice towards Taiki improving his approach while playing was spot on. Just like Hyodo, I do love to root for the underdog to win and Taiki easily fits into that category currently.

@Stormy_77 He never had feelings for her. He's something like a smart wing-man who happened to know who's in love with who right away.

@Embient I mean it's very obvious that hina had a crush on taiki (even hina's bff noticed that) and taiki had a crush on chinatsu but doesn't change the fact that he's good wingman

Can't be a romance anime without the quintessential fireworks/summer festival episode. That's like one of the rules that existed for as long as romcom anime have. Hina had a lot of courage to ask Taiki to go see the fireworks with her. But that dense Taiki thought it was a group invite. He couldn't fathom being invited by a girl either cause he still has insecurities about it or he doesn't view anyone except Chinatsu as a girl... Tho the ending of the episode implied that might change. I kinda hope it does. Kyo was a wingman once again.

Finally a flashback. Wait, Hina didn't talk to Taiki before middle school? I thought they were childhood friends? I guess middle school is childhood for them... Anyway, it's good to see that you can tell the exact moment Hina fell for Taiki. Even though she didn't realize it at the time. And she's still in denial although her friends already know it. If only they could see the bigger picture.

The small section where Taiki went to a college practice was good too. I like how Hyodo is also an underdog appreciator.

Loved this episode. I wonder if anything fateful will happen on Hina and Taiki's date. Maybe Chinatsu will see the two and get another misunderstanding. Let's see what happens.

@0451 It was never stated they were childhood friends, people just make shit up (like the guy saying Kyo has feelings for Hina). And why would Taiki see this as asking him out when he's been friends with her for years and she showed no sings of it changing? Because she asked him to cheer her on? Lmao

I still remember Taiki saying that he, Kyo and Hina were childhood friends at some point. Maybe he was just talking about Kyo and I'm misremembering or the subs were bad.

I guess that makes some sense. But it’s still true that Taiki is oblivious to every girl except Chinatsu. He also had self-esteem issues so he might never consider a girl being into him let alone someone like Hina who's a top gymnast. I bet he'd still act dumb whenever she does end up confessing to him. Unless something else happens before then of course.

I was a bit confused with a scene where Hina wore yukata in a festival. I did not notice the transition that showed Taiki and Hina were in middle school. I paused the end of the episode for a moment and took a time to comprehend the flow of the plot. Nevertheless, it is great to see Hina moves to create special time fo her and Taiki.

@Phantrung7775_A Not this Manga. I mean obviously these 2 will go through a bunch of stuff that brings them close later on. But as of now, I think of this as purely one-sided which makes me think that this guy should give up already. Focus on his sports and hang out with his friends which should probably hold way more value than he gives them.

It's always her saying some encouraging words and giving him a new perspective. Geez, if my crush cared about my problems obviously I'd like them more. I don't think what she says is that insightful. All the main characters are flat and 1 dimensional.
