I never post on MAL about my opinions, but this was honestly one of the most heartbreaking episodes I have ever watched, and the only way I can cope with what I just saw is to post. I thought that this anime would be mostly comedic and action-packed, but this episode truly hit me in the face with a speeding truck. I'm pretty sure my jaw dropped during the entire flashback scene and I couldn't even process what I had just watched. The music also gave me the biggest shivers ever.

Absolute cinema

I knew it was coming from reading the manga but the animation, voice acting and the sound just makes it hit that much harder. When the daughter said "thank you for all you do" that felt like a punch to my heart. 10/10

Good episode, shows that Dandadan can do episodes range beyond just slapstick comedy. Some people are being weird about the episode judging the quality of it on a barometer if it made them cry or not. That doesn't matter. If it did that was just bonus, if not all good all the same. The situation was just a sad setup to help build some origin on Aira and that part was executed well with the music and animation being shown to elevated the scene beyond the manga taking advantage of the medium at hand. A mother's material strength and will is a classic story beat, there was no need for a super elaborated build up beyond a single self contained episode that would have been needlessly dragged out otherwise.

usually I've just gotten teary eyed if things hit emotionally, but this episode was the first time I've actually outright cried because of an anime/movie/tv/etc.

so yeah high praise, absolutely stellar episode

I never write on forums, but my god. This was an absolute masterpiece. The desperate first person chase was animated so well, the beauty of the scene where acrosilky does a pirouette amongst the stars and her toes lightly touch the water, I started crying from that moment, because it reflects how gentle and fragile her soul is, in the grander scheme of things, it makes you think again about the core of every “evil” spirit we encounter. The ending was beautiful and again made me ball my eyes out. Peak.

Never thought an anime would make me cry like this. I’ve teared up before, but this episode hit so hard I just lost it when Aira hugged the mother. It was raw, real, and absolutely emotional.

This is easily in my top 2 episodes ever, right behind "Parent and Child" from Re:Zero. Guess I have a thing for stories about a parent’s love. lol.

Episode 7 was so emotional, like the series really grew from 5 an onwards. I watched the first 3-4 ep then had a break until now, but Like the use of classic music and the general music + animation, + the storytelling is amazing. hope it keeps up, if so maybe Mappa can learn a thing or two

Excellent episode, one or the best episode of the series
I love that some anime make a change/focus towards the opposite of what the series itself is, lots of laughter, random things, insults, etc. to something darker, tragic, sad, etc. This adds more nuances and I love it.
Clap Clap Clap for the person who directed this episode because the way (the staging) in which they show the background of the spirit, the music, animation, etc. was Wonderful

Episode 5 is still my favorite one but man...this was emotional rollercoaster.
I'm so glad that this part of manga got the whole episode to shine and anime probably did it better.

Dandadan is delivering constantly.

What a masterclass of a masterpiece of an episode!

The emotional build up was done well here ranging from scene to scene and the ost was melancholic to hear.

Anyways, an easy 9/10 of this fabulous of an episode!

Aira died!? And Turbo Granny confirmed there was nothing that could be done?! I felt the plot turn heavy at that moment and fortunately our duo refused to give up.

Acrobatic demon offered to help and turned out to be Aira’s real mother and not just some weird mom fetish monster!? That tragic backstory to go with it was sad. She was just a hardworking mother who wanted to provide for her kid. Her strong love turned herself into a demon. While she always watched after her daughter, waiting for her to recognize and acknowledge her as mommy, she lost control of her emotions and ended up hurting and killing her.

She started off as a bully that I didn’t like and ended up as a character I could sympathize with. Hopefully there’s character development on her part moving forward.

I’m glad that Aira’s mother got saved at the end. The void was not suited for her.

10/10 episode

This was smooth animation and nice use of direction and music. Nicely done.

I cried a lot from this. I even right away felt bad for Aira being dead since while she was kind of being a bit mean and narcissistic she never seemed like a bad person and she was caught up in things not really getting a choice. It's just sad that mother struggling like that and getting attacked and her daughter taken away over money. The dance we saw i felt was a sort of dance of mourning dedicated to her daughter. It's sweet Aira comforted Silky even though she seemingly knows it's not her mom maybe since she sympathized with her and related her with her mom and her own loneliness.
