| ABSOLUTE CINEMA. Like, actually, a masterpiece. I haven't cried this much watching anime since I watched A Silent Voice. The whole story felt so painfully relatable as someone who does creative work as a hobby aand in the future, as a career. That last scene of Fujino reminiscing of her time with Kyomoto actually broke me so hard, I was crying like I lost a family mermber or something 😭 I truly believe this is one of the best adaptations of anything ever. I read the manga and while i did think it was amazing then and still got me emotional, this movie in my opinion conveys the feelings of the original story by Fujimoto even BETTER, all because the animation, voice acting, and directing gave this story even more life than it already had. 10/10 no complaints, absolutely masterful adaptation from an already amazing manga. |

We're currently living in a golden age of anime and we don't even know it until years or even decades have passed and we "look back" into this era, only then we'll realized the truth.
| @phantomfandom this is the best year of anime so far and every next year will be the best as well, because you get access to all the future animes and all the past animes. It's like that with everything. So people who say "durr I wish I was born in 70's to enjoy the music of those times" - just open spotiy or whatever and listen, you dumbass. |
| Visually kind of interesting but the story is nothing special, just like the source material. I just hope it does well so we get a Sayonara Eri and Fire Punch adaptation. |
| The story of two budding manga artists brought to animation. I always love when I can tell the author is writing from his field of expertise, and that was definitely in full swing here. The animation for Fujino's short strips was phenomenal and the growing bond between her and Kyomoto was presented well. That alternate outcome sequence was cool, but it does make the sadness hit harder since it's just a what if. Another excellent work by Fujimoto that resonates deeply! |

| when it turned into a slideshow and the music was loud so I knew this was an emotional scene, I clapped. aside that it was really well done. it was a great representation of fujimoto's art. the animation was great. |

| Don't cry Fujino, but "look back" instead to the days spent together and smile! You gave purpose, motivation and joy to an other life and got the same things in return. I don't remember the last time I gave 10/10 to anime but this little movie deserves it. |

| CRIED SO MUCH. I read its one shot way back 2021, but I didn't remember everything—just that it left a special place in my heart and made me feel so emotional so I've just finished watching the movie and I just couldn’t stop crying. I remember feeling heartbroken reading the manga.. with this anime adaptation… my heart sht… it hit so differently. this was so very realistic and true to real life and yet not boring. for me, this is like tatsuki fujimoto expressing his two conflicted sides of how he hates and loves drawing shown by fujino (fuji taken from fujimoto) and kyomoto (taken from the second half of his name) I JUST WISH THIS HAD AIRED IN MY COUNTRY TOO. I WOULD'VE WATCHED IT IMMEDIATELY. I've been waiting for this for so long because they didn't show it in a cinema near me "Why do you draw, Fujino?" line and those final scenes were just aaaaa… absolutely heart-wrenching! |

| I liked the animation style!! and the music too!! The plot, with a bit more development, could be a great film, but this medium length film has clear the ideas, and as good!!! It's been faithful to the one-shot! enjoy!! kekeke |
| i'm surprised by how much I liked this one. I don't draw at all but I'm close to those that do. I can see this being a must watch for anyone who has a passion for drawing or trying to develop a skill. I still have to sit on this one for a while before I judge it though. |

| The only Fujimoto work I've seen is Chainsaw Man, but even from that I've always loved how he draws his characters, his particular art style is really charming and so too is this movie. The first thing that came to vision is, of course, the iconic Fujimoto art style but in a far more vibrant illustration, the colours and details in this 1-hour movie were spectacular, with the fluid animation in so many scenes. It portrays the innocence of a childhood life so vividly. From there the gradual shift to a monotonous color scheme as well as the depiction of more stillness in each scene as the story progresses are seamless but never fail to make the impact that the change has transpired. The story was lovely, It's a wonder how Fujino's entire motivation to keep drawing throughout the year is to one-up and maintain her superiority over Kyomoto's amazing artwork. It is only when she's in her last year of Grade/elementary school that she has given up. Only to once again have her passion reignited after being acknowledged by the sole individual that she has considered to be a rival. Their childhood and teenagehood were a life full of laughter and close-knit friendship. With them together their creations are better than if they were independent work. Fujino's character designs and plot have now merged with Kyomoto's glamorous background details. However all good things must come to an end, as they grow up, their path diverges from one another. A crossroad where one aspires to improve her art in an art school and the other chases her passion in manga serialization. Here is where the incident came to unfold. I was informed that the one-shot manga was published on the 2nd year anniversary date of Kyoto Animation's arson attack and the story almost literally depicted that terroristic incident. A sole mentally unstable man who accused the art students of plagiarizing his works and going on a killing spree. Many lives lost and many more lives are affected by such an infinitely trivial issue. The beauty of this whole story is not to have it end on a happy note or on a completely depressing ending but to show that life goes on. As much as Fujino would come to blame herself for being the ultimate cause of Kyomoto's death, she could not and should not reject that the times they've spent together is the defining happiness in their life growing up as a pair of drawing buddies. And as though a spirit of Kyomoto transcended the dimensional plane between life and death. Just as how Fujimoto brought Kyomoto out of her room with the 4-panel manga strip, another 4-panel manga strip flew towards Fujimoto to bring her out of her grief-stricken mind. A 4-panel manga strip that she now hangs in front of her setup as a signature of her friendship and a symbol to reflect on her dearest friend, where the memories will echo into the future becoming her source of motivation. |

| To be honest, the story is nothing special, yes, but the thing they wanted to deliver from it, it's just simply beautiful. Need to appreciate more for the beautiful OST too. Not only a definition of love letter to artists, but for everyone who has passion in any creative works. Great adaptation. |

| The first time I even heard about this movie was through a random youtube short of the scene where Fujino saves Kyomoto's life by kicking down the guy with the pickaxe. That scene alone had me intrigued enough to watch the movie when I later saw that it was available on amazon prime. Considering how that scene was the sole reason I got into this anime in the first place, I'm kinda disappoined to see it was only a "what if" scenario which didn't really make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things... that minor complaint aside, this was truly a fantastic story and wonderful movie!! Just kinda wish there was more to that alternate reality scene than what we got... regardless, it's still horrorfying to imagine how that scene must have actually played out since Fujino wasn't there to save the day in reality 😳😢 |

Really great movie. I loved and appreciate every aspect of it, but sadly could not get emotional, guess I have a heart of stone hehe. 9.5/10 for me, don't know whether to give it a 9 or 10 but it was beautiful. Love the little Goku cameo around the 9 minute mark :) |

| Fujino Ayumu is a 4-panel mangaka. Oh, she's a bragger, and thinks she's great. She mocks Kyomoto who doesn't come to school. But Kyomoto's drawing is like a reality slap to Ayumu. It's a good trait that she wants to become better, but a bad trait that she doesn't want others to be better than her. Her obsession with bettering her drawing has continued from her 4th std to 6th std, making her grades drop. Despite the practice, she feels burnt out, so she quits. After graduation, Ayumu meets Kyomoto for the first time. Kyomoto admits of being a fan of Ayumu since 3rd std. Ever since then, both have collaborated on couple of mangas. They part ways at the age of 17. Damn, Kyomoto died in the attack at her University. Their last work together, Shark Kick, was on hiatus, and Ayumu decided to do it alone. |
