Was not at all expecting that shot of Kana looking like dead Ai, between that and Goro's body whoever directed this episode was really in the horror mood.

Ruby talking about Goro like that was sad and mildly funny, now I'm just dreading later seasons.

Another Great episode.

We start off with a light hearted scene with gorou and sarinas older life. I almost sometimes forget where aqua and ruby come from.
Memcho preps and strategizes with her friend over the video shooting. Everyone arrives at the airport. Kanas happiness turns 180 seeing akane there and on top of that ruby is starting to call her big sis with marriage proposals which is hillarious and also threatening Kanas position of being favorite. xD

The crew arrives at Aquas old town which is also famous for a diety, i think somehow the story of the diety will tie up with the story. The group later splits for shooting while aqua and akane visiting Aquas old memories and places. Aquas hospital apparently have no clue where goro went so the body was never found .Then aqua visiting his death site and his home reminiscing his previous life. His grandma was really wholesome and loving but apparently grandpa had some issues with him over goros mothers death which was unfortunate. Akane definitely is absorbing all this info for future processing.
Finally his memory with sarina. She had no one to look after her not even her parents came for her which was a really sad state of affairs. my heart goes out to her and only goro was there as her support. Even until her last breath she passed Ai's memento to him as a sign of love, confessing her own feelings to him and maybe if she was reborn she would be together with him i suppose. Man it was really touching. Their relationship was so pure.
Then we see the crow girl comment on how the two of them without moms are given a mom in the guise of ai who gave birth to soulless children? i didnt get the context about the soulless there tbh.
We move on to the idol video shooting, memchos friend is really amazing with her work (the way she made kana bring out her cuteness by the look at your crush technique was just too good xD)
Miyako is apparently spending a butt load of money for this setup. Best girl all day.
Kana shows off her dress to aqua, but incomes her biggest fan Akane who will not settle for perfection on her idol and rival. I swear the dedication is a little scary and adorable, love how she dotes on kana. Its refreshing seeing them both gel around together and bond in a wholesome way. Unlike their fans *cough*

Anyways Akane and aqua discuss Kana and her idol career, akane suggest aqua to not go out on dates anymore since its dangerous which is understandable. Honestly didnt have to show the ai-kana resemblance scene to paint the picture man, that was reliving another nightmare. But poor kana cant catch a break again, will this affect her future relationship with aqua. i hope not cause it will really devastate her.

The shooting for kana and ruby finally end cause memcho will overtime because of her being a "minor" pfft. poor mem. xD
Akane and ruby go for a walk when a crow (not surprised) takes of with her stuff. While chasing Ruby talks about her past life as well as well as bout her crush/love/inspiration & the reason why she wants to be an idol. Apparently shes waiting to turn 16 to make a move on him. Interesting *cough*
Also fun for thought imagine if akane and ruby knew the person they both love is the same guy xD and now include kana in it too. Quite the Love square we have huh lmao
Anyways all the wholesome and fun thoughts go poof when the crow leads them to the cave where Ruby finds the body of her beloved she was just talking about and voila we see rubys Black star or dark purple star (i love how they drew and animated it). Imagine so many emotions going through her brain rn. Poor ruby. Now i know why they named this episode "REUNION" kinda fits but its so fucked up.

Final episode next week. Cant wait to see how they end this season.

Ain't no way they actually named this episode "Reunion." That is just messed up.

Kana is suffering from success by being so cute by turning Akane and Aqua into tsunderes. There really is something as being too kawaii.

I'd be really surprised if Akane doesn't find out next episode. Either she'll ask directly by linking the relation with the hospital, Ruby will shout his name, or they'll look at the name tag underneath the pendant to verify his identity (Akane probably won't to touch it cuz it's a corpse, but I think Ruby will for sure look at it, and Akane will sneak a peak).

Also, really interesting that both Ruby and Aqua's lights have extinguished from their eyes. It's ironic how they'll react totally different to it happening tho. I wonder if it will be the same even that brings their stars back.

This episode it all of the emotions that you can have, from humour, suspense and then end it with a brutal cliffhanger.

The trip itself was pretty fun to watch, especially how Mem-Cho mentioned how she can work longer than the others since she's "18" years old. That must've pained her to say that, the poor girl! XD

As for Ruby and Aqua, they have come back to the same place where they met their end in their previous life before being reborn to who they are now. We got more insight of Aqua's previous life as Gorou Amamiya, showcasing how tough his own upbringing was, as well as seeing the derelict remains of his grandparent's home while having Akane tag along with him.

Ruby also opened up to Akane a lot, including speaking about her crush, where she was mainly referring to her previous life and how she developed a big crush on Amamiya. That was where things went into a dark direction as they went after a crow who stole their hotel key, which led the pair to a cave behind a small shrine. In there, they discovered the remains of Gorou Amamiya, which not only left Akane shocked, but it severely hit Ruby hard to see her own crush dead. To make it more brutal, they even tweaked the ED animation, where we get to see what the crow was holding in its beak, which was the very same Ai pendant charm that Sarina gave to Amamiya back then.

I highly look forward to seeing what the final episode will have on offer. Since she appeared in this episode again, hopefully we'll get more appearances of the crow girl and her interesting cryptic speeches. For now, my main interest is to see what Akane and Ruby will do next upon the gruesome discovery that they found.

HOLY SH*T THIS IS F*CKING PEAK, didn't expect them to show it to RUBY!! I mean I half expected them to find it but I thought Aqua was going to do it first, sad backstory of ruby simping over a guy who (would be if he was still alive) 46 years older than her, I think I got scared when Ruby pulled the "I'm finally 16!" line, bro im glad he died and turned into aqua tbh, if not messed up shit would've gone down

HOPE SO! if not I will be mad on the author!

Akane talk with Aqua about Arima being an idol who cannot date is sneaky :D love it!

we finally know who is that girl from OP - Anemone, Monemone, but it is a crazy name.. no one would be named like that :D

but still who is that strange little girl whit white hair ?!?!?!?!?!?!?! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!?!?!?

I liked seeing new B Komachi and Miyako again….but what’s with the romance plot?

I understand the whole childhood crushes thing, even I’ve had them. But you have to move on eventually.

Goro was I think in his 30s when Sarina was still a child, it was obvious they weren’t getting together. And no I’m not for Ruby getting with Aqua bc incest is incest.

they added the crow having the pendant of Ai on this episode right? i dont remember it being there before and i cant go back to each ED to look it up
@Mikarin_Enjoyer Chapter 77 is where this happened and the reveal was the crow landing right next to Gorou's left arm where the gift from Sarina is still in his name badge holder.

Ok, ok...Ruby x Sensei is weird and I have spoilers from the manga BUT...this episode was too good to think about it now xD

Seriously, the best episode so far, sad and slightly melancholic but the humor was also great, I just flowed through all the dialogues and absorbed this calming atmosphere. I'm not a big fan of Aqua's character but in this episode he was really cool and it was nice to watch. I'm really intrigued by this little weird girl who was sitting in a tree, it would be interesting if with these normal things like the whole idol/acting industry and the less normal ones like revenge, we got some paranormal plot, I mean they developed the whole reincarnation thing and added some interesting "magic" I know that not everyone would like such a strange mix but imo it would fit here, as if we had this whole "normal plot" built and some paranormal things slowly started to get involved in it.

Cliffhanger... it was built a bit too perfidiously, I mean Ruby talks about sensei and suddenly finds his skeleton BUT... still my jaw dropped.

If they don't do something stupid in the last episode, I'll consider this season much better than the first.

Good god, that was emotionally exhausting. It's very interesting how quickly we are moving to some of the revelations (I would not have expected Ruby to already know that Amamiya died years ago). The way the two stories (of the past and present) are coming together is really fantastic, a lot of it is Oshi no Ko at its best.

Honestly I'd say that for this whole episode - we got some of everything. We got cute idol stuff, we got murder mystery stuff, we got great screen time with every waifu (all the waifu warriors should be happy, I know I certainly am as an Akane stan), and there is a lot of that murder mystery/psychological thriller stuff also going on, WITH a lot of forward plot movement as well. Great characterization as well (especially for Amamiya, who has always been a bit of a cipher until this).

Great episode. Looking forward to where the finale next week will leave things.

P.S.: Really curious about that girl who was giving the narration about Aqua and Ruby's past and present lives. Please feel free to reply to me about it in spoilers :)

In the end, Akane went on a trip with the others, and it was fun to see her hide her fanaticism for Kana, taking pictures of her or fixing her outfit, although she didn't fully praise her since they are rivals in a way.

I won't deny that it felt a little strange to remember that before Sarina was reincarnated into Ruby, she already had a crush on Gorou. The age difference made it strange enough, but now that Gorou is Aqua, her brother, it's even more complicated. Still, it doesn't take away the emotional impact of seeing Ruby devastated after finding the body of Gorou, the person she loved. It's possible that she could also follow a path of revenge, just like Aqua.

It's strange that Gorou's body was hidden. Maybe the killer hid it, but I hope that's explained. Also, the white-haired girl could be the goddess Aqua was referring to, and based on what she said, it seemed like Ai's children were stillborn?, that's why Gorou and Sarina were reincarnated as them? I'm not sure if I misunderstood or overanalyzed, but it's amazing when you consider their backstories: having either lost their mothers or never having one (Aqua has lost a mother for the second time).

I don't think Ruby understands their age gap would be a looot bigger since she was reborn. How awful that she had to see his lack of guts after spilling her guts about how much she can't wait to see him again. Surely they are going to report the body after they calm some, so I am curious to see how Aqua will react to his sister finding his own corpse. And I expect this will cause trouble for their already short-on-time shoot; who could work after seeing that.

All around, absolutely amazing story.

I think this series may have the best (or worst only because of the week wait in between) cliffhangers from any series I've watched so far and this episode has one of the best.

The build up was great with Akane first interacting with Aqua while he explored familiar areas and then later on going with Ruby as they both chased after a crow that took their key. I wonder if Akane will connect the pieces in regards to what Aqua had told her about looking for a dead "pet" being the corpse of the doctor he searched for also being the same person that Ruby had a crush with which is also the same person whose house Aqua and Akane visited. Even if Akane makes the connection that they're the same person I doubt (at least for now) that she will then make the connection that the deceased doctor was reincarnated as Aqua. On that note I think Ruby will be heartbroken since she thought the doctor was still alive but if she only knew that he was also reincarnated as she was... I hope that discovery is revealed someday although I don't know what kind of drama that may cause.
@Alfredo-Sauce errr.... A drama that breaks the whole fandom for 2 months straight perhaps?

We had a mostly chill episode this time, mostly… yeah wow that ending was something alright, I shoulda known someone would find Aqua’s past self’s body since they were back at that place but for Ruby and Akane to just stumble upon it like that is very cruel, I mean the crow clearly led them to it because I keep seeing mentions of a crow girl and they even mentioned a goddess earlier in the episode so I’m gonna go ahead and assume those two things may be related, I mean it’s not that crazy to believe since this show also features reincarnation lol. But yeah that was a bone chilling ending, after all that Ruby said about her Sensei and then she was met with that, they even went and added a cool new touch to the very end of the ED which surprised me, Doga Kobo you bastards lol, but I love you at the same time.

A lot of the episode was fun tho, I enjoyed the making of the music video which had many cute moments and also introduced that Anemone girl. Aqua and Akane’s outing was nice too, but at the same time had a touch of seriousness too with Aqua revealing his past at the place, I wonder if Akane has put anything together or not with that detective brain of hers, I wouldn’t be surprised honestly lol. And what little bit of Akane and Ruby we did get before disaster struck was really cute, if it wasn’t for coming across dead bodies they would have become best friends. And apparently next week’s episode is slightly delayed but I’ll take a few days over another week, excited to see how they end this season and hopefully with a 3rd season announcement.

The story has been so focused on Aqua's pov that I sometimes forget Ruby also remembers her past live and has her goals too.
I wonder if and when she will find out that her beloved doctor was also reincarnated.
I know she doesn't mind an age gap, but I hope being siblings is a good enough line to not cross.
Btw, I know the age of consent in Japan is 16, but still...The doctor had to be in his thirties. Calm down, girl.

They now found Gorou's body after a long time. Also, this episode answers why Ruby doesn't give a damn about Sarina's biological parents.

Aqua's trauma from Ai's death is deeper than we thought. He was already traumatised by her original mother's death due to childbirth.

The pace has obviously picked up a good amount now in the story and ... Having seen Aqua's star go out - obviously a little prematurely, Akane realized it immediately upon being explained the situation, and Ruby having a close encounter that revealed the truth to us the audience... that was already quite the event, I took it as "oh okay, I guess Ruby's getting the spotlight now, it's about time" but I did not expect ... this. not like this anyway. Sure I feel the introduction of the white haired crow girl has a bit of that Deus Ex Machina feeling to it, just arbitrary plot progression. I love the direction though perhaps not the exact nature of it, though then again, reincarnation and someone that's aware and who knows, I get this kind of sense of "arbiter" over the matter from her...
Anyway what I'm trying to get at is that Ruby's star dying is so very very different, a breaking of spirit in such a different direction. like... Aqua's spark, Aqua's "dark star" can be reignited simply him finding out the truth. Either because he gets the info he was seeking about Ai that he hadn't gotten since the director got smashed, or from Akane who realized his peace of mind is relying on believing a falsehood... but Ruby's... after her firm declaration of the Doc being her reason to live... and then finding him deceased... nothing short of the truth behind their former identities being revealed to each other is going to fix that, no? I'm not ready for emotional husk Ruby...

Akane of course keeps herself as best girl in my opinion because well... she's the one experiencing the truest selves of both Hoshino siblings and in one way or another is bound to be the key to the two, no? This show gets me so excited every single week... the only thing keeping me from reading the manga is because I wish to see the stellar work put into the adaptation with no prior knowledge...
