This shows issue is that it has far too many characters so it has to go on exposition dumps constantly.
And then they keep adding more...

Cry about it, it's important to build up characters so that you feel emotional impact once a milestone in their life is achieved.

Masayuki enters the tournament, that's a good way to market their tournament, free publicity and also the kids are having a field trip in Tempest, more diplomats, envoys and world leaders came to see Rimuru again as always lol

Pretty slow development again, we only get a bit of Masayuki "meeting" Rimuru at the very end.

@Shaiko66 As a LN reader I guarantee you that Tensura is pretty much the same since the beginning and I agree some eps could be managed to be easier to digest. In Tensura the action is merely consequence of the events and not the other way around.

I’m not expert on animation, however this season doesn’t require a high budget animation. At least characters design and scenes are consistent and they aren’t melting.

About the story, Tensura is known for having heavy dialogues and explanations so expect more over time. Personally I think there’s nothing boring about the story, everything catches my attention and interest.

why does every fantasy show that gives a "charisma" attribute just have the most spineless, boring character attached to it. it feels like a prerequisite to have people fawn over you is to be plain and boring as hell.

I think that another Rimuru's meeting with Yuki couldn't have been done worse. By two seasons they show us how evil character behind the scenes is Yuki and now they've done it as if nothing had happened. That soundtrack, dialogues, interactions between them in the episode 18 was so bad, looked more like tea party with kids... It hurted my eyes and ears.

A friend of mine keeps me in touch of what comes ever since I'm fed up 5 episodes before, just to keep up my interest. We aren't even experts on animation, but both of us getting the feeling that this is an disaster, but on the script-writer and director levels. They could have skipped the third of the first half's meetings because the same thing went over and over again, talked about the same thing thrice... THRICE with little to add to it. That could have been clamped down, to keep it tighter as the former season had that.

In writing and editing there's a fine line between build-up and temporization and the 3rd season just falls under the latter without keeping up the interest. While in novel you always have the next chapter until a conclusive point that could spark the interest enough for the next half a year until the next volume comes out, but in 24 minutes animation weekly, you have to keep it up or your watchers are dispersing away and the rating plummets. It is that simple and doesn't require any expertize, just experience and a keen eye on how other shows deliver.

As for the 3rd season, I fear, with this tempo they won't deliver the high end as that should come, because what comes, it sparks another bigger chains of event that's first half should have been the end of this, but so far it will end with the spark coming and keeping the audience in limbo until the next season coming who knows when.

Tempest is finally open to visitors for the festival, and Rimuru tending to high-profile visitors like King Blumund and King Gazel (in his tuxedo of all clothings) to fill in what has happened thus far. Even to Youm who has become a king in the newly established reform of Falmuth as Flamenace, with Mjurran joining has his legal wife, things back at home seem fine for the group, with Edmaris's son Edgar joining for the ride. In fact, Youm being king means that Rimuru can just let go of the repatriations, since they're already so related to one another. Even his visit to Yuuki in Engrassia to grief about Hinata, the former's attendant of Kagali is a new face to him, being someone interested in the archaeology of the ruins, exploring and selling goods as her pay.

Next, are the students that Rimuru once taught, and they've grown quite a fair bit alongside Tiss, to be invited to Tempest for the festival. But the expected one is the hero Masayuki and his party, though his party wants to bring trouble, Yuuki standing for Rimuru to make peace to all despite being a Demon Lord, they just want to prove that they can defeat him, so why not participate in the festival and make the truth be known in a tournament fight? Despite Masayuki's whims, the proposal is accepted, and whatever happens, will happen.

Getting to the good stuff now...

It was funny watching Rimuru all suited up, he had to do it to meet the important people. Good to see some old faces. Happy to see the students, Tiss sensei as well, been a while. The hero party meets Rimuru and oof, if Rimuru let Shion or Diablo handle them they'd a have a field day with them.

More meetings with dignitaries ensued for Rimuru. Rimuru went to Engrassia to get the students over for the grand festival. We saw the arrival of the Lighspeed Hero Masayuki. A tournament will be held with the participation of the Hero.

These meetings with Rimuru always serve to remind me how huge the world of Slime is. Yet Rimuru is always leaving people pleased or shocked by the capabilities of one slime. It's good to see Rimuru's students again, and Yuki's friendly disposition sure makes it easy to forget how much of a schemer he is.

This tournament has been built up quite a bit. It's definitely going to be interesting to see how it shakes out.

It seems that everything is going as planned for Rimuru, and there are great prospects for the future.

Youm has become the king of Falmenace and his reputation has grown tremendously. The kids along with their new teacher are coming to the festival as well.

And lastly we got the Lightspeed Hero with his party that really loves to glaze the shit out of this dude, and he barely speaks in this interaction.

It seems that the festival will be kicking off very soon!

Holy crap, in the 80's even Mr. Rodgers was more titillating than this deluge of words words words. about 10 minutes in I just skipped to the next episode. -1/10. Absolute trash. There's a few good episodes in this season but the rest is expository word salad that would be better done if the writer hadn't fell on his head as a baby.

I'm the only one who thinks this Masayuki character is problematically crazy! Because he's actually changing our perception of reality, and everyone worships him for nothing. I really think that's going to be problematic after a while.

Let's talk about the rhythm of this season
Half of the people commenting here are people who watch the episode when it comes out each week. For them/you, it must be unbearable to have an episode every week that tells a piece of the story, and it turns out it's world-building.
I'm currently watching this season and there's still one episode to go at the time of writing.
I think everything is perfect so far, the anime is slow, but frankly, I'd rather it be slow and explain and build as it goes along everything it needs to swing the festival than just make an episode that introduces you to the arena, the dungeon and the whole festival in one episode, that would be undrinkable and make no sense.

I find it extremely sad when people put comments like, “it's really crap this season” because the pace is slow. I assure you that if you'd given the season a little more time, and a few more episodes, before watching it, it would be much more gratifying. From my point of view, we've reached a level in the story where we're forced to do some world-building in order to be able to tell something coherent, because the character himself is far too important in the story to just throw in such a huge event without explanation.

That's all I had to say, it's great that we're taking 4 - 5 episodes to explain “why the festival”, instead of just throwing it out in 2 episodes!

It was so nice seeing Rimuru's kids again I'm excited for them to meet Hinata. Also, m'I the only one seriously annoyed with Masayuki's party members? I get that Rimuru's people brag about him too but they don't go disrespecting others unless provoked. Masayuki is a sweetie and a cutie but his members can go fuck themselves and get themselves fucking killed for all I fucking care.

Falmuth is now Falmenace, huh?

Aside from the other minor updates, and nothing exciting happened.
You see there's no need to wonder where your god is,
