Oh god what a wild ride of emotions (both good and bad) that was. Okay so of course we had to deal with some stalling both during the Big Mom scene at the beginning when she created Hera, and then later in the episode during Luffy's scene. But I was able to forgive that because the middle of the episode was still pretty good. I especially liked Killer's scene with Hawkins, mostly because of the color palette used.

However the last 5 minutes was more of the same aura bullshit that we keep having to deal with, complete with more flower petal symbolism that has been added to the ever-growing list of colored effects that Toei keeps using to make the fight on the rooftop seem cooler. I'm not saying that the animation wasn't great because it was, but did we really need so many aesthetic effects, sound effects and DBZ crap just for see Luffy hit Kaido with Advanced CoC?

What made that whole sequence hilarious is...



I guess this episode deserves at least a 4/5 because I'm feeling generous.

So many people are gassing this episode up (and last week's too which suffered the same fate) even though 10 minutes of it was wasted on big mom making a new elemental minion and Kidd vs Hawkins. Then we finally get the moment we've been waiting for: Luffy using conqueror haki coating in his attacks. Yet it's superposed with so many flashbacks from Wano act 1-2 it literally took 5 minutes for Luffy to pull off his punch and see Kaido's reaction. What a joke. Yeah animation was pretty for that part, big whoop. Disgusting pacing rhythm.

Edit: Random dude on youtube with a better storyboard adaptation and composition than Toei. Slapping a bunch of after-fx and adding drawn out flashbacks through this moment was a terrible directing decision, and people are saying the direction was great. Some people need a slightly more critical mind.
