ecchi/fanservice fans have been getting cucked heavily as of late.. im honestly pretty scared for Slave's adaptation

@EcchiGodMamster you can thank foreign streaming platforms regulation for that, and actual Japanese laws have been getting aggressively influenced by puritanical & censorous american politics in the past decade or so.

@falko92 thanks. I'm sorry I'm not so knowledgeable about the production. I've read in the discussion that everyone expected ecchi. My friend read the LN & confirmed it had some more suggestive descriptions than the anime episode. I usually prefer adaptations to stick to the source material, but I am tired of unnecessary ecchi "fan-service" that takes away from a show as if the creators have no confidence in the plot or art so they thicken the views with bullshit ecchi. If there was some sort of romantic or sexual connection between characters & then some suggestive scenes between them because of this I'd love it. But usually, the ecchi is out of place & basically just blue-balling everyone. Thus I kind of appreciate that the show might not fall into the cheap ecchi category & hope I can actually enjoy it *fingers crossed*.

@LycorisLili well, personally I think it's one of those shows that actually benefit from fanservice, especially as a generic battle school harem story. It's the same type of genres as some other shows like Chivalry of a Failed Knight, Absolute Duo, Hundred etc. fall into (idk if you have watched any of these). Ecchi is part of the fun when it comes to these type of shows. Excalibur Academy is by the same author as Blade Dance of Elementalers, which was very similar genres wise and it got an anime adaptation by TNK around 10 years ago. Excalibur Academy is simply just late to the party. I'm sure a lot of people here are for waifus and fanservice anyway, cuz story wise these shows are always mediocre at best. It's supposed to be a guilty pleasure. The manga for this even has panty shots and torn off clothing right off in the first two chapters. If their plan really was to just tone down the ecchi in the anime for no reason, why even bother to give it to a studio like Passione then? It makes me really question if the production committee even know the target audience for this show. If you want something to watch just for story alone, there's a lot of actual good shows airing in this stacked fall season. Excalibur Academy was supposed to be the ecchi of the season, but ig censorship and puritanism wins again.
