Zanza's past and motivations for fighting Kenshin are more deep-seated than one could imagine based on their initial interactions. I respect his character if anything else, even though he was opposing our main character, we know he isn't a bad guy, quite ironic as it is. While on the topic of his past, I wonder what became of the other kid who journeyed with him in the army? They don't travel together anymore but Zanza didn't say he died either. Definitely a future plot point

As for those other 2 schemers, I'm guessing they are like the team rocket of this show. Never learning their lesson and always cookin up new schemes for our main cast Lol. Next episode looks like it'll be interesting too.

Sano's background, grounded in history, is the most convincing motivation for any character. Best episode so far.

Wth are you talking about? First, this manga is not from 2023, it's from 1994. Second, Linden Films does not decide what they can show and what not, it's part of tv rules. There are a lot of other animes broadcasted at late night that are allowed to show more blood and violence, and they do. And third, this episode literally showed a guy beheaded. If you are not interested in the story at all, no one is forcing you to watch this, go watch Jigokuraku, or Terra Formars or whatever.

Another good remake introducing Sanosuke and his background. Really sucks that he had to see the beheaded Captain Sagara like that. How he was able to push on in life with good morals carrying such trauma weighing on his psyche is a huge feat.

I have really liked the series thus far, I think it’s a good rendition, however, I will say that I feel that something is missing from making this version great. I can’t completely put my finger on it, but something is lacking. One thing that I definitely can’t help but notice is the OST. I find it not very deep or inspiring. It’s not terrible, but I think they could’ve done better. There’s certain scenes too where there is no music and it feels a bit odd or awkward to me. I dunno. I just hope the OST improves a bit more.

I believe you are thinking about the general tone , and the dynamic of the characters.

This Remake greatly reduced the comedy , and it impacted both the overall feeling of the story , and the dynamics of characters , especially Kenshin and Kaoru. Without it , it feels... pending and slow/empty at times.

u didnt watch the old version bruh so dont talk like u know everything , as a big fan of the anime and the manga i'm talking , it was rlly disappointment, if they were rlly care abt us they could deal with other tv and make a good adoptation without changing anything to be fits 2023 , like the remake of dai , the new DBS , and lot of old anime even boruto , in tv there is no bloods there is nothing show you pain or voilence and all those are fighting shonen manga/anime so what's the point of making them without voilence or blood so kids watch them? what abt us?

This adaptation is faithful to the Manga.
It's the 1996 Anime that changed a lot of things for no reasons. It was it that insulted the Author. (Actually , he was cursing at it in every post-chapter/volume release...)

As for the blood , it got a little bit censored here and there , but it'll most probably get uncensored in the blu-ray version.
Broadcast rules are not the same as they were in the past.
well i liked the old version cz it was dramatic and dark , i cant accept the new one cz it's like shojo anime or not a fighting shonen anime u know, it's just i hate the new broadcast rules cz they uncensored blood and voilence in fighting anime , it's a shonen not kids anime

The Original Anime was not more "dramatic and dark" than this one. Actually , it's even the opposite...
This adaptation greatly reduced the comedy , and they added several dialogues and scenes to add a more dramatical tone.

However , the Tsuioku-hen and Seisou-hen OVAs did majoritarily altered the content they adapted to make it way more mature.

Yes , but a Shounen Anime is not a Seinen either !
What we have seen in those 6 Episodes of Rurouni Kenshin is extremely typical for a Shounen Nekketsu story. (Aside from the older and former assassin protagonist.)

Edit : I see that you have Fairy Tail , Fullmetal Alchemist , Nanatsu no Taizai , and Naruto in your favorites.
Those are also standard Shounen Nekketsu. They are not any more mature than Rurouni Kenshin.
So you should be able to understand... ?

I loved this episode. The flashback was actually done very well (cough KNY Swordsmith Arc) and the flashback told us everything we needed to know about this character's background and motivation. Despite knowing he has actually "lost" his past and motivations helped him garner enough strength to keep fighting, yay fighting spirit! Ultimately, it wasn't enough.

Your Team Rocket analogy made me chuckle. All they're missing is a talking Meowth.

It's definitely the more serious tone. This was the same thing "missing" in the new Trigun, those of us who watched the original just wanted that old comedy "baka" friend vibe.

This being said, I vastly prefer this version as I wasn't really into some of the more juvenile comedy. The story is already tricking us into learning about dark times in history, so the more serious tone is apt.

I'm pretty sure that Sano's backstory wasn't as detailed in the OG. Gruesome end for Sagara.

Hella amused that Sugita plays Jin-e, that's oddly fitting and quite scary lol

"dont talk like u know everything"... I can say exactly the same to you. I have watched the first version of the anime thrice, read the manga twice, and watched all the ovas, re-versions and movies. Not saying I'm a better fan than you because of that, I'm not that childish, but whatever made you think this is the first time I experienced something related to Rurouni Kenshin's franchise, you are wrong. I can understand someone getting disappointed from this version because the first anime and manga are awesome, and this one is just above average so far, but that alone does not make you right about "lgbt and humanity and cuteness" being the causes of a show toning down violence in tv. Sure, production team could have asked for a later broadcast schedule so the show could be more faithfull to the original source. Truth is, I don't know if they asked for it, neither do you, and if the product itself was made thinking of introducing new fans to Rurouni Kenshin, then that means the show is not made for you, so stop crying about it. Literally, no one knows you, no one is gonna make a whole show just to fit your idea of what an anime adaptation should be like, not even because you are a big fan. Other than that, if you are one of those "edgy" fans that like violence and blood and pain, because it's, Idk, funny? I guess? then again, why would you watch a PG-13 show?? If you only like R-rated shows, go and watch them, I mentioned a few, one of them was broadcast literally 2 months ago, but instead of reading that part you just started a tantrum because PG-13 shows are not edgy enough for you.

They did.

The Anime already airs at night , and they even delayed some episodes by a few minutes/hours.
They can't do better about the broadcast's time. Maybe the actual censorship is the best they can do with the TV ?

Some blood has been removed in Episode 02 & 03.
A scarf has been around the beheaded head of Captain Sagara in this episode , to hide the cut.
And a beheaded head with blood dripping from it has been completely removed from a scene in Episode 06. (The way the frame is makes me think it'll be added in the Blu-ray)

oh minor blood gets removed then. Might be related to the airtime slot. At least its unnoticeable enough for me and quite clean to not bother it i guess.

When you dedicate your whole life to get rid of a caste system only for it to be replaced by a wealth system and then you get the permanent boot too? That's beyond rough.

Both Kenshin and Sanosuke had dark pasts. However, they took what happened differently. One took the courage to leave the past and started over in his own simple ways, while the other one remained trapped and took all of his anger to meaningless fights...until that fateful meeting happened.

Now they have been reborn, but one thing remains the same..

Sanosuke still never pays his bills :D

That's very tastefully done though, got across the brutality of Sagara's demise without showing too much. Wish it wasn't exactly like this but that's good, too.

The fight went about as expected, Sagara took his L. Welp, tis a shame that he couldn't do anything to Kenshin's speed but what can we do. At the very least, he's living up to his Commander's wishes. Putting the past behind him, he truly did become a friendly side character who just likes his fights.

I'm sure there will be a time where the members of the dojo are glad to have him on friendly terms.

But really though, one look at Kenshin and you would know that this guy isn't like all the other Imperialists lol. Would a bad Imperialist be the type of guy to take a hit to the head for a girl? Or be generally peace-loving? Sounds like the Imperialists this guy hated were more like the crooks.. so pushing that on Kenshin isn't fair.
