Only anime that’s genuinely made me cry. Only thing that came close was the end of Steins;Gate 0 (and those were happy tears)

I loved this movie and there were many sad parts but the part that effected me the most was when he asks if he can cry and starts bawling. I find it really hard to cry in animes and i really want to watch a romance anime that will make me cry, any recommendations? Also if anyone cried in this movie, when and why. Im interested XD
i cried on the the same part i just couldn't control my tears when started to cry and i started to feel like crying when he got the news of her seath and fell on the stairs

I usually like sad anime and I cried a lot during numerous anime, but this one really didn't work with me at all. I didn't cry nor feel sad. And I'm not saying this to sound tough or anything. The predictability of the plot and the superficial characters didn't help at all.

I recommend Maquia if you haven't seen it already. It's a totally different type of movie, but I found it extremely more sad and tragic than Pancreas.

Unfortunately no, I didn't cried and wasn't really impressed from this movie to be honest.
Reviewing is not easy.

I did cry during the second to last scene (I think)...automatically a 10/10 for me. Only 3 shows/movies (this, Koe no Katachi, and s2 of Assassination Classroom) have managed to evoke tears from me ever, so they are subjectively solidified as perfect for me.
Is Blue Box my favorite manga? Not yet...Yes. Yes it is.

When that "Can I cry?" scene came in manga, I cried hard. When that "Can I cry?" scene came in the movie, I cried harder.

Your Lie in April literally gave me PTSD and it has been the ONLY anime that has done that. I don’t cry but do tear up and get emotional when I’ve watched certain anime like 5 cm per second or plastic memories among other anime. That being said, I don’t think there has been an anime that has really made me cry, get emotional and has made me think about it for a week or 2 straight like Your Lie in April. Again, this anime gave me some level of PTSD because earlier today I was looking to watch an anime and came across Your Lie in April and it immediately triggered the memories.

I don’t know if it has had the same effect on anyone else in this thread but if you want a hole in your heart for a while and tears to accompany that hole I recommend Your Lie in April.

P.s I watched that anime the same year it came out and it still triggers memories.

I didn't. Only because it kinda felt like it wasn't executed as well as it could have. It definitely made me sad, but not enough to trigger some tears, and I'm the type to cry over anything remotely touching. The whole time it did feel like he was just being dragged around by her (which is definitely true in the beginning), but it felt like he didn't change much throughout (besides those quick revealing points). Id would have loved to see more of the inner turmoil he would go through starting to care about someone who he really admires but also will lose. Like I wanna see the phases of those. In real life, you'd probably have sleepless nights thinking about it, trying to distract yourself, or repressing it somehow/etc. I just wish we had a better look into how he felt, was just so stone-faced most of the movie (i know thats the point of his character) but it was kind of to the point he wasn't human lmao. Even if that is his personality, as the audience (since hes the MC) we get to see the secret moments no one else would. I guess I just wish he had stronger reactions (even if they were shown to us when he was alone). I wish it also showed his backstory, why is he this way?/etc. Maybe the light novel shows this? I haven't read it.

It was real sad seeing him holding back the tears because it just made me think about how men have to repress their feelings (and japanese men probably even more since their society is very conformist). I was like "Please cry bby!!! Let it out!! Its okay!!"

TLDR: I wish his struggle was executed better and there was an explanation to why he was so blunt (making her influence that much better to see)

There definitely were movies/series which made me cry a lot more.
A few times a came close with this one, only when the MC started bawling it got me a bit, but not absolute waterfalls.

The movie I´ve cried most after was Your Name, I watched it in the cinema with a friend and I cried so much that I didn´t stop ugly crying after the credits were over and most people already left the screening.

It was soo boring and plot was so weak.!
I wonder how people found this emotional, The plot was so nonsensical, why would the girl drag any boy and make him attached even when she knows she is going to die and make him even more depressed for the rest of his life!😒😒

I have a similar experience with Weathering with you, the built-up in these two movies isn't executed very well imo.

have to be honest, i cried i got in trouble cuz i was being too loud. But you have to agree that the story is good and really depressing. I cried at the part when they hugged together during the firework, the TV news, the funeral, and when he read her diary and cried. It was so heartbreaking.

Other animes that i cried to was Your Lie in April and A Silent Voice.
