I was expecting the news about the body being found at the end but... Maybe potential for S2?

I really liked this show, it got me at the edge of my seat for the most time. I'm actually interested in checking out the manga!

Wow this finale made absolutely no sense.

I mean for once leaving aside how Nobuto's father just stabbed himself because... he felt like? Even the things which followed through were just happening for the sake of convenience. In what world police doesn't even try to act when something TOTALLY suspicious is happening just behind the door??? Lamoooo, and wait how did Tetsuo get that mini truck lol.

Also let's pretend the organization or whatever Nobuto's father was part of didn't even try to contact or search him, even though the man's been gone for that long.

Anyways logic was never a part of this series to begin with, but it still kinda made watching fun from time to time. Plenty of inconsistencies, but whatever someone could do with these limited episodes anyways. Atleast it gave that thrill if nothing.

Maybe you dont read carefully but it is clearly said in subtitles that Nobuto can't kill Tetsuo, he does not have enough strength for that, he even thinks that all he does is study make he so weak, so he kills himself then the organization will revenge him

@Softhenic03 Nobuto's father was only doing whatever he was doing with the yakuza because of his son. Now that his son is dead and he doesn't give a shit about making money for the yakuza anymore, the yakuza couldn't care less about him.

Bruh…so the wife is an absolute MVP, I swear. Talk about a ride or die.
I can’t believe it was going to end the way it started with Tetsuo, but things worked out thus far out.

Nobuto’s father - for someone who is higher up for the yakuza group, his character did not fit the roll. He Hesitated to fight, he hesitated to kill…and he used the knife on himself…then tried to stab Tetsuo? And the cops! They bought Teteu’s story and seriously did break the door down?? Come on. Makes me chuckle though because the scene of the blood making its way towards the door had me on edge.

I know theres a possibility of S2, especially considering he just killed the lead of the Yakuza group.
Um…maybe due how bad the weather got in the end of the episode, his body may resurface?

They made the ending good enough that the audience could conclude that the problem was solved and the Tosu family would be fine. But that seems to have changed Tetsuo's nature to do anything for his family. I didn't expect them to make it like that, as Yoshitatsu's death could have left the story hanging, but this ending of the anime is acceptable, at least for me.

I love how the story tells me that a father is truly a hero who will do anything for his kid's happiness no matter how weak and incapable they are.

Finally got around to watching this and I'm conflicted. At times it was just how I though it would be and at other times (like the scene in the rain) I though they missed the mark.
A big thing however is the question of a S2. Being up to date on the manga I really don't see how they would pull it off. There is just too much setup for the
for a S2 to really shine.

That was awesome, I really love the story from start to finish, can't believe they managed to get this far with just both of them.

It's a good anime, it surprised me during the season. For those who enjoy stories that contain gangs and mystery, it's a great treat.

É um bom anime, me surpreendeu na temporada. Para quem curte histórias que contém gangue e mistério, é um prato cheio.

Man, this show was great. I was hooked from the first episode. I think what's so cool about it is how realistic it feels. So often in the "Taken" fantasy the father becomes an action hero (because who doesn't dream of being a badass?). Those stories are fun, but here Tetsuo is just a regular guy. He doesn't have fighting experience, so his fights with Nobuto and Matori are desperate and bloody. Anyone who's seen undisciplined fighting knows how accurate their depictions were.

His solutions to problems also feel realistic. He doesn't have access to goats or pigs. He can't pull off a crime-drama kill room with barrels of acid. So he literally turns his daughter's bathtub into a hot pot and cooks the body, making it smaller and easier to take apart. The flesh falling right off the bone decomposing to fertilizer yeast/ root cleaner. Unfortunately he had to leave the apartment as soon as possible after Matori. He definitely didn't have time to stick around. He got so freaking lucky with the police. I really thought he was done for. I couldn't believe he was even talking to them. They didn't have a search warrant but one wrong move, and they could have easily justified entering on suspicion of criminal activity. If anything stretched his luck a little too far, it was definitely that scene.

Another part that makes this anime feel so real and relatable is that Tetsuo's dealing with organized crime syndicates, but he's not a cop or soldier. Tetsuo has no authority to use violence; he'll never win in the courts. He's gone the moment his name enters the papers. I mean what could you even do in that situation if the police aren't an option? He can't take the whole thing on by himself.

Everyone is saying it, and everyone is right. Kasen is THE waifu for laifu. She is supporting her husband to a T. I cannot say enough good things about this woman! I basically raved about her every episode. Tetsuo is also doing the right thing trying to keep her conscience and hands as clean as possible. That dedication and loyalty is just insane to watch, and it doesn't feel cheap or cheesy or cringey like kids movie slop. Even in more mature shows, a lot of times the supportive wife is an action hero too or some kind of skilled tactician in her own right. The fact that Kasen is just a regular housewife really makes their bond feel extra special.

Also his daughter is freaking hot. I am so angry with her. This dumb bitch. Not only picking an abusive guy, but a member of the Yakuza? Who's cheating on you? Who's killed two girls before? I know women with terrible taste in picking men notoriously love bad boys. Women get with criminals all the time. But again the relatability of this show... It makes you connect with those feelings we all share so much more deeply than normal. A part of me wants Tetsuo to smack the shit out of her for being so stupid. Like bitch. You could've had any guy you wanted, and you chose the worst possible person! Now daddy had to kill someone, your mom's being tortured downstairs by thugs, and you can't even appreciate how much they love you. She needs to be spanked. Aggressively ;) Although let's be real, that's probably part of how she got in this mess with Nobuto in the first place.

10/10. I normally don't read manga, but I can't find the live action continuation for free. I NEED to see what happens next.

Update: So I actually just finished the manga. What people are saying isn't true. The only chapter the anime really skips is chapter 8, which goes into depth about his job. Beyond that there are minor tweaks here and there, notably the character designs of Reika and Nobuto and Tetsuo chainsawing the victim in the Organisation's blackmail video. I wouldn't say it's a waste of time to read the first 48 chapters because it does flesh out certain scenes a bit. It's not like things were excluded, more that the anime trimmed them down by a few seconds each to fit the runtime. So it was more like, oh that's why Hibiki gave Tetsuo Nobuto's old phone because you see the whole conversation instead of it being referenced and instantly happening. All in all, I think the anime adaptation of part 1 is considerably stronger, especially considering the brutality of the action scenes.

I would really like to see Part 2 adapted. In the final arc, Kubota goes on an insane rampage. Seeing that in motion would be freaking insane. I won't spoil it for you though.

Update 2:
Part 3 is absolutely awful. Don't even bother reading after ch 150. It does cement one of the most pivotal changes between versions though. In the original manga, Tetsuo's leg cramps when he tries to rescue Reika from drowning as a kid. Reika ends up paddling them both back to shore.
