| Interesting. Judging from the interview, I think it's safe to assume we really might see Milly Thompson in the second season of the show. I liked Roberto a lot, but at the same I also felt he wasn't there to replace Milly as Meryl's partner. I won't say why, to not spoil the manga, but even without that hint quoted earlier by @deg , information about 2nd season was enough to consider Milly's return. And not only her. After hearing about the high possibility of 2nd cour becoming reality, and after seeing what happened to Roberto, I thought that perhaps we might see Trigun Stampede's version of Milly Thompson in said second season. Not to mention that we don't see a lot of shows with that high production quality. They are there, sure, but their number is way lesser than, let's call them, "regular seasonals". That's why it'd be awesome to see Trigun Stampede receiving another season. The more series like this one, the better, haha. |

How did this new version of Trigun necessitate Roberto's existence? He did basically nothing but bitch to the others about running away whenever there was trouble and not doing anything which they always ignored. Totally useless. |

I am implying, that character's death doesn't mean he will be completely irrelevant. |

He was required to be there because due to the story taking place much earlier, Meryl was still a newbie. His point was to keep a check on the behaviour and actions of the ''newbie'' Meryl and in the end his behaviour rubbed off on her to make her what she becomes after that. He was her mentor. Besides in the end he does something that actually matters. Not just for one character, but indirectly for two of them. Regardless if you like him or not, he did have screen presence. And he did have an effect by being pretty deciding in how some of the events in the ending play out. |
