as explained earlier, like half of all gundam shows are wildly different stand-alone series with nothing in common, and most of them especially have nothing in common with the original MSG series and its sequels. if you have particular favorite shows and genres, i would be happy to point you in a direction towards other decent gundam shows

If you can recommend me a Gundam series focusing on politics (à la Legend of the Galactic Heroes), that would be perfect, but I'm ok with any genre.

actually a lot of gundams focus on politics, but I think the majority of it is usually from the perspective of the frontline fighters rather than the people doing the space opera broad strokes
I think Iron Blooded Orphans might be good? The world building is pretty cool and you do get to interface with a lot of different organizations vying for power. The plot follows a bunch of bros who form their own paramilitary group and try to find a place where they belong, much to the chagrin of every other military power.

Gundam Seed is also popular and dense with political lore, but it plays out more like a teen soap opera with lasers while IBO is more grounded

tbh though if you haven't seen Yamato 2199 that's the other A++++ space opera show besides LoGH

I especially like how people say "if Suletta was a man, then no one would criticize it!". Lol, people don't criticize a forced topic precisely because it's a girl. If it was straight, then feminists would literally hate this show.

Maybe you just don't understand where they are coming from.
First thing is that "they" aka feminists aren't a homogenous group and these girls haven't done anything wrong to each other so far. It wouldn't change if one of them was a guy.

I understand why you stand up for fujoshi etc. But please don't act like I'm new to fandom and have never dealt with all this crap. Even you yourself partially understand this, trying to prepare a field for retreat, speaking of "not a homogeneous group."

I just dislike the mecha genre in general. No hard feelings for mecha fans but I personally have never been into it. Giant robots fighting is just not something that I enjoy watching.

Thanks for the recs. I did watch Yamato 2199 and I liked it at first, but then it lost me in the second half.

Well the Titans are made out of flesh and don't have any guns or lasers attached to them. That alone makes a difference for me. Also AOT is more steam punk in aesthetic. I love steam punk settings in fiction. Mecha's are hard Sci-Fi's. Hard Sci-fi is usually not my cup of tea.

Oh btw if you love steampunk, check out Last Exile, its pretty much a steampunk anime and pretty good

i think you'd love Big O tbh
it's steampunk batman noir robots

there's also plenty of fantasy mecha shows. i wouldn't really call gurren lagann scifi
and evangelions are also made of flesh!

I have heard about Big O. I will look into it to check weather it's something I would enjoy. Thanks for the recommendation.

I do like Evangelion as well. The mecha's being more flesh and less mechanical definitely played a role in me liking that series as well.

Nah, I don't stand up nor do I care for fujoshis. Some of them are heterosexual girls and women, who fetishize gay men in an icky way. Others might be more respectful and all, but I don't care for them overall.
I'm also not "trying to prepare a field for retreat". Tbh it's quite exhausting to discuss with you sometimes, because there is often this paranoid strike to your posts.

Once again, I was not born yesterday and did not come to anime fandom yesterday. I have enough experience with all sorts of people and slash shippers especially to know that any toxic and problematic situation can turn into a wholesome romance for them if it's gay. I've even seen people justify stalking, sexual harassment and open abuse just because it was yuri and even bluntly admit to me that it's different from straight abuse because of it. So please, let's close this topic right here.

Because I'm super out of the loop on any Gundam series released after 2003.

This glorious signature image was created by @Mayumi!

I am the Arbiter of Absolute Truth, and here is my wisdom:

"Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news.
Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people.
Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation.
There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime.
You should be watching Carole & Tuesday."
