I have to agree.. i wished they just separated into two episodes.. a lot of their past was skipped.. anyway.. these flashbacks are worth watching.. it saves us from forgetting their hardships and goals when they first joined the crew :) |

| Those flashbacks really show how much everyone got stronger up to now. There is no way you can tie up Zoro with simple ropes now XD And as for Usopp his dream is to become super brave not super strong so he has improved a lot too!!! |

| I must say the first flashback for Luffy was most acceptable because it directly related with the mission at hand as this stands as a major stepping stone in Luffy becoming what he's set out to be. A pirate who can even surpass his mentor. Zoro's was less so, that one was more so him thinking about how strong he's gotten ever since he paired up with Luffy and it didn't call directly to the Robin mission. This one, in particular, felt very filler-y because of that as if it was purely there to take up time rather than to supplement this final showdown. Usopp, on the other hand, felt very accurate to the mission and therefore not as bad as Zoro's by any means. It was a reminder of Usopp's dream and how far he's come, and how this is, like with Luffy, a stepping stone to fulfill a promise. A promise to become a brave warrior and come back to tell Kaya all the lie-like true stories of his adventures. I did like remembering Coby and Helmeppo! I hope we get another follow up with those two, the last one was awesome but a long time ago now. Zoro being able to recognize how similar he was to Luffy so immediately by seeing both their resolves for their dreams and ambitions was more powerful now than in the past on the first watch. Him joining Luffy's crew was both a sign of gratitude for being saved but clearly in his own words also an opportunity he realized to improve. I love how since the beginning Zoro has been recklessly courageous, trash-talking Morgan while tied up just like he did so to Arlong. Usopp's introduction was so memorable. His entire introductory arc was great. Him fighting with his all despite not even being able to move anymore has stayed one of my favorite parts in the series. My personal favorite part of the flashback here was how it reminds us of Usopp's growth. His reunion with Kaya will be amazing. At this point, he has become so brave and strong and the adventures he has been on will be something much greater than the lies he once told and I think Kaya will realize that. I cannot wait for the day they meet once more!!!! In fact, the relevance to this showdown right now is the fact that the once coward is challenging the entire world for their friend without hesitation. That is such a big change from the start of the series. Despite the filler obviously reusing footage and showing some less than immediately important backstories this is probably some of my favorite in the series, probably after Navarone, due to the amazingly adorably funny shorts and the incredible value of refreshing on the characters backstories in a way that fits with the story rather than by making us find a time to go back and watch it ourselves. |
| Surprisingly enough, it's as if I can remember Zoro and Usopp's backstories as clear as day with only the need for some screenshots to shake up the memory banks so this was pretty unnecessary for me. The shorts at the end are pretty entertaining though. I'd like to see them fight CP9 sooner than later, to be honest. |

| I’m actually really enjoying these recaps and short stories. Definitely looking forward to getting on with the rest of the arc though. I’m just glad I wasn’t watching this whilst it was airing lol |
| Looks like we are getting recaps of everyone. I still think Zoro friend could still be alive. We never saw a body or at least the girl with smoker might have connection to her. |
