You've watched quite a few Shonen anime, so I'll suggest Arad Senki ~Slap Up Party~ and Elemental Gelade. not exactly my favorites, but I'm not really a shonen anime watcher.

Elfen Lied. It's very gory in the first episode itself. (unfortunately the anime cut short many things in the manga).

Legend of the Galactic Heroes, it might something totally different of what you usually watch, but I can guarantee you, you will certainly be satisfied.

Don't be put off by the fact it has 110 episodes (since you also watched One Piece wich I also enjoyed alot).

Lucky me compatibility is high , though i'm confused.
Maybe you should try out Canaan. i can't guarantee you, you will like it, though you should give it a try.
plus it's short and it won't take long to finish it ^^

You've watched most of the comedy titles I have. I suggest Great Teacher Onizuka, it's a very funny anime. As long as you don't mind old style anime, you'll love it.

Well excluding anime that you already plan to watch I suggest you give Top wo nerae! and its sequel a shot, its one of the many spiritual fathers of TTGL which you've given a perfect rating so far. Also you could try Macross Frontier too it gave me those beyond the impossible vibes despite being a real robot anime instead of a super robot one, Sheryl even used Kamina's catchphrase and Ozma has his voice actor... as a bonus it has a kickass soundtrack too. :P

Thanks but its already on my plan to watch list, as for you seeing that you like parodies perhaps you should give Excel Saga a shot, 2x2 Shinobuden could be fun for you too, although I personally failed to enjoy it.

i failed to enjoy that too!

anyway. recommendations:

gintama - if you like parodies, this is the epic one....plus there's action and a great protagonist. while we're on parody, try seitokai no ichizon too.
mouryo no hako - great suspense series with awesome art
soul eater - action comedy mix....the ending's a bit... but the show's still great
simoun - mecha, great story, many many girls (actually there's no guys in the series)
natsume yuujinchou - a bit like mushishi

@ Kagami

Since Lucky Star is one of your favorites, I think you really should watch K-on. The characters are cute and similar to the girls in Lucky Star, the atmosphere is also the same. The only difference is that K-on is less otaku centered then lucky star. It's not really about music so don't watch it expecting that. (If you do you'll be disappointed. :P) It's simply a high school girls slice of life.

I'll also suggest you Kannagi. It's a show with the "goddess/mystical girl/etc appear to the main character" theme. :p It's mostly comedy with a little bit of romance. The girl has a strong personality somewhat Haruri-like, the boy is a little silly and the rest of the character are really entertaining to watch. The only reason I didn't rate it higher was because there was some needless drama and some fanservice (which aways takes some points of my score).

Oh, well! I was too late! Too much time thinking.... '-_-

@Shadowblade

I have very little that I can suggest you, so I'll suggest one olf my favorites. :P
Try Kaiba, it's probably different from anything you have watched. The artstyle may look weird, but it works really well with the animation and atmosphere of the story. It's a really emotional and entertaining journey about someone trying to discover his own identity. Some might not like it, but at least you will try something different. :p

Since you seemed to enjoy Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei, I recommend you watch Welcome to the NHK. Both are filled with dark humour about suicide and stuff like that. The two lead characters remind me of one another because they're always paranoid or "in despair". They've both tried to kill themselves several (if not many) times. There is also a lead female who is love with the main character. Check it out. :)

Well you've definitely seen a lot of anime, but it seems you like a good shounen so i recommend Samurai Deeper Kyo, which is your good ol' Samurai anime with a twist, the main character has split personality. Another anime i recommend is Noein. It's more of a drama/ love story but it's an emotional ride that's worth experiencing. And i see you have slayers on you plan to watch, so i also recommend checking out the slayers OVA's which are more comedy based and occur before the anime.

It looks like you're into the more mainstream shounen there like Bleach and Full Metal Alchemist, for you I recommend Katekyo Hitman Reborn. Reborn! is your typical shounen series with your somewhat rebellious youth main character and a plot revolving around getting stronger, school life, and special powers involving death and "rebirth". Neither Bleach or Reborn! were my cup of tea but I'm sure you'll enjoy Reborn!

Went back to page Idon'tknow to bring this up...

So, seems you like it with the manly action. So you should watch Golgo 13 - which I did not like much but is a classic. Also very old school. On the same line of tought Basilisk could also be a great watch.
It also seem that you like the tear in the eye romance (as in Clannad), so you may like Air and other of those productions (I've not watched any others)

As for me, person who recommends PLEASE check at least the shared list.
Edit: +1 if it is on my On-Hold list - as it will be the next one I'll watch

You seem to like the cute romance. Try out Clannad and get Princess Tutu to your watching list. Lovely Complex is also fit for you, as well as Nana for something a bit more on the mature side. And Sailor Moon, now that we are at it (because of the CCS likeness, exclusively)

Edit: +1 if it is on my On-Hold list - as it will be the next one I'll watch

@tasan
You watched a lot but you haven't watched some essentials (as in very good things that you should watch no matter what your preferences are), namely: Aria and all it's sequels, Cat Soup, Doraemon, Final Fantasy VII (this is a personal liking here, but it's still a great movie), Fruits Basket, Ghost in the Shell SAC and its 2nd Gig, Hikaru no Go, Interestella, Kaiba, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Macross: Do you remember love?, Mind Game, Mononoke, Moyashimon and I'll stop at letter M. =p

Bolded are the ones I think you'll especially like based off your favourites.

It took me a hell of a long time to come up with something seeing as you've seen practically everything, but how about Magnetic Rose? It's a studio 4c hour-long movie by Kon with Yoko Kanno music. It's the most succesful mindfuck I'd seen since Evangelion and you love that so hey, it's worth a shot

Perhaps Kaiji? A story of manly tears, overcoming hardships and an epic nose.

Yep, I know about it. Was recommended at this thread before... Liked it very much.
Edit: Noticed it was considered non-complete on my list, but I watched it before the database revamp, when that anime was separated in 3 titles instead of 3 episodes. Corrected now. =D

@Jaapsneep
I think I recommended to you before, sorry if it ends up being the same. So considering that you like mysteries, action and anime to make you think, I tell you to watch Monster. And the forever recommended Legend of Galactic Heroes. And Trigun and Gungrave. And the TV Hellsing, why not? :3 You may also like Samurai Champloo, more on the comedy side.

I'm already watching Monster, Trigun, Samurai Champloo, and I don't really like Hellsing Ultimate so no way I'm gonna watch the TV. I already decided that Legend of the Galactic Heroes will be the last anime I watch, because everyone who's watched that says it's in a completely different league.

I did recommend to you before.. and I don't remember what I said back then. Rurouni Kenshin; Tsuiokuhen is a gory drama. I liked it a lot. So did MAL. It's only 4 eps.

And you should try the TV version anyway, it's completely different than the OVA and less gory too.

@huggabugga92
Azumanga Daioh lover must try Lucky Star, Sketchbook and Ichigo Mashimaro.
Based off everything else, Code Geass seems a good option. You may want to try the Gundams (but start from the beggining of UC) as well.

Firstly i would like to recommend Kurozuka (a short anime - 12 episodes)
It is half based on historical events which occured in japan and half based on a japanese mythical monster, Kuromitsu, a beutiful woman who posseses the blood of immortality which many seek. <-- (golly i sound like a geek)

Well, I, a Hellsing fan thougraly enjoyed this though it could have been longer and the last episode was a bit confusing (over all i give it a 9/10)

Another one i would recommend is The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya(2009) as i see you enjoyed the first one... i found that after watching the first season i was very confused... yet after watching this series things made much more sense as ell the episodes in the two seasons are mixed and not in the right order

the only downer to this however is that there is a timeloop in the series and there are a few episodes where nothing new happenes as they are trapped in the loop ... this was a bit booring but i still recommend it

I see you take a liking for long running shounens, therefor I would like to recommend to you Hokuto no Ken, don't be put off by the art because I am sure you will surely enjoy it.

Secondly I suggest you start watching Soul Eater and Berserk, berserk is a bit more graphic than the shows you have seen so far but they are great action animes

Thanks, added the first one. As for the new Haruhi I think I'll leave her for later due to excessive ammount of stuff to watch and due to the probability that Endless Eight mutates into eternal Haruhi "remakes".

Once I asked a friend to recommend me something that was as good as Lovely Complex and he recommended me Kimi ni Todoke. So I guess you should watch Lovely Complex.
And fun thing that you are one of the few people that managed to get an overall score lower than mine. xD

I will recommend Hataraki Man. It is a short, light series that has a good story and feels refreshing. The genre is josei, but I myself liked it quite a lot, as the characters were very well made and the soundtrack was upbeat. I believe it would be a nice change of pace for you, and it might be something not quite like what you have seen before, a quality that becomes harder and harder to find in an anime when you have seen so much.
A past can last a lifetime.
