If you agreed with OP statement's that is all you had to say, or maybe add points to defend your stance. | As for people arguing about if suspension of disbelief is valid in this case, it depends on your standards. Different people can tolerate different levels of absurdity. But that's not the show's fault, that's on you. It may not be your cup of tea. Do all comedy necessarily need suspension of disbelief? No. Slice of life comedy often are much more grounded in reality with nothing particularly absurd or improbable happening. On the other hand, a isekai comedy like konosuba do need suspension of disbelief. How about serious anime? In fantasy world or mecha anime? Yes even though they are serious, the physics behind them simply makes no sense and require you to just accept what you are seeing. When watching a show and asking 'does this make sense?' Rather it is a comedy or not, it is less about realism and more about CONSISTENCY. Has Spy X Family been consistently portraying accurate and realistic depictions of a spy? No. Do characters in the show question and thoroughly investigate suspicious individuals? Also no. Do any of the missions and how they are executed make much sense? No. If after 3 episodes, and you haven't figured out what to expect, then something is wrong with you, not the show. There is a reason why soft fantasy can still be believable despite lacking any hard rules. The results are consistent and so viewers know if magic X can beat magic Y despite having no theoretical explanation as to how or why. It just is. That extends to all levels in a story. If Loid has been consistently suspicious of people around him and doing background checks frequently, then it would be odd that he wouldn't do it for Yor. However so far he hasn't, he has only done a basic background check and whenever something came off negative, he accepts it. See Anya, he accepted her as just odd after the background check came back with nothing of note. Same with Yor. This trends extend throughout the entire anime. Yor also accepts Loid's claims. And While Yor maybe aloof, her co-workers also accepts Loid's claims. None of Yor's co-workers also questioned her ability to catch the tray of food with her legs. What would be odd is if Loid suddenly became suspicious of Yor without something unique happening as he haven't been wary of her up till now. As said, maintaining consistency and thus believability. The show has consistently told the viewer where the line of realism is drawn, and what has been sacrificed for the sake of comedy. And yes, not all comedy need to sacrifice realism, but there are MANY TYPES of comedy. I know, big surprise, not all comedy are the same! Surreal and absurdist comedy/humor is a genre. If you can't wrap your head around surreal humor, then its a YOU PROBLEM not the show's. It is crazy to see how some people here think that they are more literate and thus superior yet fail to understand there are other literary genres. Disclaimer: The show isn't explicitly surreal humor, but I used surreal humor as an example of why realism is not a determinate of good writing. And you can argue the type of comedy Spy X family is, but writing doesn't always fall neatly into a single label and thus do not need to strictly follow rules of any specific genre. These "rules" are more like guidelines, and while useful to follow, they can also be broken as long you know why you are doing it. |

| The entire anime is unaware of what it's supposed to be and how serious it should take itself. Loid is just a cog in the busted machine. If you ask me Anya's the character that seems most unaware, despite having a supernatural power. |
