| I like how people are filling this thread with "OMG theres no action!!" or the only slightly improved, "OMG theres no plot!!" Any generic animator can make a story that's full of "action". It takes very little effort, and adds nothing, by itself, to the quality of a work. To demonstrate, take the Anime Tenchou scenes in Lucky Star - the scenes are so full of useless motion and exaggerated violence that one can't help laughing at the shounen genre as a whole. The sequences are beautifully animated and full of intense energy, but they are hilarious because of how purposeless all of that energy is. As for plot... you can easily have well developed, insightful characters without the formal convention of a "plot." Looking past Lucky Star because it isn't the standard young-boy's-journey-on-his-path-to-defeat-the-evil-emperor-of-the-universe, is simply shallow. Plot hasn't been necessary in literature since the 1700's. Why should anime be different? |

| People need to understand that everyone thinks differently and that someones preferences may not be the same as someone else's. Lucky Star maybe a popular anime which a lot of people have interests to but it doesnt mean the series should draw interests to everyone. slightly going off the topic but i believe there are many people who would argue against Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann being MAL's top rated anime series. Im not trying to compare the two but to use this as an example, if Gurren lagann had a thread exactly like this one my prediction is that there is alway going to be someone who would think its trash. | Finished Lucky Star. Yeah it doesn't have a real plot but it's very enjoyable to watch. If I were to choose between the 3 twins of KyoAni (Kyou-Ryou,Kagami-Tsukasa,Shirori-Kaori), and not as an individual. I'll be choosing Kagami-Tsukasa. They're fun to watch and Tsukasa is so lovable unlike the other "light sisters"(for me). But for the indivual, Kyou ~ftw, Kagami comes next. Ryushi said: deng17 said: BTW, I like Kagami. | Heh. I normally don't mind "slice of life" anime but really... Lucky Star is vastly overrated. Sure, it was a mild bit entertaining, but the only reason I'll really remember the show is for the shitstorms it caused(and, yes, I watched the whole season somehow). Yes, I understood half of the reference jokes, but they simply weren't that funny... I guess I'm biased since I'm not really into the whole 'moe' thing... but I think people like it because the characters are cute(or they wish they had a girlfriend like Konata), they have uber-Japanese/Wapanese references that'll alienate anyone who isn't into anime so much, and it had a cool opening song. |

| personally, I really like Lucky star, most likely due to the fact that I find all these little hints where they take stuff form other anime and use it in random ways, like for example, when Konata uses a line from Shuffle! to justify her flat chest, now those combined with the randomness is what makes lucky star great. by the way, when watching it, the first couple episodes are not very good, but if you watch recent anime like SHnY and stuff, you will notice a bunch of references, like posters of navel games, haruhi cafe, and code geass manga. also the Lucky Channel part of it is just whack. give it some time and you may be a fan, or you can watch more anime to understand it. |

| one thing i also noticed is that after watching a bunch of other animes, then going back LS, it's awesome to find out additional references you didn't know before. sort of makes it timeless as there are tons of references |
| Got to episode 3 and didn't like it at all. It's just too bland. I liked haruhi but I just can't stand this anime. I guess it's cause if I watch this up to about episode 8 I know in the back of my mind I could be doing other things like watching better anime. |

| This isn't really that hard question. Just like how you like different kind of anime, Lucky Star is put into the Type "Slice of Life" and "WIT"( What is This?) Surely you won't see what is good about this anime from watching the first 2 of the series, because the first two were really into girls kind of talking more. It's hard to catch up with the anime at first but when you start to watch the second or third time you will get what they meant to say. Also, people who like "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" (Which were the extreme majority of the otaku) , have high percentage of change to like Lucky Star too. For my opinion, the thing that attracts me to this anime is how it's a "slice of life" and new style of anime that I've never seen. The opening song is also.... Oh my god, can't get it out of my head. =w= "Motteku Sailor Fuku" It also contain all the dream character of otaku. Konata: A small otaku ( GOD's SERVANT : Haruhi suzumiya) Kagami: A boss acting (MUST WATCH TO KNOW) Tsukasa: Air head (DID SHE KNOW ANYTHING!) Miyuki: Smart but clumsy (MOE!) PLUS! Who can resist a small, blue eye and hair anime girl who is an otaku like us. |

| When I started watching it, I was less than impressed. The first two or so were not that great, but since so many people liked it, I thought I should watch some more. When the Marimite references started (about 6), I was laughing so hard that I had to watch the rest. I get the feeling that the more anime you have watched, the more you will enjoy it as you will get all of the various references to other anime (e.g. Azumanga, Da Capo, etc). |
| It takes a while to catch the rhythm of Lucky Star's boke-tsukkomi humor. My first impressions were lukewarm, but the episodes kept getting funnier and funnier as I continued. By the end of the show I realized that Lucky Star is pretty much a masterpiece, in that it takes everyday events that I wouldn't have thought twice about and makes fun of it. It's the first time I've revered a show's jokes; they're genius. On a side note, Lucky Star's humor isn't even in the same dimension as Azumanga's, despite the numerous comparisons. That being said, I think Azumanga sucks. I wouldn't say that if you like one you'd like the other, at all. |
