I'm really Looking forward to the next episode. As much as I enjoy action I still prefer the Slice of Life based episodes as long as they aren't fillers with zero plot progression.

I like both as well. If the show was all action I probably wouldn't like it as much. I love character development, and some things don't develop as well if only action takes place.

It's been a long long LONG time since an episode of an anime has made me feel so excited. When JOINT started playing I was just like...that seals it, this episode is beyond awesome. Plus Yuuji was GAR.

The ending with Shana going tsundere on Yuuji was cute too, I loved it.

6/5, the poll needs another option.

Nice pic Mathes.

Yeah, this episode makes me a fan all over again. What won me over was Marchiosas laughing when "Joint" started - it's like he knew what the audience was feeling and getting a kick out of it.

had a dream last night of Yuji turning down Yoshida for Shana. Then Yoshida started crying... then Yuji just kinda walked away...well maybe next week...

I'm kinda having this really awfull feeling that Bel-Masque's plot WILL work and the last episode ends in a cliffhanger concerning Yuji. I certainly know something like that will be as awesome as it will be evil and painfull. *crosses fingers*

third season = inevitable
fourth season = maybe if the pacing of the third season is equal to the first 13 episodes of the second season.

i mean... there might be more seasons, since the novels are still being written... but i am pretty sure that a third season is going to exist... and a fourth one might as well...

finished watching the "JOINT" part for my 6th time today... it was just too epic

The best ending theme for me, JOINT is back! I love it!

I wonder then, for what reason is the Hougu that Pheles gave to Yoshida.

Also, don't celebrate yet guys! Sabrac is dead, BUT there's still the SILVER! XD

And, Bel'Masque is the main antagonist, they haven't defeated them yet. I wonder what's going to happen in the last 3 episodes?

[EDIT]
Oops! Opening Theme, I mean for JOINT! XD LOL!

I agree that a third season--possibly even more than that--seems almost inevitable at this point. With so much left hanging open I doubt that they could adequately wrap it all up in just three episodes. It still very much feels like the middle of a series, even though it is soon to be drawing to a close.

For me, this episode finally and definitively established this second season as a true successor to the first season. It had been wallowing quite a bit for a while, but now it has found its place in a very big way.

There's hardly enough time right now. Like I said, it is likely this will be the kind of "Bad guys accomplish most of their goals" kind of ending with the Silver encounter happening in Season three. Or they could throw a curveball at us and throw in Silver kicking everyone asses in the last episode. None of the prospects that come to my mind are good for Yuji.

As for the Cross Hougu, it is not something Yoshida will carelessly use at the first provocation. She has to sacrifice all of her Power of Existence, which will in turn summon Pheles. It is meant as a last resort in case Yuji is in extreme peril (say, if they are about to open him up and take the Reiji maigo). I'm guessing she will not use it this season, but rather could be used at a future climactic episode.

Odd man out here, but I raged from start to finish. From the way they kept talking about him, I expected a shitload more from Sabrac, but I was vehemently enraged and grievously disappointed. Room temperature shot up 10 degrees from shear anger. It's enough to almost make me wish I'd stopped watching this show last episode. At this point, I'm praying for a main character death to save me from my animosity towards the show.

In short, this episode repulsed me.

I kinda hoped one of the main cast would die in this ep. But I guess that's not the way this show works... good guys always win. :S

I really liked the part where Joint came in though. I got goosebumps. Not looking forward to the next episode much as it sounds completely sappy, and I pretty much had my fill of feeeeeeelings during the first part of this season.

Die. That episode was epic. What did you expect? Sabrac was pretty powerful, overpowered if I may say considering he took on three flame hazes. And once you get your weakness found, do you really expect to reasonably stand much of a chance?

Agreed, three flame hazes couldn't do shit to him. That's overpowered enough. Although the fact that he was doing it as a job for Bel Masque makes me wonder just how strong Hecate, Bel Peol, and Sydonay are D:

we got a little glimpse at Sydonay's strength last season in the twins arc, and margery was pretty much successful at holding him back. i dont mean that he doesn't have some kind of secret triumph card, but he seemed to have the same strength as margery. as for Hecate and Bel Peol... they seem stronger than what they have showed us (their fights have not been completely finished)

Sydonay(don't know if it is the right spelling) is also known for not overexerting himself. Up to this point he has never shown his full strength nor been completely focused in a single fight. That said, Margery Daw is one of the most powerfull Flame Haze around, both because of her sheer rage in battle and her experience of many centuries. When you think about it, Shana is actually the weakest of the trio of Flame Hazes, although her latent potential is the strongest, because of Alastor's sheer strength.

I seriously just want them to stop teasing us with Bel peol fights in the intros and give us a full blown fight with the leaders of Bel'Masque.

That was a great episode. Sabrac is the coolest enemy ever. I loved how that battle ended, and yeah I thought that this ep could be a great ending to the season, but I read spoilers and I think I know how this season will end. If it goes as I think it will, then we will have a 3rd season.
Why end with a battle, when you can have fun with a cliff hanger.

Again, one of the great things about Shakugan no Shana. Sabrac hasn't owned for as long time as he has because of sheer strength. He has owned because of his useful unrestricted spells. Wilhelmina delt him several killing blows in the previous ep, but he could regenerate because he's smart. But as soon as he was outsmarted, with his spells figured out, he was toast.

In short, brute force isn't everything.

Edit: When i think about it, it was the same with the hentai-kyoudai.

Lulz

I always thought Pokemon was the king of fillers.

Anyway I agree with you. The second season actually with all this development fixed the flaw the first season had. Every character really felt really ignored except for Shana, she was the only one who really shine in the first season.

Okay, I am not the kind of man who needs pure action to be satisfied, but some of the episodes seemed dragged. Or maybe the Yoshida/Shana/Yuji angst was growing stale.

finally! some awesome action. i'm starting to like wilhelmina more and more

i do have some questions though, like why wilhelmina didn't use that spell to counter stigma but waited till shana saves her, or the fact that the whole townmost of the town got toasted by shana when yuji's plan was suppose to save it without destroying the town.

but anyway, throw away the logic, epi 21 is EPIC!!!!!!

Didn't she say something about having to wait untill the spell was ready or sumthing? That's kinda bad though. Lame excuse to let Sabrac be badass for a while. They could've come up with something better imo :/

They always make some sort of trick like that, but again, she isn't an expert at Unrestricted Spells. Possibly needed some extra time to prepare it, and considering it was the first time she was using it, she couldn't afford mistakes. Also, she was stalling, and showing your opponent your trump card quickly would have for all purposes ruined her act. You can bet Sabrac would have not been as careless as he was (leaving Yuji, Shana and Margery alone while he toyed with Willhelmina) had he known his Stigma was of no use.

As for the thing about saving the town and all...apparently Yuji is a Deux Ex Machina and as long as HE doesn't die (or gets captured) or the Fuzetzu gives out early, he has enough Power of Existence to fix all the damage. Do remember the whole displacement occurs when they leave the Fuzetzu. While they are in the Fuzetzu all damage can be repaired (save the use of Power of Existence) using Power of Existence.

There is no denying that more character development was necessary in this show. However, just because it was necessary does not mean it was not also dragged out in execution. I would definitely argue that this season's first half was greatly dragged, even though it did contain a lot of positive developments.

It's been said more than once, but I just have to say: finally some action, and good action too (with fitting music). This whole season's been nothing but inconclusive drama and this managed to break that. Not only that, but the characters reminded me of season 1, which was a good thing. This season could still use some more action, especially with what was built up to be the most intense battle ending in one episode. I only hope the next couple episodes throw in some action and season 3 happens and tops the first 2. Sweet.
