If i remember in the original webnovel the reason rimuru used sunlight as a form of attack from manipulating droplets was due to the holy knights having anti magic barriers that can resist magical attacks, so he had to employ this method to bypass the barrier by "indirectly" attacking everyone. Using a direct nuke would be employing magic directly against them and wouldn't be as effective.

See now that makes some sense. The SMT games have made me think nuke when I see megiddo lol
The fuck SMT fans doing here 💀💀

i was right.. they really are stretching the plot to oblivion..
At this point.. pretty sure they will introduce another BS in next ep and not make Rimuru demon lord there too..
and i wouldn't even be surprised..
this season is pretty meh compared to s1..

I expected more of a nuke type effect from a spell called Megiddo instead of painless laser beams but I guess this is more accurate to get everyone?

It was so freaking satisfying to see those humans wiped out. Seriously, I haven't felt so happy and peaceful in a long time. I guess a bloody revenge every now and then is good for health.
Benimaru just walking up to them was the best lol. I'm surprised how powerful those monster acutally are when compared to humans.
Considering how long 4 camps took I didn't expect we will also see some Rimuru action in this episode. I'm slightly disappointed with his spell tho. Shame it was cut short too, it's rather unusual to split such scene between episodes.

I can't wait for next week!

I've just read the manga chapters for the battles after I've watched this episode, and holy fck, the anime is such a disappointment comparared to the manga. They are so different. The manga went in a way i wanted the fights to go. The anime compared to this is some PG+7 shit.
Plus a ton of things were just left out from the episode which I would consider important.

The fights were pretty satisfying this episode. Hakurou's fight being my favourite.

It was a shame to have that baddie backstabbed by Shojo, but at least he got beat up and then backstabbed by his own superiors.

The ending massacre could've been much better if they actually showed some of the gore though - instead of just the toll of fatalities.

However, at the end of the day, this was still the best episode of the season so far fo sho.

Seems the studio was all banking on this episode (and likely the next 1 or 2). All the waiting through the crap pacing and overly drawn out episodes with repeated recaps of the same things were worth it for this.

Paced just as expected. No mercy, no overly drawing out each stage, just the time and beauty to show the power of Tempest at one site and then on to the next. Even the fights with the otherworlders was only as long as needed. Slightly tougher enemies, but fought long enough to show they still remained cocky even without their previous handicap before finishing them (feel bad that Geld's kill slipped away though).

While another wait to see the massacre continue feels an age away, it ended on the perfect note. No ED sequence, just Rimiru's rath with a beautiful insert song to showcase the killings.

Pretty awesome episode. I didn't expect this show to go as far as killing the otherworlders and in such a violent way too. Killing of the otherworlder girl was a letdown though, cause "we can't let the good guys do it".

Also reactions to this episode from westernoid audiences, sjws and whatnot is just as expected: nothing of note. Jerking to beheadings - good, but lolis and ecchi - bad. Priorities...

Nonetheless best episode so far. Hope he beats that conceited church chick next.

Oh man what a freaking episoide, not gonna lie it was so satisfying watching them die in the hands of Tempest.

I love the part where Sword Master fought against that kid and did the Crest Water Slash, its was nuts.

Looks like Rimuru held no mercy and killed them all, becoming the Demon Lord.

I just got what I wanted to see: a ruthless massacre for those who killed innocent and peaceful living beings. Humans or not they were harmless, but I'm glad to see the strong arm of Rimuru's army in action. And about Rimuru, looks he's following the steps of papa bone, I'm excited for what's going to come.

I honestly did not expect this, I expected it to go the route of

"Somehow we are all gonna be happy and hold hands together"

Since it feels like this is how most things turn out in this show.

This was a pleasant surprise tho, by far the best episode so far and they went all out on this one in every single aspect, just incredible.

Nice to see Benimaru finally getting the chance to get payback for all the friends that the knights harmed. Gabiru's speech though really showcased how much he had changed both in personality and strength level. Pretty brazen to face the otherworlders with only four men though. But this provided the excellent opportunity for Hakorou to get his revenge. Throwing his severed head was such a satisfying scene. If anything the otherworlders represent the very worst of humanity. While the crystals were destroyed successfully and Rimuru successfully converted the main force into energy looks like behind the scenes more trouble is brewing. Though large the spell that he was used was actually pretty simple in concept slimes that made use of mirrors to kill enemies via precise headshots. Looking forward to seeing how things will turn out next ep. Overall an excellent ep that featured a fine balance of action and plot advancement with plenty of satisfying moments to boot.

The slice of life era comes to an end, and I must point out how much I enjoyed everyone dying while your typical feel-good anime OST was being played

I'll have to agree with that statement. Of course it felt super quick as most exciting episodes but the ending scene left my a bit satisfied. The fighting was also great. Loved this episode.

Since I don't read the Manga, I never had anything to cry, moan and bitch about this entire series.

FInally an episode this season that blew me away. All those ceaseless genki monotone monologues finally replaced by some consistent action and some real pathos on the Monster side

Good episode. Personally thought the fighting from all the build-up fell a little flat. More importantly a question.

How could Benimaru and the rest use their magic inside the barrier and then beat the otherworlders when they couldn't before? The barrier only broke after the last crystal was slashed which allowed Rimuru to activate his god spell.

Thanks in advance!

Kirara death kinda sad, was great seeing Shogo pummeled hard by Geld and Kyoya destroyed by Hakurou though.
Final part was somewhat funny, felt like Rimuru gathering experience points for evolution.

I was going to complain that conveniently the otherworlders now were all much weaker than the characters we got in season 1, weakening field or not, they were all a bit too easily killed for supposedly very strong characters compared to their dominance last time. But they all got ended pretty brutally, which was nice. I even kinda felt bad for the girl atleast. Its not like it was their choice to get to this world and serve the kingdom.

But atleast the mage and possibly the knight captain too are looking promising.

Anyway I was not expecting the show to get so brutal, they are going for the "self insert wish fullfillmemt, who needs consequences, reviving the dead" trope after all.. so Rimuru actually killing 10.000 humans is something else. Ngl I hope he cant just revive them, even though I want the girl back.

And yeah sure it got stretched out, was to be expected. The animation was good atleast.

cuz the barrier core is bring position outside the barrier itself since the anti-monster field only cover the city not the road that lead to the city.

What was the point of the whole barrier in the city thing if they could come out (like they did) and wreck everyone then?

There was a throwaway line last episode that said rimiru is the one that was able to let them out. I think Gabiru's dudes told Gabiru.

But also they couldn't just leave them in the town letting them do whatever while they left to try to find these barrier producers even if they could leave whenever.

I see... I guess that makes sense lol. But they made it seem like the otherworlders were expecting them to break out. That can't be normal right?

They totally believe that their anti-monster crusader they position around those place would be enough to pick up a freeing monster from the barrier.

However they didn't know that the power scale of monster inside the city already beyond what they can handle ( like they didn't even know that the one who actually defeat the Orc Lord is the monster in these city ) and the fact that the leader of the city survived the attack earrier is totally unknown.

Think could change if the main 20k troop manage to arrive and encircle the city tho.

There is nothing more satisfying that the good old and simple justice, everyone got a nice punishment on their deaths too, I was afraid Shogo was going to make it out alive but he ended up dying like a loser, it was so much hype getting to see how strong everyone is and how much they respect Rimuru's teachings, I imagined Megiddo was going to be more chaotic but I guess it also goes alongside Rimuru's personality bringing them down with a quick death.

Honestly, gave it 2. The genocide part and casually killing soldiers who are just doing their job (not evil like generals and commanders and the ones who issue orders) is terrible idea for a bright themed anime like this. Episode where Rimuru commits genocide with a calm head (not angry anymore, like after seeing dead friends).

Anyway, a very sharp and awful turn for the anime.
