While he has potential to be a strong character, he lacks confidence in himself a lot. That's not to say that it's a bad character trait for a main protagonist of an action series, but I feel like he questions himself too much and is too self-conscious of his actions.

Yeah I definitely found myself more invested/interested in the characters not named Midoriya or All Might. The series would have been much better if Todoroki was the main protagonist.

Konosuba - completely unfunny. Characters have one joke each, and its beaten into the ground. Shit gets old quickly.

Ass Class - I dont even understand the appeal here. Goal is to kill this uninspired yellow blob character, but hes too fast to be touched. Shit gets old quickly. And the other characters are cringe.

Mushishi - I can tolerate dead slow plot progression, but only it's actually progressing towards something. I can tolerate dry, bland, emotionless characters, but only if there's character development and investment into other side characters. Mushishi has neither. Plot is both slow and stagnant; MC is both dry and stagnant; and side characters only last one episode. Natsume Yuujinchou is also an episodic series, and has similar concept material, but is far much more enjoyable imo. The story is slow, but has a purpose and direction in mind; the MC changes over time; and side characters make recurring appearances often who have their own developments and influences.

Personally, I think Bakugou would have made for a great protagonist. I hate him as a support/main character, but he would at least be more interesting than Midoriya
But I also agree that Todoroki/Kirishima would have also made for great mc's. Then again, most characters are better than Midoriya in my opinion. '^^

I don't hate either of these series. I'm just not a big fan of them.

And after all this time

Hate is a strong word. Let's just say that they are avarage at best.

Hyouka - that mystery tag makes me laugh.
Madoka - spill the blood on some lolies and call it a masterpiece.
Konosuba - it managed to make me laugh exactly zero times + characters were annoying.
BNHA - there is one thing I'm looking forward in battle shounen - hype. And this one failed to make me hype.
Spirited Away - the fact that it's a Ghibli or Miyazaki's movie will not make it better or worse.

Honestly didn't understand anything about madoka if that is your summary of it.

There is so much in it over Faust to the structure of the Greek theatre and greek tragedies. There is a reason why urobuchi is regarded to be one of the best authors in the industry

Good for him. But that didn't change the fact that it was plain for me. My point was that I saw madoka just like every other mahou shojo but with darker theme and nothing more than that.

I would have said HxH, but it already have a decent amount of haters. Instead I would say 3-gatsu no Lion. I don't understand why everyone see it as a masterpiece. To me it was an awful show. The artstyle is terrible, it is overly melodramatic, the characters start crying over anything, the comedy is awful, the director sucks at directing this anime, it takes half a season for the MC to do anything. The show has its moment, but most of the time the episodes are so empty and boring. The awkward animation from Shaft doesn't help either. It should have been animated by a true studio such as J.C.Staff. Honey and Clover was so much better than this awful 3gatsu no Lion.

I didn't really enjoy Summer Wars. I didn't really care for many of the family members, as they were underdeveloped so there was no reason for me to be invested in them; the main duo were average, and the only character I sort of liked was the grandma.

The premise of the movie was actually interesting, talking about a world where an online technology has intertwined with humanity so much to an extent that they live in and depend on the online world. I would've loved it if the movie just focused on worldbuilding and showing how cool OZ is, and how people use it for their needs and transition between it and the real world (and to keep it interesting, maybe add some minor character drama or something else that doesn't take away the spotlight from the world). But nooo, they had to add some bland antagonist who wants to harm the world and the main cast like some B-list movie, resulting in neither the real world and people nor the internet world developing to my expectations.

I'd rather say "dislike" or maybe "like it but not that much", I'd only use the word "hate" on something I gave 1/10.

Then, here are mine, based on the difference in my score and the actual average score.

(6/10) Hyouka - Sometimes interesting and sometimes boring. I find it pretty much pointless to watch and only likable characters were Houtarou and Eru, but the animation and the overall quality is good enough for me to give it a 6.

(6/10) Tokyo Ghoul - The length of the show made Kaneki seemed to have a very short life. I prefer much longer than this.

(5/10) Fairy Tail - Nice characters but the whole show is filled with flaws, like dragging fights, bad actions, instant power-up by the power of friendship, repeating patterns, weirdos, weird magics that meant to be unique but still weird, etc.

(5/10) Liz to Aoi Tori - Nice animation and beautiful storytelling but a dragging and boring watch and much longer than it should be.

(4/10) Higurashi no Naku Koro ni - Great idea but bad execution and filled with flaws

(4/10) Kotonoha no Niwa - Again, a boring watch. Despite the great visuals, I find the main characters pretty bland.

(4/10) Kami no Tou - Excuse me? Where are the proper explanations of the situation or world settings?

(4/10) Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu - Pretty much pointless to watch and the very bad idea of scrambling the episodes. Only great for knowing all characters before watching the movie. The movie is actually great though.

(3/10) White Album 2 - Good execution, but I find the story is such insulting and betrayal to audiences. I won't say it further since it'd be a spoiler.

(2/10) Kara no Kyoukai (1 and 2) - Boring, lack of proper explanation, empty-shell characters, gave up on continuing the 3rd movie.

dragonball, remembering from my childhood, consists heavily in just dudes fighting with the most powerful one winning, with no strategy whatsoever. may be wrong in this one since I havent watched in a long while

Kaguya-sama really fucking blows. It's not the worst romance anime ever (Golden Time and Ao Haru Ride are both much worse), but it completely fails at what it sets out to do and in actually establishing characters that we like. The show bills itself as 'the two most smartest geniuses of all time ever but they have FEELINGS?' which is one of the most obnoxious setups in anything. First of all, neither of the characters actually display why they're smart, or do anything particularly intelligent, we're just told that they are by the story. In fact, they're both kind of retarded. One of the most annoying things in literature or film is when the audience is told a character is smart and their writing totally fails to capture or reflect that. They don't even need to be smart in a realistic way, just smart in the context of the story, but Kaguya-sama even fails to deliver on that. Secondly, the romantic chemistry IS there, barely, but it's at the sacrifice of literally everything else that would make it a palatable story. The show spends it's entire run time trying to establish a character dynamic and utterly fails at establishing any of the characters on their own, outside of the context of their relationships. Third, Chika and Ishigami are terrible as a supporting cast. Neither of them are likable, and Chika is actually so obnoxious that she brought the show down a whole extra point for me. I just really don't understand the support or hype around Kaguya-sama, and the fact that the manga and both seasons of the anime are so highly rated is utterly baffling to me.

Spice and Wolf and Golden Time

Spice and Wolf is boring as hell. The whole economics angle was pretty cool but it never got developed as a big idea in the story. I get that their journey was built around getting Holo back where she came from while maximising any trading opportunities they came across but that was literally its whole role in the story. Also the 'witty dialogue' that it's praised for straight up wasn't there. Maybe there was one good snarky comment per episode but their so called 'banter' and normal conversations were so boring to watch.
Not to mention season 2 was just a shit ton of unnecessary drama and one communication issue was dragged on for like 6 episodes when they could have just spoken to each other and solved it.

Golden Time just did nothing right for me. I didn't like any of the characters, the comedy wasn't funny, and then there's that bullshit about the MC having amnesia. I just honestly didn't enjoy any aspects of it.

Hate is definitely a thing for a couple

Clannad after story: seeing it scored a 9 something average is mind-boggling. I don't think I've ever felt more insulted as a media consumer by anything else in my life. A complete and total piece of garbage.

Byousoku 5 cm: I liked other works of Shinkai and they were basically fine. This was boring, pretentious and so devoid of anything other than "look at me, I'm artistic and I mean stuff so I'm good" no, you're fucking not.

The following is more of an "astoundingly mediocre to poor crap"

Death Note: edgy, plothole filled, boring slog. L was kind of entertaining and the concept is ripe for decent plot/story but none of that happened in this crapfest.

The entirety of dragon ball: the first was just mediocre, the rest was garbage. Good for the mëmës though, over 9 thousand and wow, so funny omg much lol supa laugh etc etc

Samurai champloo and angel beats: unremarkable, visually drab, without any compelling characters or story and overall mediocre. Two peas in a pod.

Clicked on this thread to post this, I thought the show was really shallow. I found the characters hard to relate to, and the anime tries to evoke an emotional reaction from the audience by using shock factor. Anytime someone died or there was a dark revelation about the world I didn't care because the show failed make me invested in its characters. I felt like the writers were just instructing me to feel sad/disturbed instead of actually making me feel those emotions.

Hate is a strong word
but let me just list anime that I think aren't all that
-The First season of Assassination Classroom
I got bored at the last arc and I felt they had some plot armor
-Beastars
It was interesting but the murder storyline was kinda ignored which was kinda disappointing, looking forward to season 2 tho
-Some of Jojos,I thought some of part 3 and the first half of part 4 felt like filler,Part 1 was kinda boring in the middle, and I didn't like the last arc to part 5
-Demon Slayer was kinda generic and the characters were flat
-Evangelion
The story I thought kinda was a mess, and the last few episodes were messy
-No game no life
I just didn't like the main characters
-Shield hero
The animation was trash, the antagonists were very tropey and,the protag was kinda the worst I've in anime because I thought he was the edgiest/blankest slate of a protagonist that I've seen in anything

Out of all the anime I've listed that I don't understand why people would like it, it would be Shield Hero

The Tatami Galaxy was one of the most boring things I've watched. And, no, I don't hate it because of the speed of the speech. I feel like people give it high ratings and put it in their favorites just because they are expected to do so. Almost everything about it is bad, especially its comedy. It is one of the most unfunny animes out there. People seem to praise it only because of its great style. This is the only good thing this show does right but it can't compensate for the average story.

Probably One Piece, especially nowadays. I know tons of people hate it too, but stumbling across the fanbase you see a bunch of people who actually like the art style and plot as of now, and I can't understand how that's possible. Each episode has literally only ONE manga chapter as its source material. The story progresses so slowly and now it's packed to the brim with fanservice to keep people interested. It used to be pretty good, but the quality's dropped by 90% and it's physically impossible for me to comprehend why anyone would like it anymore.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time was rather disappointing for me. After seeing nearly all of Hosoda's original animated films, I always felt that The Girl Who Leapt Through Time was just a way in which Hosoda was attempting to learn how he could implement his directing talent towards animated films, and nothing more. The characterization and design of each character were lacking, and if present, was dull and boring. The final third of the film had barely any cohesion towards the rest of the story and felt completely rushed. Although the time travel scenes were cool, nothing else about the setting was carried through by the animation and art styles. When I originally watched it, I literally had to pause halfway through due to the dullness I had to endure. It took me 3 tries for me to finish this film, and in no way was it ever enjoyable. The movie isn't something I "hate" per se, but it's a film that disappointed me more than any other show. At least his other works were better.
